Awesome guide. For folks still struggling -- 1) Try to put down lumber mills that give 11+ wood. At least two in the very beginning guarantees a strong start. 2) Don't overlook the value of hunting lodges and fishing mills. They help in the long run. 3) At the beginning, I usually have my soldier holding a narrow choke point (since he moves slow), or guarding the tents (if you've started too close to a doom village). 4) Pump out nothing but archers until your village is walled off. Soldiers make too much noise, and you can get overwhelmed quickly. 5) If you're hard up for power, and don't have your market yet, pick a low-producing lumber mill or quarry and cut the power off (I usually choose a quarry, since you only need 20 to build a barracks, and 40 to build a market).

depends, u can do both at the same time. untill like day 15-20(on 80 days) u dont rlly need ballistas. u should be having veteran rangers by day 4-5 and put them to guard the borders. by day 15-20 bigger random waves with runners and shit start to come so u need better defenses. but it all depends on how to want to play

You pirated the game, didn't you? You downloaded it for free, didn't you? Come on, be honest. Man, this is why you research something before buying it for a large amount of money(I'm gonna be honest, yes, I was close to pirating it myself until I found out about the update that made houses become infected right when you place them when the game is pirated. Good job I say to the devs, good job).
@@healingthoughts3166 If I remember correctly, it's definitely an intended feature within the game to prevent pirates having fun. If I'm wrong, you can always do your research.
That's a good question, and it varies, depending on a few factors. It's a matter of the differences between them; Cottages supply 2x as much workers than tents (which is the main reason you build them in the first place) however; they cost 3 energy, while a tent only cost 1. So, apart from construction resources, cottages have the same upkeep as 3 tents, but only provides the workers of 2. Their gold production is the other way around; tents provide 8 gold, and cottages 18, which is a little more than double the amount. This all means that while you have building space available, build more tents. Simply because they are just cheaper per colonist, both in construction and upkeep. This will change once you get to build the Market (and you will run out of efficiënt space); you'll want to have as many colonists in the market range as possible, at which point you'll be upgrading to cottages as much as possible.
I am still stuck on the first map which does not seem to have such nice open spaces to build these sprawling towns on -its good for choke points though... Any tips when you dont have large open spaces to build towns that can benefit from Bank/Market?
Use a very small area and don't expand past early chokepoints; work with the resources within that area to try and defend against the final wave. Also, (optional) don't clear the whole map, other than nearby doom villages and zeds that get in your way. Sorry for not clarifying earlier, hope this helps. :)
Thanks for the clarification! If you want to do something like that as a challenge I'm sure it'd be fun! However if you're playing the game normally you generally want to keep expanding and clearing the map to make your life easier when the final wave hits.
I know this is an old comment but this is how I always play, I often don't go passed 1000 colonists and I have no trouble winning even on nightmare difficulty.

I’ve been getting recked on map 4 max zombies and 100 days. Noise is a much bigger problem in that map because zombies have better hearing mechanics and it’s common to pull harpy’s even by day 15-20. I do like your. Solider/sniper ratio 1:1 idea. I’m mostly afraid to use shoulders because they pull so much extra aggro. But I’ll try this strat. Any extra advice for map 4 build order?
Map 4 is a whole different ball game and a lot of the advice in this video won't work on that map, don't even use the soldier early game as it just attracts massive hordes (that's just my opinion though). Generally the same build order though, but you want to rush Ballista tech asap so you can kite zombies towards them. So ballista's are used for major clearing early game until you have a map clearing army and it's all the same from there.
ImKibitz finally beat it! 270% score factor 100 days. The solider/sniper strategy wasn’t a terrible idea even on that map. Ultimately it helps to have that meat shield in front of more expensive snipers. I got really lucky on economy starting off. In the end, I had 3 wonders built. But, the final wave breached me pretty bad. Just had to pause, delete, re-wall, move surviving Tropps around and eventually cleaned it up but half my city got wrecked.
I've watched a lot of your They Are Billions videos, so I decided to watch a few other youtubers. They were so garbage I kept yelling at my screen, I will never watch another youtuber other than you play They Are Billions.
How did you get that last map shot @ 25:47? Is it multiple shots stiched together or is there a command I don't know to see the full map at the extreme zoomed out view?

You pirated the game, didn't you? You downloaded it for free, didn't you? Come on, be honest. Man, this is why you research something before buying it for a large amount of money(I'm gonna be honest, yes, I was close to pirating it myself until I found out about the update that made houses become infected right when you place them when the game is pirated. Good job I say to the devs, good job).
@@healingthoughts3166 If I remember correctly, it's definitely an intended feature within the game to prevent pirates having fun. If I'm wrong, you can always do your research.
you are awesome
good play
@ImKibitz Could you help explain more regarding how tents or cottages to build and at what stage? I noticed you had 25-30 tents before cottages.
That's a good question, and it varies, depending on a few factors.
It's a matter of the differences between them;
Cottages supply 2x as much workers than tents (which is the main reason you build them in the first place)
however; they cost 3 energy, while a tent only cost 1.
I literally can't last more than 5 minutes. I don't even make it to the first "wave"
I am still stuck on the first map which does not seem to have such nice open spaces to build these sprawling towns on -its good for choke points though... Any tips when you dont have large open spaces to build towns that can benefit from Bank/Market?
I'm tryingbto see how he got so much oil since Thanatos cost 2 oil from Production
Is there a way to play tall? If so, would you do a video about/trying it, (if you haven’t already done so)? :)
I don't know what play tall means.
I know this is an old comment but this is how I always play, I often don't go passed 1000 colonists and I have no trouble winning even on nightmare difficulty.
can you train lalo salamanca armed with kalashnikov doing ratatatatatatatata???
Wheni watched this first time cuz i was a pretty no0b guy in this game i was like HOLY SH*T I NEED THE EASIEST MODR RIGHT NOW.Then i just felt stupid cuz there was no challange i ocupied whole map in 30 days and i am still waiting for 150th day.God i am such a noob.😂😂
Of course he gets a perfect map
Yeah, seriously. I think this game is about restarting until you have a good map seed. Even then I still get wiped. Haha
he did not include the lufier if you have a ton of zombies but you can't afford a titan or Thanatos then get the lufier
or build barricades and walls :P
Wow dude, you sound like Maddox.
can you make a guide for the new map?
How to expand on open spaces? Im afraid random zombies will spawn.
Ive been doing the campaign and never seen a mayor. What am i missing
Build some rangers and an army of soldiers.
Me: Sometimes I dream of heads exploding. I always RUSH SNIPERS BARRICADE EVERYTHING
9:54 So there are a lot of OIL
I've watched a lot of your They Are Billions videos, so I decided to watch a few other youtubers.
They were so garbage I kept yelling at my screen, I will never watch another youtuber other than you play They Are Billions.
Does anybody know how much have changed in the years? I mean dmg numbers hp points etc.
Omg bahaha, making this shit look easy. I never used the bank because I never knew how good it was until now haha
How did you get that last map shot @ 25:47? Is it multiple shots stiched together or is there a command I don't know to see the full map at the extreme zoomed out view?
Good question! In version 0.8 you can press the f10 key and it takes a full map screenshot!
I swear this is David Cross
Shit.. can't unhear it now
