My experience using these and reviews of others is that you really need to install the protective stick on foam that comes with these aftermarket covers. If you don’t take the time to put on the foam they will scratch your rims apparent once you take them off.
Another thing that most people may be unaware of, is the clips holding the covers on can also scratch the rims, and some are also so brittle, they break, making a horrible noise as the wheel rotates.
That’s also true of the OEM covers. The only clip issue I had was with one of the Tesla ones. Both sets of EV Base covers I have tested have no clip as such - the moulding of the covers end in a clip. I don’t see how they could break as described without the whole thing g shattering. We destroyed the rim of the last set as you see on the video and the clip end was entirely intact. This is why I’m recommending ones at a similar cost to the Tesla OEM ones and not the very cheap ones off Temu!
I only issue with how you installed the centre Tesla logo, it would look much nicer *IF* you had pointed the bottom of the T towards the valve stem. That way it would look more professional.
Nice wheel covers Ian 👍 I bought a set of wheel covers from TESSORIES when I got my Model Y in 2023 and they have held up really good. Hope you're well.
I could not agree more Ian. I have a set from EVBase and have just ordered a 2nd set ‘just in case’. I have gone for the aerodisc style (which divides opinion!… but I love). They *do not* improve range…. Or not that I can detect. But they do protect the rim, which is the main reason for getting them.
Off topic. Coming up from London on the M40, nav sent me to a supercharger after the toll road so I ended up in traffic I usually avoid. The toll could have been the slower route, but it had picked the supercharger at the start of the journey.
Yeah I got these. They started to rattle. Upon removal I found that they had actually damaged the alloys underneath and the plastic was so brittle that many parts of it snapped off on removal. Only had them six months. Avoid.
I've had 4 sets of wheel covers (all chinese via AliExpress) with built in rim protectors, why 4 ? Because between me, and my wife, we are terrible parkers. Mind you, the idiotic councils that insist on building curbs out of basalt blocks beggars belief. My current set of CyberTruck style covers on my Model Y look like rats have been chewing at them...

I had very good experience as well with wheel cover which covers the alloy wheel on my M3 RWD. Good choice Ian!
Great news Ian,glad they saved your Alloys and I agree that the neewer ones are a better looking design.

Pointing to the valve stem is a brilliant idea !
Nice wheel covers Ian 👍

They do look very nice, but I’m sure the centre cap will fly off fairly soon.
Previous ones didn’t!
Congratulations!
Nice covers. Do you have a discount code for other Tesla models?
Works for any of their products - JGAT at checkout
Ok, thanks 👍

I had the previous ones on for similar. You saw on the video - no damage. No rattle either.
@@justgetatesla Lucky you. Pure luck if you get good ones or not.
Well I’m on my second set. No rattles.
I find the price ridiculously high for 4 plastic wheelcovers🤔
Tesla ones are £120 for a set. These are £146 for a set with the JGAT discount code. More expensive yes. But more functional too
which is remarkably similar to the cost of a wheel refurb. Good value in my opinion
