    Definitely not west coast. Pretty impressive hand. P.S. I am glad the you youngsters post this stuff... us old timers only have still photos to remind us of the old days. I worked with this old timer back in the 1970s gorge baumgardner...he used to say laddie, I come from the days when the rigs were made of wood and the men were made of steel. He must have been 60 years old and still throwing chain. Tough old guy.

    Those trucks look just exactly like the ones we all used over there 50 plus yes ago, Could that be true? Million pounds of Iron on a gravel road at best with Planetary rears and Never enough HP under the hood for the operation, Rig Iron is HEAVY! and drags hard. I do miss that life, but i got old just like those trucks but unlike those trucks I can not be fixed or rebuilt LOL.

    At 1:41 the front wheel jerks, did the axle break?

    I used to work for Bill Jackson Trucking and rig company in Oklahoma City. We moved a couple of these rigs without taking them down this one is called a Cantilever As riggers on a crane crew loved it too because we didn't have to tear it all way down we got back to the yard quicker. We did it all over Texas and Oklahoma sure brings back memories

    How many people have had to shut down a rig move to check the air in the sub structure tires ! 🤠

    I guess the trucks are nicely geared to stop them killing themselves. Amazing stuff :o)

      @@wormpie4932 Yep, huge planetary hubs, front and rear. You can clearly see them in this clip. But I think that for trucks that large, that's the only way drive axles are ever set up.

    Nothing changed. Santa Fe was doing this in the the 1970’s. Only difference is that then it was an expat walking in front of the 953, Now it is a local. Same 953, same idea of moving mast up with the sub base on bogeys. Same idea of moving prime movers in one piece. I think Santa Fe’s Sam Madley had a lot to do with the original concept and design.

    Just saying...I'm a student in molecular biology and Biomedical chemistry and I find this much more interesting / wish I had the experience to get hired in this field. Haha Oh and mind you I come from a "ARRGGG BLACK GROUND GOO THAT POWERS ALL OF OUR ELECTRONICS AND MAKES MODERN LIFE POSSIBLE = PURE EVIL" state. Lmfao

    • @GolfSux
      @GolfSux Рік тому

      You don't really need experience. You go to a trucking outfit and start as a swamper, which is a truckers helper. That's how you get the experience. You get thrown out to sling chain or whatever and if you have good work ethic, some companies will train you up to get your Class 1 or CDL, whatever the license is called where you're at.

    Wtf they have plenty of fuel, these should have 2000hp with 550 they barely move or stall

    • @GolfSux
      @GolfSux Рік тому

      Bro, hp doesn't pull, torque does. These trucks are most likely running 2000+ ft/lbs of torque.

    • @G55STEYR
      @G55STEYR Рік тому +1

      @@GolfSux Yes it does, because you pull at a certain speed and that's horsepower. What do you think hp is? It's torque multiplied by rpm

    • @GolfSux
      @GolfSux Рік тому +1

      @G55STEYR well at the speeds they are going, this is torque. My old W900 with an N14 Celect has around 1700-1900ft/lbs and 600hp. It is a beast. Are you saying if it was 1900hp and 600ft/lbs it would be better?

    • @G55STEYR
      @G55STEYR Рік тому +1

      @@GolfSux At any speed is power, energy. They are geared so low that the engine is at peak rpm at 3mph in lowest gear.
      There are trucks with 1900hp wouldn't you say they carry more weight?
      To have 1900hp and only 600ftlbs the engine would have to rev to 16.631rpm so not very practical for longevity of a truck, but way faster. Exactly 3 times as fast until you get to speeds where the aerodinamic drag matters. If you cand climb something steep with 10mph you would go 30mph with the 1900hp engine
