    That little machine is tempting . Right now I am undecided....520....700. I really like the size of 520 for my trails.

      The size of the 500/520 is so handy in more densely wooded trails, and nice for crawling through challenging terrain. Having the very low 1st gear makes it a pretty capable machine especially for its size. Has effortlessly moved around decent trailer loads over and over. For our uses the 3 speed transmission of the 700 doesn’t sit well in my mind, would love to check out what 700 owners are saying about that...

      I have a pioneer 500 and love it. I too thought about a 700 but drove one and didn't like the 3-speed transmission. If you want a hunting or woods machine the 500 is great. If you want to go over 30 mph on a dirt road it is not your machine.

    I'd be interested in seeing a short video on how you built and attached your custom rear box if you still have the 500. Thanks!

      Hey and thanks for subscribing to our channel! Sadly we saw the 500 go out Wednesday night. Went to a great home though! I do have some footage of the box being mounted up that might kind of give a rough idea of how it was built. I'll see if I can turn it into something that makes sense in terms of how it was built!

      @@ranchroadhomestead i appreciate it. 520's are selling as fast as they come in, and my closest dealer is 146 miles away. 500's are available though, and I may just have to build a box like yours for taking the dogs along 😉

      @@compasslife6658 They sure are! Would you use the dumping feature much? Also consider the difference in the tires if you are someone who runs the stock tires. Those are the big differences in our opinion. If those aren't a big deal to not have, then the 500 is great really. It has been a fabulous machine. Seems like many people are left guessing these days with delivery dates, frustrating dealers and customers alike.

    • @compasslife6658
      @compasslife6658 3 роки тому

      @@ranchroadhomestead I don't think I would use the dump feature much, just as a platform for carrying the dogs. And the tires on the new 520 have more of a turf appearance...not a fan. I'd likely change whatever I ended up getting to 27" aggressive tread tires anyway!
      Any idea what the difference in HP is between the two? I can't seem to find any info beyond cc's. 👍

      Sounds like the p500 could do just fine! As far as power, it’s 9% increase in displacement. I know companies like to say ‘all new engine’ and terms like that, but the stroke is identical, it’s bore is increased. If we were just guessing here, it’s likely just a bored out p500 and maybe some tweaks in the fuel mapping. Of course we can’t say that with any authority, but visually both blocks look identical to our eyes, without pulling out the ruler... that being said, you should be able to feel 9% in power increase, but it’s not a night and day increase by any means. The p500 spun the fairly heavy 28” GBC’s quite happily! The added ground clearance was very welcomed 🤙 I’m excited to try some of the hills in the summer on our local roads that I remember losing some speed on. Time will tell!

      Hi! It seems to do okay in fresh light powder 10-12” at the very maximum if there is a good base. The problem you’ll run into is, when any snow packs up under the frame and takes weight off of the tires. Also if it starts hopping, it usually means you’re about to be very stuck! Take a shovel 🤞. We are hoping to get a set of tracks, and will do a review on them if you’re interested in going that route eventually. If you’re doing a packed/groomed trail, make sure to stay off of the trails when the temperature goes near or above freezing.

      Just wanted to make sure you realize that our wheel/tire setup is not stock in this video. The stock wheels and tires are very poor in the the snow. The machine gets pulled around a lot, and usually pulled right off of the trail base! Happy motoring!

    hey man I have a few question for you about those tires if you don't mind me asking we own a 2020 pioneer 500 already put 1600miles on it and live in northern Idaho so we have all the terrains up here so I'm looking for some better all terrain tires also for better ground clearance, what size are those and are those the stock rims? how do they do in the mud? snow? gravel? pavement? do they tend to build up snow and or mud in the tread and become drag slicks? also those look like 28s? do they rub any modifications? to be able to run those? thank you and as always god bless and stay safe. also I subscribed

    • @ranchroadhomestead
      @ranchroadhomestead  3 роки тому +1

      Hi! Wow 1600 miles already!? I though we drove ours a lot! The tires are GBC Kanati Mongrels. 28x10x14 on 14” ITP stee wheels. There is no noticeable rubbing, if there has been any it’s only when the steering is all the way to lock and The machine is on very uneven ground, but I’ve never really noticed it. The tires never build up snow at all. They are very good in the snow, we just lower the psi in the winter a bit to say 3 psi. I would say they are okay in a loose mud, but if you get into clay type mud it will plug them up, as that kind of nasty stuff does to almost tires. You’d need an ag type mud only tire for that anyway. We don’t get into mud around here really. On the pavement they are awesome. They are DOT rated for highway over 80 mph which is faster than most SXS can do safely anyway, they don’t wear much! I wish the pioneer 500 had a ‘turf mode’ like the 1000 to give the tires a break when turning sharp on pavement... thanks for subscribing and thanks for watching!

      @@ranchroadhomestead yes sir 1600 miles its a bit for a 2020. between me and my siblings and my parents we use it a lot up here in idaho we got 100s of miles of gravel gated roads to ride and play on so its not uncommon for me to put 200miles on it in a weekend, also I noticed in you're description you say u have 1.5 wheel spacers do i need those if i where to run these 28s on our unit? cuz i dont want to go wider cuz we have lots of tight trails here and i wanna be darn sure they will work before we spend 800$ for wheels and tires, thanks for the feed back man cant wait for more content! from yall!!

      Sounds like you’ve got some great room to have fun! We ran the 28’s for a bit before the spacers. There may be a small amount of rubbing when you’re at full lock and crawling over very rough terrain. It was never a problem for us at all. The 28” tires give a nice 2” bump in ground clearance, very nice on certain trails around here! 👌

      Hi, good question. The tires are 28x10x14 GBC Kanati Mongrels on all 4 and the wheels are 14” ITP steel D shape wholes. The setup is great. Just put some similar to stock wheels and tires back on the 500 so that we can put the GBC’s on the new 520 this week (love the setup so much for what we do!). It’s crazy how terrible the stock tires are in the snow compared to the GBC’s! Stay tuned for a full review on the 500 and new 520! We will talk about the GBC’s too.
