- Today myself and the 9 year old are on a shopping mission, and before that we need to fuel up!
I decided to go to the local Toby Carvery for their Buffet Breakfast, which incredibly features Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy!! YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS on an ENGLISH BREAKFAST ?? What is this madness ?!? And there were no eggs either - the eggs crisis has hit Toby !!
It's a pretty low cost buffet breakfast option, but low cost doesn't always mean value for money - how will this fare?

What do you think about the idea of a breakfast Yorkshire pudding? Is it genius or madness?
Let me know if you’ve had a Toby Carvery breakfast, and what you made of it… my score might have been higher if they’d had some eggs!
I do think it would be better with eggs. since you could ask for scrambled as well as the fried. As I say the YP is only there as the weird item, to fill you up. cheap to make, and used so you eat less of the more expensive items. Show me any place in the world that have a YP for Breakfast.
@@davidsworld5837 agree on the fact that it’s a cheap item to fill you up. The same can be said for rice at a Chinese buffet, chips etc. at one of those multi cuisine places. I once went to a Chinese buffet in Hungary that was full of bodybuilders ordering plate after plate of prawns for the protein… they must have put that place almost out of business that day!

My dear old gran used to make us Yorkshires and fill them up with scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast! We loved it 🥰

I went to a Toby once, in Chelmsford, I was quiet impressed; they even had a heated smoking area!

I just wanted to let you know that there is a Spanish restaurant in Lowestoft suffolk called the bath house lowestoft restaurant it is a family run restaurant too!!
I hope you can visit this place?
They do a all day BREAKFAST.
Served from 9am.
Closes at 3pm open 5 days a week wedsday to Sunday also have a fantastic lunch offering as well.

I say anything goes. I eat salad with tinned mackerel for my breakfast!
Salad with tinned sardines was something we’d quite often have when I was a kid. Sometimes with cold baked beans too. But I can’t recall ever having it for breakfast… each to their own though, if you like it then crack on 😀
I know yorkies on a breakfast seems a bit gimmicky but I am honestly not opposed to it. Whilst it is no clear substitute for bread, toast or fried bread, it still qualifies as high carbohydrate stodge which is fine by me. A tonne of stodge and a gallon of coffee is what wakes me up each morning. 🤣However, I will give the thick meat gravy a swerve; that is not for breakfast.
Why did they have a slotted ladle for the beans? The best part of baked beans is the sauce, so a slotted ladle seems a bit daft.
I know we had struggles with the supply of eggs for quite some time, but breakfast without eggs just seems so wrong.
Pound for lb I think you did well on this. Not bad but not the best. The no egg thing was a real downer.
Oat milk in tea but cows' milk in coffee!?! I promise not to ask, but I presume it is not allergy/intolerance related.
Top tip for breakfast: My absolute favourite breakfast is Eggs Benedict with ham - not bacon. The last time I flew back to Dublin, I had an early flight and so, I indulged in breakfast and indeed ordered the Eggs Benedict but also had a side order of black pudding. OMG! That was a combination that no words can explain! It was just perfect. The next time you are looking for a breakfast video idea, I would genuinely and sincerely love to hear your opinion on that.
Eggs benedict with black pudding sounds amazing!! There is such a thing as a Miner's Bendict I have heard, which is just the eggs, black pudding and hollandaise.
The milk thing was a fas (I don' really like milk) - I am back to cow milk in both !
the YP at breakfast is just to fill you up so you eat less.
what you need to do is look at the cost vs the amount of items you had.
As for that much money you could have bought everything you eat and made it at home for a week for that much money.
But vs eating at other places it is a better option if you are happy to spend money to buy breakfast.
I would say you have to compare what you got in the TGTG bag vs what you eat going into the place and paying more just looking at the food NOT the Drink, since the TGTG bag had NO drink so you would have spent extra getting that.
I am not sure if you could say the TGTG bag is Value at all.
The TGTG bag was around half the price of the breakfast. So from that perspective you can certainly argue not brilliant value as you are missing the all you can eat element, plus the ability to choose what you want. But still a nice treat for someone on a budget. If I took my family for breakfast there it would cost around £35 inc. drinks. Absolutely can make nicer at home for less than that money. But that’s not always the motivation of course, otherwise restaurants simply wouldn’t exist right 😀

It was a bit weird to have a yorkshire pudding with breakfast - little one even had gravy on hers!!! Eggs would have been better to be honest 🙂

I've really enjoyed the TGTG Toby breakfasts but not gone and sat down in one to eat. I'm not a huge fan of tinned tomatoes but have to say the Toby ones were really nice. It looked a bit too busy and noisy for me for a breakfast sitting so I will stick to the magic bags. All looked good, I love their Yorkshire puds, I suppose you could make a DIY toad in the hole for breakfast 😄
Yeah it was busy, we pitched up just before 10 on a weekend. I imagine it would be quieter during the week. Toad in the hole for breakfast sounds like a plan… couple of fried eggs, bit of bubble and some beans with it, lovely!
I'd have never thought a Yorkshire pudding as a breakfast lol, but I guess it'd be a good hangover cure lol

A no egg Yorkshire pudding doesn't make sense unless they used a egg substitute not sure they belong on a breakfast but each to their own
I’m guessing they had a limited egg supply, so had to prioritise Yorkshire puddings over having eggs on the breakfast. Would definitely have preferred a fried egg to a Yorkshire Pudding on my breakfast though!
Oh god yeah i experienced the no eggs . Ridiculous aswell as wasnt warned and no sign up until i asked whilst getting my food
It's bonkers isn't it. I know eggs are a bit harder to get hold of now, but as others have pointed out they manage it to make their Yorkshire Puddings!
The no eggs thing would be fine with me as I don’t like them!

Yes we have shortage of eggs just now but my local shops from small shop to supermarket have all got eggs so how can such a large company not get eggs ????????

Lovely looking breakfast,got to be a crunchy fried slice instead of hash browns,yeah Yorkshire pudding on a breakfast not sure about that,but the price was a winner.👍👍👍
Yeah can’t knock the price point that’s for sure. I would have LOVED a fried slice rather than just bang average toast. The Yorkshire pudding still has me wondering, but I suppose if Toby were going to come up with a gimmick for their breakfasts then this is a memorable one! Thanks for watching
The price for what you can have is good vs any other breakfast place.
But it can be beaten by buying what you like and cooking at home.
you have to have more than 1 plate and a good mix of the more expensive to buy items.
