  • Darrell Brooks continued to spar with Judge Jennifer Dorow ahead of jury instructions and closing arguments in his trial over the fatal crash at the Waukesha Christmas parade. Brooks wanted to know why he was not allowed to present more evidence and began making legal arguments that had no basis in fact. The judge eventually gave up and called for a recess, warning that any further interruptions from Brooks would lead to his removal to another courtroom.

Today you can see the sadness and defeat in his eyes and his lowered voice signals that he may actually be realizing who he is and what he has managed to do with his life. I’m just extremely sorry for the families and people of this town who have had to go through all of this. It was all so unnecessary. And he’s yet to show any sign of remorse, or heck any feeling of regret for what he did. Very sad case of a “human”.

And that soft, sad voice -- we sure didn't here that one in the court the past three weeks. He's been using his cross-examinations not for the case, but as a way of acting as the Class Grammarian, correcting the grammar and recollections of witnesses. And being the Torturer-in-Chief of emotionally scarred victims. And then, over almost 3 hours with Detective Campbell, Brooks nitpickingly goes through all his interactions with the detective, airing petty grudges, asking questions about police work he's always wondered about. Ex: Why didn't you tell me right away I was a suspect in the parade attack? Why didn't you interrogate me at THIS police building instead of THAT one? Why do you still have my red shirt and blue jeans?
Brooks basically was a second hammer nailing that case shut. Besides being obviously guilty as charged, he proved himself confoundingly manipulative, unlikable, hostile, and so self absorbed, he couldn't even take a moment to apologize to the victims and families. He alone -- not the judge, not his ex, not the detective -- is the source of all his problems.

He only said he didn't understand cuz he realized the judge wasn't playing anymore and that he was out of time
When she kept asking him multiple times if he was gonna testify. He refused to answer
So she had to say. If u don't answer I will HAVE to take that as a NO.
She asked again several times. He kept throwing a lil tantrum and didn't say a thing.
Now he wants to act like he didn't have enough the Chance? Plz
Then when she made her ruling. U can actually see on his face. "Oh sh¡t?.. I thought I was gonna have time to keep arguing back n forth all day"
He then realized he was out of time

This in no way showed him as an innocent defendant .He's a terrible "lawyer" ( represented himself.) if I ever saw one as well. He had no idea what a " subpoena " was during the trial , he tried to cross- examine witnesses , but without using clear , understandable language behavior in the courtroom. He would go off on random tangents, that had nothing to do with the trial . He questioned / was disrespectful to the judge, and her authority multiple times , and as a result was put into a different courtroom on more than one occasion. He chose to represent himself so the task falls on him to UNDERSTAND… Clearly he is NOT A LAWYER, and has no respect for the judge and judicial proceedings. A lot of time is being expended going back and forth with him. I’m AMAZED THAT HE HAS BEEN ALLOWED to behave this way.He has been communicating with her as though he knows her personally . His tone , body language….totally not respecting her position as a JUDGE.

Every time this man has been confused about something or couldn’t find something he acted as if it was their fault. When questioning the witnesses it’s almost like he thinks they’re on trial. It’s really weird. He keeps repeating that he doesn’t understand and she has told him that he chose to represent himself

He's a pathetic excuse of a man & he's shown no remorse whatsoever neither has he shown any respect for the Court or for the families of the deceased & injured. Honestly I'm against the death penalty but in this case I'm kinda wishing Wisconsin had that option available.
