Great video and huge thank you for posting all of this information! I burned out my Stealthwake motor and followed your recommendation. I went with the Turnigy 70amp marine ESC and same brushless motor. Everything else is stock. The boat is flying again on 2s lipo... actually seems a hair quicker. The boat still handles great and the motor barely gets warm now. Kudos for a great combo!
Hi guy, after your great work on this boat, I decided to start working on my Stealthwake. I will change rudder, trim, I will switch it to brusheles but I want to try to keep the original rigid shaft. It will be interesting. Thanks for the inspiration
It will still work great with the original rigid shaft and brushless. Try to find a way to cover the shaft where it exits the stuffing tube near the motor. Otherwise, you will get grease all over the inside of the boat! It's a common problem, especially when you have a faster motor!
I love the video it help me out with some problems I had. I was trying to find some up grades but can't find anywere.can someone please tell me were to look for them.
It’s a dynamite marine 4 pole 3000kv. I’m running it on 4s for speed runs on very calm water only. The rest of the time I run 3s because, on 4s it is really unstable in turns or in waves.
We still run these almost every weekend when the lakes and ponds aren't frozen. Love the Stealthwake. No issues after upgrading, nothing has broken, melted, overheated, nothing bad! Highly recommend a Stealthwake. If you buy new, enjoy it stock until the warranty expires. It's not the fastest but a ton of fun, especially when it's wavy/windy. If buying used and it has issues then upgrade. I would follow the "Stealthwake 2" upgrade, it's a lot better and easier than all the work we did with "Stealthwake 1." Upgrade videos on our channel will have "Stealthwake 2" in the title
@@HandfulOfHobbies mate that’s absolutely fantastic 🤝 I’m buying new and will follow your advice to the letter 👍🙏🤗 Do you think she can handle salt water? I’m gunna watch all your vids, I’m so excited 😎😃
@@bugsy742 It will work in salt water but you have to be very careful to clean it after running it. Flush your water lines with fresh water, hose off the boat after running and if any water gets inside, you'll want to carefully rinse everything with fresh water. I know people run in salt water and have a system for how they clean up afterwards so search online for tips!
When the motor dies does the ESC stop beeping? My son's boat died on the lake today. Put a new battery and no beep from esc. The lights appear to turn on the esc when throttle is applied. Rudder still turns. Do these boats have any warranty?
Odds are pretty good that it's the motor has burned out if the rudder is turning and the lights work on the ESC. If you bought the boat new, then yes, there's a warranty. I don't remember how long it is, but call Horizon Hobbies anyway. The motors in these boats burn out all the time, that's why we eventually went to brushless, not for the extra speed, but for the better reliability
Generation Of Gaming ok. Thanks for quick reply and for great video. The overheating issue of the brushed motor was a major issue for me. So I’m very excited to get these upgrades in my boat. Thanks again.
Holy crap. Got the 90amp esc and 3300kv surpass. Now it’s the boat it should be. Can’t thank you enough for the video. I kinda gave up on this boat with brushed setup, even though o loved it. But now we are rockin, whoooo!!!
@@bodie9676 No, we don't have the programming card. It came setup the way we needed it. With the programming card, you can fine tune the ESC settings, but it works fine out-of-the-box.
The Stealthwake does NOT have a self-righting. It does not have a flood chamber like the Sonicwake and no matter how hard you try, it will not flip over by going forward and backward on the throttle. If it does flip, you'll need a retrieval boat or a fishing line. However, this hull is super stable and has only flipped twice in the years we've had it, once when it crashed into another R/C boat and once when we tried a 3S LiPo and it took off and flipped over.
@@nickrc9239 We can't guarantee that it won't flip at some point, but we haven't flipped it. If you watch some of the many videos of ours, even when it "spins out" taking a corner too fast, it hasn't gone 'belly-up'. That has been our experience so far.

Just fitted mine with a dynamite 3000 kv motor and a 60 amp ESC. It flies! Top speed is about 34 mph!
Any mods needed or just plug and play???
Did the 90amp and 3300kv surpass. Hauls booty with a low tone. Love it.
Nice! Hope it’s fun!
What model Dynamite motor did you use????

So I’m here two years later and considering buying one 😅
What do you recon after two years of owning her? 😃

Where did u buy 5mm-3mm adapter. I can only find 5mm-3.25mm. Will that work thank u
Thx man been looking for one.
Did you try a higher KV motor?
@Bodie Mcauley, we did try a higher kV motor but be cause of the boat's haul type and size it became to difficult to control
