In many ways he represents the mindset of a true scholar and researcher, untainted by personal bias or ideology. The sages, despite being scholars and academics, were blinded by personal ideological biases and views which ultimately tainted their research. They strike me as the types who would keep repeating experiments over and over, not to get a better understanding... but to instead force the conclusion they already had made. It's one of the reasons the Grand Sage was able to be tricked so easily... he lacked true curiosity and was blinded by his own conclusions and ignored all other ideas because they didn't 'fit'.
The Doctor however, is a researcher and scholar without such biases. He performs experiments because he's interested in the outcome and conclusion, whatever they may be, while the Akadymia sages instead did experiments seeking to come to a specific outcome. This is even shown in the Akadymia's views on Lesser Lord Kusanali; because she didn't "Fit" the idea and model they had for the Archon of Wisdom, she was shunned and 'hidden' from the world, because they couldn't let the common people possibly come to their own conclusions, right? Similar I would say to even real life academic institutions... how much are most people not informed about things because those with a monopoly on knowledge want to maintain that exclusive hold or force a specific ideological conclusion?
Simply put, symbolically the Sages represent the Scientific Method tainted by ideology and bias, while the Doctor (at least as he is now) represents the Scientific Method at it's most amoral and unbiased, purely interested in the results and not particularly invested in any one outcome.
This Archon quest is, in my opinion at least, the best thus far. It's had the most interesting twists, Nahida is pretty much the only Archon so far to both put up a decent fight (metaphorically speaking) for her gnosis, and even if she still lost her gnosis and the electro gnosis, it's completely believable that she would given the circumstances so I don't hold that against her at all. She did the very best she could with what resources she had available to her, and you certainly can't fault someone for that... and she still managed to get a good deal out of it anyways.
Dendro-loli is best Archon thus far... let's see if the Archon of Justice can top her

Paimon is again being hella sus at 0:27. You can see how Nahida instantly reacts to the sound wave that Dottore produced and becomes alert while the traveller just started to feel sleepy and stands there sort of confused.
We then see Paimon instantly react to the sound wave as well and if you look at the way she reacts instead of becoming sleepy and confused she seems frightened and covers her mouth. Then when she supposedly is asleep she is laying on the ground like someone playing dead.
Also if you remember the chasm quest Paimon still floats when she sleeps so it seems very likely that Paimon heard the whole conversation between Nahida and Dottore.

@@thatoneneeko2131 Yeah most likely a technical limitation. I certainly wouldn't invest resources in one single animation used for one very specific cutscene to be used basically never again. Roughly ~$400 worth of man hours for that... Yeah no, I'd have better use for that money.
I wasn't happy that she made a deal at first, but like what else could she have done? I think she made the most of the situation.
She cannot beat him in a fight and worst case he could harm us.
Not to mention she actually uses that knowledge she gained to help us IN A HUGE WAY.

Me too. It felt like the scene could fully breathe without her interrupting or repeating. I hope they do that more often, or at least tone Paimon down.
You know this is crazy when Dottore can create multiple version of himself on any ages he want. Though Nahida confirms all of their destruction, who's to say Dottoree aint making more or at least has backup plan like a mad scientist should. But this negotiation between Nahida and Dottore is amazing.

Finally an archon who actually stands up against the Fatui 😅. Venti was way too chill, Zhongli was like ‘I’m retiring’ and gifted the Fatui the Gnosis so fast and Ei was mumbling ‘eternity’ while meditating and not even paying attention to what was happening…
PS just wanna add that perhaps the gnosis’s may not be of so much importance in the first place that’s why the gods saw them as small trades OR they know the unrevealed truth behind the existence of Celestia and wanna cut ties with it so they were willing to give the ‘link’ or gnosis’s away.
My guess is that Teyvat is basically a lab (hint: the fake sky) that the Celestia observes and experiments on. Khaeniri’ ah was a failed experiment that the Celestia got rid off. The Cyro archon (Fatuis) and the twins are the only ones who know the truth.

One detail about Dottore's that's easy to pass unoticed is that his voice tone on the earlier cutscene and this one are different on purpose. They are not the same versions of Dottore and each talks on a different tone.

I love the complete disdain Nahida has for Il Dottore. Like typically even with people who have wronged her she still remains compassionate and cool but around Dottore she looks so on edge and just kind if disgusted with him. I have theory that if were getting a playable dottore it will probably one of his clones that has morals and will be helping us in secret and defect from dottore since the clones not only have differing personalities they also don't like each other, so maybe one of the clones had enough of his heinous methods and joins us instead

Edit : Actually, I think there is possibility for this segment to be playable. From what I heard, he said this version of him is the most selfish. Therefore, if something were to benefit him more than following the Tsarista’s orders, he’d easily give up on her, which makes him a candidate for playability (this reminds me of what Childe said about Arleccino).

They were also important to him, as he said it is like "plucking out the eyes i have placed in the dimension of time", and he had done that not because they were useless, but because he hated arguing with them and was the most egoistic clone.

I think Signora handled Mondstadt and Liyue pretty well actually, she was elegant with both of them. If she didn't die in Inazuma, who knows how well she would've handled the other nations Gnosis.
Dottore taking two Gnoses at the same time is impressive though.

@@simonrouse9461 Completely agree, Inazuma was a mess from start to finish. One thing that would've made it more bearable is if Scara and Signora swapped places.
It would've made more sense if it was Scara that died in Inazuma (and then got factory reset and became playable that way instead of... whatever the hell Wanderer is supposed to be). It would also fit really well with Raiden's lore, her mistake of not killing him initially finally catching up to her.
Signora has more in common with Sumeru than with Inazuma anyway, she actually studied there when she was Rosalyne. And since Nahida is a pretty compassionate Archon, she probably could've been redeemed by Nahida if she's willing to forgive people who've done worse than Signora like Scaramouche and the Sages.
But hey, there's been leaks about Signora showing up in Sumeru in a flashback, probably to flesh her out more? If they actually bother giving lore to a character that's dead and hated by the majority of the fandom for some reason, then it means they most likely have more plans for her.
I just can't wait for the mental gymnastics to make Arlecchino and Dottore playable, lol.
Its interesting that Nahida says ‘this foreign Gnosis will only lead to disaster if it stays in Sumeru.’ What does that imply about the Tsaritsa keeping all the Gnosis’ she’s collected in Shneznaya?

I thought about this too, I think she knows what she's doing and risking. I heard of a theory that the tsaritsa plays chess with celestia and if she wins, she'll be able to awaken them for a fight

I have a theory that Dottore used the knowledge canisters to store his segments in recorded copies. So when he said he could make better segments than he already had. I think is no bluff. He is a dangerous player and he knows how to play every hand he guests. Sheesh he seems to be the one handing out the hands.
i loved this quest so much. my jaw dropped. especially when nahida talked about the traveler’s twin. sumeru definitely has the best plot so far… and dottore. i wonder if he really deactivated all his clones. i still have so many unanswered questions though, like is he really zandik and if so why did he strangle an innocent girl? also in the future him or one of his clones might turn out to be good all this time which tires me because they’re repeating the same story all over again. i wonder if all playable fatui harbinger will have the same story of “actually, im a nice guy all this time”. bruh i hope mihoyo doesn’t stick to this cliche forever.

Obviously, that's not gonna happen because Snezhnaya is the last region before Celestia and shit really gets real, but I just...feel like they don't really lose. Sure, Signora and Scaramouche are out of the picture and Dottore now without extra eyes and ears, but those don't really feel like setbacks.
The voice acting is so amazing. The way their lines are delivered.. I can watch this cutscene over and over all day. The way Nahida talks could give you the chills sometimes (like in 06:27), and Dottore's voice is simply perfect for him.
And thus the Fatui got more fancy chess pieces- every archon quest

4 down and 2 to go. I'm curious on how the Fatui Harbingers are gonna steal the Hydro gnosis of Fontaine and the Pyro gnosis of Natlan. This Archon quest was perfect imo and a full redemption of the 2.x archon quest. I don't hate Ei but I feel it was a good build up with a fail in execution.
If the natlan and fontain archons are just as shity as the dendro archon in power it Will be easy for the fatuis to take them.

I don't think the "Fake Sky" is necessarily Forbidden Knowledge. The 2 infections happened once with king Deshret, and 2nd in Khaenri'ah. If it doesn't exist in Irminsul, no one in Teyvat would have any knowledge of it(except for the 4), to the point that history can be rewritten, and we just finished purging it.

@@metal9076 Scara used the traveler as an exchange token for trading the gnosis with Yae. Here we have once again a knocked out traveler, similar scenario, so people could expect Dottore trying to blackmail Nahida with the life of the Traveler.

They 100% did this scene to parallel the Yae-Scara confrontation lol they’re like “hey we did it right this time!”
@@ToscaTee Its alot better because unlike pervious archon quests we get to see things even when the traveler is not physically there/out of commission. The annoying part about the yae-scara interaction is that it happend entirely off screan.

Dottore chose to tread the path of making clones, so he can observe beyond the restriction of time. Funny because even though he's one of the top three ranked Harbingers whose strength outweighed many archons, he's essentially still mortal and powerless against time and erosion.
In Teyvat, even gods are susceptible to erosion, that what happened to Azhdaha, and that's also why Ei locked herself up in the Plane of Euthymia

I've been thinking, the Irminsul was polluted by forbidden knowledge right? And by forgetting Lord Rukkhadevata we're essentially removing the "pollution" but if Dottore has given this information that as he said is "one of the truths of Irminsul" which also means the forbidden knowledge, aren't we essentially just polluting it all over again?
Also I was shocked abt Nahida's revelation, it looks to me like the picture story we got in game was our origin perhaps?

We’re not sure how forbidden knowledge corrupt things, is it by simply knowing them or has to come into contact with the source which is the abyss(?) The concerning part is if Nahida or the Fatui dig deeper or mess with the Abyss Order that’ll corrupt Irminsul all over again

that's a possibility, but remember tha Rukkha told us that even she wasn't capable of understand the forbidden knowledge, so there're high chances that Dottore couln't either (if he even was able to find it out), hence I believe he told her some really deep cracked truths about the world but nothing related to that forbidden knowledge who seems to be incomprehensible for Teyvat's natives.

I found it funny how the weakest Archon made the biggest threat by awakening the Heavenly Principles. Nahida was willing to take a gamble by essentially calling Doomsday and this already makes her a better archon than the rest. This quest was SO good and developed. Bravo to the team for bouncing back

Maybe I'm reaching but what if this dottore segment knows about only a handful of segments that are disposable, so that when he has to get rid of them he can do it . 🤔 what's more is that Dottore even made sure that nahida confirms all segments are dead. In this way he can destroy all segments only he knows about when confronted honestly. 🤔
