Bodybuilding and strenght sports like powerlifting, strongman, arm wrestling are all unregulated and dependent on juicing. Of course a lot of athletes juice but at least there are regulations against it unlike the ones above where juicing is expected. Seeing how accessible and widespread steroids are, I just don't see how it can be stopped.

Not just roids, but other PEDs like SARMs and MK677. I have a natty friend at the gym who is in the top 1% of natty physiques and strength who is talking about taking MK677 during his next bulk. No real reason, he doesn't have a problem putting on weight. He's just been influenced into thinking an experimental drug isn't a big deal, he doesn't want to take gear but has talked openly about TRT when he's older.
I just think we've normalized so many maladaptive ideas and behaviors through our collective use of social media. Someone has to push back on this, those within the enhanced community don't do enough. Nobody is even fazed by the deaths anymore.
Pete Rubish is one of the only guys I respect, he was very open about the horrible side effects he had, and he went cold turkey. He's now a runner who lifts on the side, still pulling 550 on deadlift after not touching it for 3 months and after running 9 miles earlier in the day. He's dropped down to 200-ish pounds and looks 10+ years younger than he did 5 years ago! He seems to really regret using, and he was a guy at the highest levels of powerlifting and social media clout.

I couldn't agree with this video more. As a 76 year old who still works out with weights I began my journey into bodybuilding at age 15. As many young men at that time I was inspired by the classic physiques of Steve Reeves, Reg Park, Clarence Ross, John Grimek and others of that era. I was fanatic about watching my diet, taking protein supplements, drinking only water and milk and living a heathy lifestyle. My first experience with a bodybuilder who used steroids came when in 1967 when I was at Ft. Sam Houston in 1967. I came out of basic training weighing 155 lbs but in 10 weeks working out in our company gym, which rivaled a Gold's Gym, I had the opportunity to meet and workout with a former Mr. Illinois. He was a big fellow, over 220 lbs with a barrel chest. We became training partners and after 10 weeks I had gained 30 lbs of muscle! I was bench pressing over 325 lbs and squatting over 400 lbs. He was really excited about my progress and said that I was ready to go to the next level, meaning taking Dianabol. I told him that I wasn't interested in taking drugs and that I was into bodybuilding to improve my body and to remain healthy. He told me that if I didn't take steroids that I would never be successful in bodybuilding contests. I told him that I could live with that. Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet Chris Dickerson who later won the Mr. Olympia contest and Kevin Levrone who placed 2nd several times in the Mr. Olympia contest. I have never regretted my decision not to take steroids to aid in building my physique. I built 18" arms and a 47" chest the natural way and I still work out to maintain my strength although now my main goal is not getting injured. Steroids have ruined bodybuilding, professional wrestling, football and other sports as well. When I see stories of young men dying at an early age as a result of steroid abuse it makes me sad and a bit angry because these people are living for the moment and gambling with their future.

I get that people make bad decisions all the time, but the second you start allowing the government to interfere and restrict liberties for the common good, you start going down a path that leads you to ever-greater interference until you end up living in an authoritarian state. The question is what it does to your body long-term, and what happens when you stop taking it - you never solved the underlying problems, so if you stop taking it your appetite comes back and you'll pile that weight back on in record time...
I've had people tell me it's fine and that expecting people to make changes to their lifestyle is unrealistic or even unfair. The idea that you should be able to fix everything with a pill is dangerous, but very widespread.

I stopped watching Sam once he went on accutane weirdly enough. When I was in high school I developed cycstic acne and it was horrible, so accutane was the only option. When you go on that drug you are presented with a giant fold-out pamphlet of the list of side effects. It's extremely harsh on the body, I suffered from depression, stomach cramps, and my lips peeling off the whole way through. It's extremely hard on your kidneys and if you're already on steroids I can't imagine the damage it will do.
When I saw Sam go on accutane to curb his acne I couldn't get over how casually he took it, and what he must already be putting his body through. It completely turned me off from his channel because I do not believe he will see past 30, I honestly don't know if he will even make it another 5 years. You can watch him turn red and dyspneic from just sitting in his car or talking which happened to Rich Piana towards the end of his life. I volunteer EMS and I can tell you this dude is in really really bad shape, he's showing all the signs of heart failure and it's getting worse.
The last thing is that I've been going to the gym for years, and now I'm seeing tons of kids pour in copying his training style. They know he's on roids but still copy what he does as if it still applies to them. People are quick to hate on fake natties (e.g. David Laid) but a lot of guys could achieve a close enough physique while staying lean and off drugs. Sam is whole different beast, where following his regimen as a natural lifter will not get you even close to how he looks and he's clearly abusing steroids which might push people to do the same.
Idk man, this whole situation is massively fucked up.

Of course it probably pales in comparison with other natty transformations but I gained a lot of muscle with full body workouts. To a point. Then I found I could add another set and another and did that. Too exhausting. So I switched to push pull split, for the most part. . Usually doing legs with either one. So my advice wouldn't be push pull ( legs ) for a beginner. Or doing 6 sets. Just trying to do the same thing as someone else with different weights, natty or not, is probably not the best idea. I remember being toast after 3 good sets.

As an always and ALL WAYS all-natural 54-year-old female bodybuilder bodybuilding for over 41+ years (started at 13), I completely agree with what you are saying here. Recently, I was wondering why there is not a community of those like myself who are lifelong non-competitive bodybuilders because we make up the majority of bodybuilders. Those who merely appear to be seen the most do not represent to ANY accuracy what bodybuilding really is and the spirit of it is. Thus, the solution is for more all-natural bodybuilders to engage in social media and show people what a normal, non-chemically enhanced physique looks like and how they achieve it through balanced nutrition, balanced workouts, stemming from a balanced mind that is aware that "more and more often with pharmaceuticals" is NOT the answer for a healthy long life. At 54, I am in the top 3% of health and physique and have had breast cancer. I am living proof that while it is true life happens, one can become a living example of what a true natural aesthetic and healthy physique looks and functions. Unfortunately, with over two-dozen young "enhanced" bodybuilders dying last year, these and those who are following in their footsteps will never know what it is to live to be 40 much less 50+. Thank you for making this video to open dialogue on this very serious issue. I say we form a community called "Natural Natty Life".

What a marvellous message you have sent out Dante. It's great to see you and your partner and pet at the end, like a wonderful family that is enjoying health and life which the development of natural strength brings. I think I may have said this before, but I will say it again...modern bodybuilding is nothing more than chemically enhanced muscular obesity. Why "muscular obesity", because the amount of muscle obtained puts the body in an obese state. And if you understand obesity, obesity can be morbid, which means that it can cause disease. The physiques are taken to a point that is not just unattainable, but that causes disease. It is no surprise that most modern BB that push the limit die of cardiovascular or kidney issues, and if you compare the blood parameters of BB who have passed away, the results shows that they were suffering from severe metabolic disease. This modern drug trend is no longer a reflection of health and strength, but a chemical race to be the biggest, freakiest guy on stage, and an unfortunate race to the grave.

In the end, what convinced me to not take them was the price. To get the good roids you pay a heavty price. Than you pay even more to get rid of the side effects. In the end I calculated c.a. 700€ a month just for the drugs. Together with a good gym and the cost for a better meal plan, it would have been a 1000€ every month. Long term effects aren't even in there.

Steroids are cheap. A testosterone cycle can cost you as little as 25€ a month. Even pretty heavy cycles can be done for under 100 easily. In many countries in Europe you can buy testosterone amps from a pharmacy for like 5€ each, in theory you need a prescription but in practice you just need to know a guy who works there.

Their families don't appear to be freaking out, viewers who'd flip right out on Eugenia Cooney are fine with this, and nobody is talking about the impact it has on boys, and men in midlife who become vulnerable as they're starting to lose strength. There's no treatment centres, as far as I know it's not in the DSM, psychiatrists aren't out in droves talking about it, and promotion of an activity that is being abused in a way that destroys bodies is not even up for debate.
The lack of response is bizarre - completely fascinating - but bizarre.

Yeah, well said. The medical / psychological fields and discussions seem very out of touch and often just won't acknowledge issues like this with any degree of seriousness. I wouldn't even say this is as widespread as anorexia for girls and women, but it definitely can have, and is already having a big impact on lots of guys' self esteem at all ages - and who knows, maybe it could become as widespread if left unchecked. I think it goes a lot deeper than just this stuff though, seeing lots of young guys with really bad anxiety and self esteem it is one of many issues that does not get spoken about very transparently and just generally the pressures young boys and guys in general are faced with are not taken very seriously or even talked about and that seems pretty stupid if ya ask me.

Bronze and Silver Era would be sad to see this.
Even golden Era guys like Arnold dont really like those freak bodybuilders.
for me it would be ok if there are different classes that have high level natural bodybuilders in it. But even the natural classes nowadays often look roided.
and the overall flexibility and muscle control is totally lost in bodybuilding nowadays.
but to be honest.. lots of testosterone abuse comes from low test levels in general.
nowadays test levels are way lower then in the past. Its our food, water, air.. lifestyle, clothing etc. (-30 to -50% lower test levels nowadays!)
So many feel already weak and chose roids. Just to be a bit more masculine and stronger.
And im sure many then get addicted to the "power" it gives u.
and gaining natural testosterone is hard.. no fap is hard.. clean eating can be hard.. and all those things like maca, ashwaganda etc. just help a little and is hardly noticeable.

You bring up some good points and I’m not sure on the solution. I think the environmental factors need to be better labeled, like what clothes specifically have hormone-similar compounds. We have done this with BPA bottles and now most bottles are BPA free, by merely shining a light on it people can better make choices that will have a positive effect on their hormones. Lifestyle factors are still being studied, things like no fap don’t seem to effect testosterone but I’m sure there are a litany of other lifestyle factors that are important. Lastly there’s diet, and the war on fat is terrible for hormones but fortunately that has been shown to be misguided however with the large variety of foods it can be hard to tell what exactly could be effecting hormones so negatively, soy for example has been demonized but now studies have shown that the hormones might have a negligible effect and with dairy, etc. who knows.

Hey man, I added German subtitles, they are google translated so probably not perfect but hopefully good enough to understand the video. It's nice to see a father and son interested in natural bodybuilding. Best wishes.

I wish body building could return to men showing what peak human strength, health, and perform looks like. I want to see a Greek god on stage, not some grotesque mound of muscle and flesh. You should tell all the roid users they can't make more gains because it's a skill issue.

You are exactly what more kids need to hear. I am 15 and I have been working out for about 2 years. It breaks my heart to see how fucked up my beloved sport has gotten. Thannyou for sharing this knowledge.

Great video, you held nothing back, it needed to be said & needs to be said more. The mass monsters & top level naturals are both the furthest from health. The greats of the past would vomit if they could see what it's all come to

Glad to see this video released. I think Sam is a very funny guy and does genuinely have a passion for the sport. The problem being the sport itself, and influences he had when he started. I worry a lot about the people who watch him since I can almost guarantee he is going to end up inspiring multiple people to hop on gear for the sake of temporary gains. Like you said in the video bodybuilding is a health oriented sport and not just some sort of beauty pageant for grown men. Its a sad thing Sam never got see the other side of the sport.

I agree. Hate the game, not the player. Sam is a genuinely cool dude but he seems heartbroken and using gear to cope.

The unrealistic expectation steroids create in beginner lifters is just so sad. Especially considering that when beginners see the limitations of natural physiques, they lose interest in lifting. It is possible to have a nice physique naturally (I have done it many times), but so few natties have nice physiques that beginners fail to get inspired.

Y’all are gonna hate me for this but,
2011-2017 Men’s Physique was the most Aesthetic period in all of history. Right before they turned into Classic competitors. They looked awesome and certain people might actually be able to reach that naturally.
    That’s what I’m shooting for.
Sadik, Ferguson, Buendia, they looked awesome back then before they turned into massive Fiends.

I watched a bulking video with Sulek where he downs half a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch before his late morning training session. Yeah, he can get away with eating junk like that in his early 20's (and metabolize all the sugar and carbs because of drugs and huge amounts muscle mass) but it catches up with you pretty quick.

I'm 31, been training for 4 years now, first year mainly to lose weight as I was inactive and was around 120 kg. I got to 90 kg in a year and stayed on 90 kg for 3 years but built muscles naturally and also doing lots of calisthenics. I feel strong, fast, functional, healthy and happy. I'm 189 cm / 6.2 so 90 kg is actually very ideal for me. I could look a bit more defined but who cares but me? I have a balanced life now and there's years of more progress ahead of me :)

Real Bodybuilding ended around 1980 shortly after the Zane-Arnold-Columbo-Ferrigno era. Even though most of the guys from that era juiced, they still had a natural aesthetic, and they didn't become so big and massive that they lost their athleticism, flexibility, and symmetry within a borderline natural frame. Even still, many from that era saw condequences from the minor cycles they took. Today's, not only bodybuilders, but also anyone surrounding the orbit resort to major stacking of a multitude of artificial enhancers, which loses the true appeal that was set forth and laid out by the earlier eras. It's all about trying to make money for them in their wins and garnering of attention, but the art has been completely lost.

12 year training natural. I'm 34 years old now first 8 years I did the bulk cut cycle. I've done strength training, crossfit style training, but my base has also been bodybuilding Frank Zane was a big inspiration for me. I've also loved bodybuilding and the pushing of the body with and without PEDs biohacking. But recently I've noticed a big drop off personally in training recovery, over all feeling of health. And I've been on the fence of going and getting on trt because it's a life long contract. I am going to get blood work done at the end of the month for myself to see where my levels are. Will I get on PEDs is still in the air.

You need to take more rest days. As a natural lifter and especially getting older you should always take a rest day after weight training. 2-3 times a week for someone your age
