I seriously thought this was a remake not a remaster. Oops, I guess that would make more sense... Either way, hopefully this will also boost sales for the original so we can FINALLY get a sequel.
Yeah it is basically a port remaster to restart the franchise. They are making a new expansion already for this and I bet they are already building a sequel (they did the same thing with Darksiders).
@@PartStupid Darksiders didn't have Electronic Arts as a publisher, so if Re-Reckoning doesn't sell much better than the original, there will be no sequel.
@@vladdracul5072 - I don't understand your reasoning at all. - First off what does the fact that EA published the original release have to do with anything? THQN sets more then reasonable expectations for sales of their releases (for example they told an interviewer that they budgeted Darksiders 3 to only need to sell 100,000 copies to consider making Darksiders 4 and this was long after the remasters... also they started making Darksiders 3 before the remasters came out and they starting making Darksiders Genesis before Darksiders 3 was released... basically this is all evidence that contradicts your odd reasoning but if you have info and insight that I do not please let me know as these are my two favorite franchises and I watch them very closely and would want to know if I missed something). Also as a remaster I would be my left arm they set the expectations and budget below even 100,000 sales needed (as that was their bar for a full Darksiders 3 to Darksiders 4 release and not even remasters). - Another point would be that they did not buy these IPs to do only remasters. They did not make and investment to only try and get pennies when they could get decent profit on a bigger and longer term scale. From a business perspective that would make zero sense. And again their past behavior shows they are probably already making a new game (and we know they are already making a new expansion for this old game).
@@PartStupid Okay, my bad, I just saw that EA is just the publisher for the original, not for Re-Reckoning, so there's indeed hope for a sequel. With EA involved it would have been all about the money though - no sales, no sequel.
@@vladdracul5072 - Ohhhhh. Okay that makes sense. An easy mistake for sure. And yes I agree if EA still had their greasy paws on this IP you would be absolutely correct.
Watching Ellen in Character creation and realising a major reason I could never stream playing games is that I would never get out of character creation in under an hour, among many other reasons I'm sure :P Thanks for sharing the game with us :)
The best part of the side-by-side intro scene was watching it again in 3D. If you're familiar with stereoscopic vision you can look at the line between both videos and slowly cross your eyes until the 2 images overlap in the middle and it will appear as 3D. It is a strain on the eyes and not everyone can do it, but if you can give it a try.
@@TheFirstCurse1 yeah. I mentioned in another comment that i had no idea this was a remaster till she said it and because I owned the original on steam, i got 60% off which made the $50-$60 game including the old and new dlc about $21 for me

1:33:30 It was Mass Effect 3. I remember, because you needed to play the demo for one game to get the unlock for the OTHER game. In other words, to get the armor and daggers in Amalur, you needed to play the ME3 demo, and playing the Amalur demo unlocks SOMETHING in ME3, can't remember what. It especially stuck in my head when I realized that the demos only counted for the CONSOLE you played them on, even if you are using the same ********* account! Given that I was playing Amalur on PS3 and ME3 on PC, it took contacting *TECH SUPPORT* to figure out that I needed to play both demos *AGAIN!*
As someone who has only managed a small amount of time in KoA to begin with, as I only discovered it last year, I'm pretty excited to see someone really into this game and seems to give it the love I think it deserves and even though I probably won't see these live I will definitely end up watching any and all of these that you do as vods
Honestly, my favorite part of streams like this are when they start with technical difficulties. Not because I like people being frustrated, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who deals with it 😅. Serious though, excellent stream
30:22 and character creation is done. Even ignoring that 2/3 of that was the intro running twice, other technical issues and waiting for the stream to start; that is considerably less time than I thought she was going to spend making a character
Nice to see England's Parliament pas the 'Let's Make Ellen Rose Happy Day' legislation. May we all see our all favorites redone so well (anyone with me on a remastered Smash TV?).
45:56 You can use controllers for PC though. If you continue this game on your livestream (pls do), then get an XBox controller for PC for max comfort. (And to stay away from those spiders, they don't scare me in appearance but they do pop out of the ground unexpectedly throughout the game)
I've started kingdoms of Amalur fairly blindly a couple of weeks ago, mainly because Ellen frequently mentioned it with such enthusiasm, I couldn't help but trust her opinion. Happened to roll a Dokkalfar aligned with Lyria, although male. Loving it so far, lore, look & gameplay. Thanks to Ellen for a great, and very sincere tip.
I play it on PC using a Xbox controller, it seems better with controller then mouse and keys to me. I never actually played the original, I noticed the remaster coming, and got into it because of Ellen always saying so much good about the game in the videos, and when there was a remaster coming out I thought I give it a go then, and I think its great, also probably might be a blessing to me that I didnt play the original, so I get to experience everything here like its brand new and awesome.
I love that someone loves this game and world as much as or even more then me! I put over 300 hours into the first release and original expansion. I am starting it again and plan to do another full run through getting ready for the new Fatesworn expansion next year. I called my character "Alyx Shir" this time around as I thought it kinda makes sense as he is a male Dokklefar but the name could work for a female Dokklefar as well and would be Alyn's twin.
I got my copy yesterday and started it, went for the PS4 version this time rather than the PC version. Brings back good memories and very happy with it, I expected the look and gameplay to be a lot worse compared to more recent games but I was pleasantly surprised.
Good to see Ellen playing and being so enthusiastic about the game; have to say the "re-reckoning" is a bit underwhelming so far, some nice graphical touches here and there but mostly it just looks as it did, which was good to begin with. On the issue of controls; just use a controller Ellen! I played KoA with a Steam Controller, but if you have a PS3 or PS4 controller lying around there are tools you can get to use those (KoA might see it as an Xbox controller but it works just fine).
OK, looked yesterday and was thinking it was a crime how there was no video of Ellen covering Re-Reckoning yet, when I first heard it announced my first thought was "Ellen is going to be so hype". Hope this is a series.
Currently replaying the 360 original, it's my comfort game. As a huge fan of the dark elf trilogies by salvatore back in the day I was/and still am totally enamoured with this game. I would have loved to see an expansion n this universe. You hav never seen a happier person than me the first time I heard Ellen mention this game and know what it was. Edit, personally I wld love to have the gnomes with broad West Country accent. Tht wld be much better than bad Scottish.
True things just look darker in this "remaster" and I played warmastered a few months back and it looked so much nicer than the original. Side note I still need to play genesis but the change to the Diablo style camera view after 3 games with a 3rd person perspective feels so weird to me.
Thank you so much for making this video! If it wasnt for you showing up on my feed, i would've never found out that KoA:R got remastered! And since I owned the original on steam, I get 50% off the remaster as well as the 10% new release bonus!
Without doing a side by side, I can't really tell the difference between PS3 and PS4. But it is nice to be playing this without having to break out my PS3 disks from the back of the shelf. It's also nice to see a re-release simply because that means maybe there's some hope in this franchise yet. And to think, you've been one of the biggest voices for this. Thank you so much!
The Leveling system in this game is amazing. You can spend points in any tree you like, and quests -though strongly flavored in the image of these trees- are never locked behind a level in any tree. Equipment usually is, but quests never. Also, the most powerful skills are Detect Hidden, Blacksmithing, Sagecraft, then tier 2 for Lockpicking and maybe Alchemy. Dispelling is weird, because you have your own skill in the minigame next to the skill value.
I've started playing this game since the stream, and I just wanted to say.... thank you. It took a while to get into but the story is excellent, the side quests are amazing and the levelling up system may be a little outdated but it does so much more than a lot of other games.
Ellen! I found out the original KOA made only about 2000 copies of the Special Edition, which fyi had a deck of Fate cards you can't get anywhere else, a map, the soundtrack and some other goodies. The collector's edition had a statue of a troll and made only 700. It's better than what you get in the Re-reckoning SE but it is ultra rare. There's like 2 people selling it on ebay. I saw it and really wanted to get it for you but the prices are crazy.
My playthrough on og reckoning is a dokkalfar, and I liked that said character has a "history" with my character that my character just don't remember being undead and all
Well, so the happy otters at the beginning screen are not gonna be the most adorable thing in the stream for a change Ellen playing the game of her life is 100% the cutest thing ever
I haven't noticed many graphical issues on the Xbox One, it's just that achievements won't record because we haven't gotten the patch yet. I'm really impressed that they managed to mix the audio so Alyn isn't 1000 times louder than everyone else no matter how low you have your TV, like in the original, though. Best improvement so far.
I genuinely found this channel bc of how much I love KoA and was trying to find literally anyone else online talking about it, it feels such an overlooked and forgotten game but it‘s so close to my heart. I love how much Ellen loves it too, feels right, like your child finally being appreciated for all their hard work 😂
I've started out as a might/finesse hybrid, but now i'm at switching over to a magic/might/finesse hybrid, because this game actually makes it possible. Love love love the chakrams! :D
The sacred game!!! My go to combo of weapons has always been chakram and bow. I also used blacksmithing a lot because in the end you just got weapons stronger than any legendary XD
Thank you for this awesome video Ellen , KOA is one of my favourite fantasy RPG video games. Spent a lot of time playing the orgnail 360 version and picked up the remaster version for my PS4 can't wait to get stuck in and play it :)
1:58:00 Philosophy fact: in real life, saying two people have the same face is to say they look alike, so to say I look like someone else because we have the same face, is what's called tautology. Think, "the sky is blue because it's blue." Necessarily true, but useless. In a video game, however, the developers literally can isolate and duplicate a face, giving two people identical faces. So here, to say two people look alike because they have the same face isn't tautology! They were literally, actually given the same face asset, and that's why they look alike. Cool, huh? ... Oh. Right. Just me.
I usually prefer melee characters(rouge/assassin/fighter/duelist), like a combination of finesse and might...but the magic animations of this game are awesome, so I often go "Opa Gandalf-style"
This is bringing back memories. I didn't get super far into this game (because it's pretty big I think) but the spider and Barten stuff is all coming back to me watching this. Tempts me to go back and play again/more.

Oh, and Rogue is still just as OP as i remember, to the point where i had to restart as a mage, given that i never finished the original with a pure Mage, because of an INFURIATING crash that corrupted my save after more than 50 hours of play! So now is the time i finally do a complete mage playthrough...
Gary will never become extinct as long as vault tech keep cloneing him
"Gaaaaary~"
"Hahaha, Gaaryy~"
"We must save my family!"
I’m so excited to watch Ellen play this game! Her passionate descriptions of this game made me buy it and I’m so glad I did. I’ve been hoping to see her play this game so I’m glad she finally is
Ellen was the reason I played the original. Great game. Probably won't get this until all the added content is out and then i'll get the complete set. I can finally complete my ideal build with the added levels
1:48:30 Oh, so Shepard's armor is *the* Shepard's? I guess I just noticed that very late :D
...
"I'm commander Shepard and this is my favourite Kingdoms of Amalur let's play on the Citadel... ähm... UA-cam."
@Greed1914 Really? lol, that's cool :)
At 1:21:55 I looked it up, that character was actually voiced by Matthew Mercer!
Watching Ellen in Character creation and realising a major reason I could never stream playing games is that I would never get out of character creation in under an hour, among many other reasons I'm sure :P
Thanks for sharing the game with us :)
I look forward to the Fatesworn expansion coming in 2021.
If you are a Willow fan like me, you will appreciate Elwin and Tuatha even more.
Out of the way peck
Brownies?
"Spawning of goodies is a little bit random" right after looting a ring with a fixed location XD
KoA:R is such an underrated game. Its nice to see channels still play it
This is the remaster though. Hopefully it will sell a lot more.
@@TheFirstCurse1 yeah. I mentioned in another comment that i had no idea this was a remaster till she said it and because I owned the original on steam, i got 60% off which made the $50-$60 game including the old and new dlc about $21 for me
@@nexinator335 That's just sad. You can tell that they barely did anything with the graphics, if they did even do anything. I can't even tell which is which in the comparison. Well atleast you got it for cheaper though. It's not a bad game by any means, I just wish the graphics were atleast slightly updated.
the fae groaning in the background of the conversation with Herc was unintentionally kinda funny ^^;
Real drama fae😂
I remember you're lets play on the original its cool to see you replaying it 😁
1:33:30 It was Mass Effect 3.
I've actually recently bought the game because Ellen kept mentioning it. Still haven't played it, but I'm looking forward to it.
Actual Start is 20:00
first 20 was crashes and Ellen trying to use OBS on PC 😝
Nice to see England's Parliament pas the 'Let's Make Ellen Rose Happy Day' legislation. May we all see our all favorites redone so well (anyone with me on a remastered Smash TV?).
45:56 You can use controllers for PC though. If you continue this game on your livestream (pls do), then get an XBox controller for PC for max comfort. (And to stay away from those spiders, they don't scare me in appearance but they do pop out of the ground unexpectedly throughout the game)
this is the first game i got all the achievements on thanks to you Ellen, and i enjoyed every second of it
1:43:44 Tiny detail, but I love how Agarth approaches from the door now instead of just fading in.
1:19:24 - here we go again. Enjoy.
1:18:18 A Minnesota shoutout! Woo!
Dokkalfar and lightalfar are based on ancient Celtic folk tales about " the fair folk " ie: elves hence the accents
Weird that the game doesn’t look remastered. It looks like a port. Weird mostly because darksiders Warmastered was actually well remastered.
Gameplay starts at 34:00
Without doing a side by side, I can't really tell the difference between PS3 and PS4.
My playthrough on og reckoning is a dokkalfar, and I liked that said character has a "history" with my character that my character just don't remember being undead and all
Even if it isn’t the best Remaster, Ellen having fun in character creation once again pushed me to buy this game mid-video. “Ellen was right”
Well, so the happy otters at the beginning screen are not gonna be the most adorable thing in the stream for a change
Ellen playing the game of her life is 100% the cutest thing ever
I haven't noticed many graphical issues on the Xbox One, it's just that achievements won't record because we haven't gotten the patch yet. I'm really impressed that they managed to mix the audio so Alyn isn't 1000 times louder than everyone else no matter how low you have your TV, like in the original, though. Best improvement so far.
I genuinely found this channel bc of how much I love KoA and was trying to find literally anyone else online talking about it, it feels such an overlooked and forgotten game but it‘s so close to my heart. I love how much Ellen loves it too, feels right, like your child finally being appreciated for all their hard work 😂
Grant Kirkhope did such a great job with the Soundtrack, too- I listen to the OST when I study
I've started out as a might/finesse hybrid, but now i'm at switching over to a magic/might/finesse hybrid, because this game actually makes it possible. Love love love the chakrams! :D
In reckoning I've done one playthrough about 2/3 through and I love daggers chakram more than I thought I would
The sacred game!!! My go to combo of weapons has always been chakram and bow. I also used blacksmithing a lot because in the end you just got weapons stronger than any legendary XD
Starting tech troubles... instant connection with every teacher going through virtual instruction on the first day of school.
Thank you for this awesome video Ellen , KOA is one of my favourite fantasy RPG video games. Spent a lot of time playing the orgnail 360 version and picked up the remaster version for my PS4 can't wait to get stuck in and play it :)

Philosophy fact: in real life, saying two people have the same face is to say they look alike, so to say I look like someone else because we have the same face, is what's called tautology.
Stream starts at 4:38
I just want to say, despite being late to this: Your love for this game is still legendary in the community. Your still being quoted as being right on the Steam pages for the game(s).
Starts at 4:40
Ellen repeating "this is fine" over and over is a strong 2020 mood, heh.
I honestly would love a full let's play because this game is dope but there aren't many quality let's plays. Ellen's commentary is also great.
If you guys don't see Ellen for a while on OutsideXtra, well, now you know why.
It's really nice to see a games video where the presenter is just thoroughly enjoying the experience.
I was honestly waiting for this ever since I first heard re reckoning was announced
Her pure excitement right at the start.
Wow. Ellen's passion for this game just exudes from this video.
I, too, finally gave in and got this game today, and I needed to find someplace to come and say OMIGOSH I LOVE IT. I’m already so attached to my character, and the tutorial part was just right for me. Thank you, Ellen 😄😄😄
I picked this game up a week ago and I've already put 72 hours into it. I've listened to Ellen talk about it for a couple years, and I decided to give it a try. Love love love this game!
"I can't think of anywhere worse to wake up..."
I can. The same pile, a week later.
Ellen. I want to thank you. It was you, complaining about the Warsworn questline, that got me to look into and ultimately purchase the original game on Steam. Now we have the Remaster and I have that as well. I love this game.
As a PC gamer, I always play games with mouse and keyboard... except Kingdoms of Amalur and Anthem. I use my XBox controller for them XD
