Another Thing. In 2015 Hasbro got the Jurassic world license they released a line that was so bad that 1 year later they Lost their license. Now mattle has the JW license and they have been pumping out bangers

The only Hasbro line I collect is Transformers. The fact that a lot of the budget goes towards the transformation makes me feel just slightly less annoyed by iffy paint and higher prices. But the quality control and customer service are still atrocious. I've been on the receiving end of both. I hadn't really heard of Jakks before I got into collecting their Sonic line last year. Which is crazy since the company does so many things better than Hasbro does. As sad as it is, Hasbro definitely wins in terms of accessibility of their products. While they sell out quickly, have way too many exclusives, and aren't distributed to stores well, at least you always have the option to preorder them. With Jakks lately, your only option is to either go to the store and hope for the best, or pay the ridiculous eBay prices. I sure hope Jakks fixes that issue. It's so annoying since they do pretty much everything else right. They even seem to be improving on the accessory issues they've had in the past.
Yeah, with Transformers, you have much more moving parts than a Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black figure, but that can lead to even worse quality control. Hell, the line's been plagued with a heavy yellowing problem since 2020, and they've done jack shit to fix it. I had to paint over my Kingdom Cyclonus's limbs, and my Tigatron from the same line looks like he rolled around in urine.
And you want to talk about distro? Distribution in Canada is fucking abysmal. Toys won't move for months, if not years, at a time. It took a good 2-3 yearsbefore any SS86 Sweeps left my local Wal-Marts, and even then I think I've seen one. Hell, half the shit I've seen people complain about I don't think have ever shown up in any store I've been to,
The Transformers side of Hasbro is the exact opposite. Still terrible distribution, but the QC issues are minor (like some paint chipping and loose joints) and the figures are made with lots of details and love. The engeneering and articulation is great. They can pull of poses that the Marvel Legend one even can't, and they are bigger and transform too. Some figures are bad, yes, but they are mostly bangers. Maybe because it's Takara that does most of the stuff, but Hasbro still does a lot too.
Probably because Hasbro owns Transformers, so they obviously put more effort in their own IPs.
Anyway Mattel, Jaccks, Hasbro... Doesn't matter because, in the end...

Story time: one time I got jakks 4inch shadow for Christmas and the arm was tight so I moved it then it freaking exploded and this happened again with tails so I had to rebuy shadow and tails

As someone who is addicted to transformers, it think I might prefer hasbro just because the focus much more on collectors. With transformers right know, they have been doing more and more characters that would be like if jakks came out and released and advertised cream the rabbit. Also rip all the transformers figures who are missing their heads cause people keep stealing their head.
The lack of plastic coverings on boxes proved to be a detriment for the Transformers toys especially. The toys either had parts stolen, from accessories to heads, or were just damaged. “Saving the environment” my foot.
While Transformers are overpriced nowadays, they do have very good engineering. The only thing Hasbro has over Jakks is that they have much better distrubution.

Honestly while Jakks is better I still do collect Transformers Generations and Gi Joe Classified figure’s because while yes they still have their issues it’s not as bad as Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series, for Gi Joe Classified the figures are a lot more poseable and for a standard $24.99 figure it comes with a lot of accessories which I feel like makes the price worth it, as for Transformers while it does suffer from quality control at times (especially with the yellowing problem) but you can at least tell that they have more effort put into it and that’s mainly thanks to help from Takara.

I agree that hasbro can be pretty bad for a company, back jakks can be as bad when it comes to release dates (especially in canada where i live) and the amounts of stock you get for the sonic packs.. aka almost all sonic figures and barely any other sonic character
Edit: also there main store is kinda shit. How can you have that sonic 3 pack with mecha, classic sonic and eggman be worth 25 bucks at target and somwhow increase the price to 50 bucks on your own website. That makes no sense

With the awful QC issues, high prices, and the fact they don’t even give a shit about power rangers anymore and aren’t doing LC anymore, I’m now just a pure Jakks collector which for their prices being good and the quality not being ass is good with me. Jakks probably gives more value for the price point, you get larger figures for the same price as regular figures such as Big the Cat and Vector. Hasbro on the other hand, if a figure is just slightly bigger, it's like almost double or more on the price. Like with regular figures being 25 and figures like the blob being 60. Hasbros plastic-free packaging is laughable, "hey let's save the environment by using less plastic but killing more trees for the more cardboard we use". lol

That's why I've been so picky and choosy with Black Series figures personally. And let's not forget how Hasbro loves cranking out the same goddamn shit in different packages almost every fucking wave instead of just feeding into the easiest profit known to fucking man which is basically the Clone Wars Era stuff. They could make a total killing off Clone Trooper repaints and different divisions coming with different shit, but instead are getting COMPLETELY DESTROYED by AliExpress KOs. Like for example, if you include Bad Batch, Hasbro has cranked out MAYBE 10 new clones? You know how many AliExpress cranked out in like 3 months? 20...fucking 20 including the newly released Wolfpack squadron which was REQUESTED! So I don't get Hasbro. Quality Control and pricing consistency has made them such a pain in the ass to deal with that it's no wonder why people have been purging their shit and going to like Hot Toys or something. Meanwhile Jakks is just cooking.
