#Stellantis #AutoMakers #CarPrices
Stellantis is going to learn the hard way that building WAY overpriced garbage has never been a winning business model.
Lee Iacocca who now?
They’ve produced garbage for well over 50 years.
So you’re ok with garbage as long as it’s cheap?
Stellantis is an idiot. Jeeps are already made to break.
@@Bonanzaking hey some of that Lee Iacocca garbage is still driving around out there.
@@Bonanzaking It's a cost/quality ratio analysis, if the qualities not good it better be cheap.
Killing the V8 HEMI, Increasing prices, Ignoring customers feedback. horrible new models.
@@user-mf6kz3ld5r Gladiators are very expensive, Limited & weak engine options.
That is all correct. Consequence of putting Europeans in charge that are clueless about the American brands and markets. Such a shame
Government regulations and mandates killed the V8...
everything they sell is at least twice as expensive as it should be.
Stellantis has a major quality problem
All manufacturers do.
Even Toyota has trouble now
A major everything problem, really
Isn’t the Dodge charger a very reliable car? I thought I saw that even consumer reports was super impressed
wait, so you're saying not everyone can afford a 80k truck? get out
yeah because they're sticking a gun in your face and forcing you to buy a huge, ridiculously over optioned truck
@@connor_flanigan I believe you are missing the point.
they stopped making any affordable vehicles at all. all of them stopped.
who do you suppose is going to but all the 80k trucks?
kids just out of school? people just getting by that need basic transportation?
it doesn't matter. they will all be out of business soon for their folly.
@@charleswidmore5458 trust me - I know. I tried to buy a $24k transit connect for several years. they're no longer available. I ended up buying a $47,000 Dodge Challenger. the transit ballooned to nearly $40k before they ceased importing them. wasn't paying that for a 4 cylinder, front wheel drive panel van. and yes, the big 3 are setting themselves up for catastrophic failure in the next few years. but I still see plenty of these Learjet on a truck frame monstrosities rolling down the road - so obviously someone is buying them.
They are not here to sell you a $80k truck. They are here to sell you a $1k/month truck that will end up costing you $100k plus in the end!
The bigger issue is that it's a piece of crap
The cheapest Stellantis product at my local dealership is a 35k Compass. The next cheapest is a 45k base Wrangler Sport. Stellantis can go straight to hell.
35K isn't a lot of money. Sorry to break the news to you but 35K doesn't buy much.
@@davidporter7051 Not at Stellantis.
35k for a poor quality Compass? 😂
@@thundergato84 They'd probably want $30k for Yugo if they made it.
Compass prices should be $18-25k. That's not a $30k+ vehicle.
So I know the GM of a jeep/dodge here in LA (also own a honda dealer) and he said they are paying 70k a month just to park cars that are not selling. That was December.
Almost like when you raise prices beyond what people can’t afford, they stop purchasing. Nah couldn’t be that.
We all need to nip this price gouging in the bud. DON'T BUY! ANY NEW CAR!
Nobody can!
I would never buy a Stellantis product even at a discount !
I wouldn't accept one for free.
@@rights_are_god_given liar!
@@Deke1 😂
Stellantis has never been a strongest seller. They had a niche market of having desirable models due to V8 engines at a lower price than their competition. Now they don't have either.
And they are still keeping their prices up. 🤦♂️
At least the Plymouth division died before it could turn into this.
Stellantis CEO always looks like hes on a coke binge.
Here's your sign.. 😂
Ya cant fix stupid....
Stellantis is misreading the room when it comes to the American market. Dodge will be gone within the decade.
Every new model sells much worse than the one they replaced. Each new engine is less reliable than the one it replaced.... I notice a trend.
America will be gone long before then.
Why does the Stellantis CFO remind me of Jim Carey from “The Mask”?
Handlers remind you to check your nose for buugurs and your teeth for left over food debris and your hair, AND your smile… public figures should invest in handlers on occasions
I was thinking Rocky from that other Mask movie with Cher.
The big accounting scam for the manufacturers is what their accounting practices allow for being “sold”, when the cars are shipped to the dealers and the dealer takes possession. Everyone else listening to the CEO is thinking, I don’t know anyone who has bought a new Dodge truck in the last year…….this can’t be right! In the mean time every dealer’s lot is maxed out with inventory. This charade is now in its final act and Winter is coming. This next quarter the blood bath begins.
They’ve been kicking the can for far too long. But wait, there’s more…. Now back with 72 months to kick the can for the new suckers that finance those absurd prices for 6 years. Yikes.
@@Tsuter1978 6 years? I left the auto industry 3 years ago up here in Canada. People begged for 96m financing. It was a chore to try to convince them to lessen the term.
In Canada ram1500 up to 17,000 below MSRP, still not selling very fast.
They have had price increases that have eclipsed 20k just in the past 3 years on those classic trucks. If they discount them by 17000 that still doesn't bring the price down enough. The wrangler price increases have been even worse.
Stellantis made the mistake in thinking their brands can compete (primarily) with the Germans. They thought their brands had the cachet to price their vehicles on par, or even more than German brands. Outside of Michigan, I rarely see any CDJR vehicles; probably because nobody’s willing to pay X5 or GLE money for a Grand Cherokee, or X7 and GLS money for a Grand Wagoneer. I believe even the Dodge Hornet sells for more than a Q3 or X1. I give credit to Ram for introducing a more luxurious truck to the masses, but they appear to have fallen off a cliff as others caught up. It’s as if Stellantis only looked at their numbers within the state of Michigan.
Exactly. Well said. I remember thinking this when they introduced the grand wagoneer for 100k or so. There is no way they are worth that. Have you been to a Chrysler Jeep dealer for service? Definitely not the same experience as zee Germans. Not even close.
Even with the nice discounts, still absurdly overpriced
They're working the curve. Start overpriced so you can sucker the ego driven buyers. End slightly overpriced so you can sucker the reluctant buyers with "discounts."
Penske should buy RAM and Jeep from Stellantis, revamp and manufacture them in the USA.
You know Stellantis has lost the plot when Alfa Romeo is their brand providing the most bang for the buck now. (If your priority is reliability, you're probably already not looking at a Stellantis product).
Stellantis = NOPE
Not to mention, why would I buy from a car company that might be out of buisness in 2 years, or less, and not honor the warranty.
Not to worry, their new Electric Camaro, that nobody asked for, will save them.
The dealers with high inventory plays games with them. I've been pricing a model and they dangle rebates and incentives but then at the last minute they dump on dealer options. I hate games.
I love Wranglers but they are ridiculously overpriced these days.
And look like cobbled-up school buses.
Surprised to see Mazda so high up there
It’s mostly the CX-5 with bloated inventory right now and it’s currently down year over year
Government subsidies for the makers and easy money for long term borrowers with low credit scores is a really bad idea.
Any intel from the Stellantis meeting in Detroit about this?
Our local RAM dealers (Denver metro) won’t move an inch on price, at least in the HD models…I politely bowed out of the market…
The only reason people gave a shit about Stellantis is the hellcat. And they killed it off.
Truth. They needed to spend some R&D to make a next gen version that will meet emissions. But instead they got side tracked with EVs. Some blame for this rests with the government for making mandates, but they really dropped the ball with eliminating the V8.
Theres a lot of kids from this latest generation that cant leave their parents homes and are also afraid of getting their drivers license
Keep shitting on the new generation for the mistakes the previous generation caused.
The expression of the stellantis CEO is hilarious! She knows her job is over.
Outstanding as always young lady 👍👍👍
That CEO is definitely snorting something. Look at that face!
You look great without a hat and you know your stuff. Nice job!
Yeah, prices are WAY too high, dealerships are depressing places with all the fun cars being discontinued, AND very few people are excited about the "electric future". The people who are can't afford Evs because they're so damn expensive!
My 2013 dart has been rock solid, super reliable. 250k miles on the clock and still going on the factory pads/rotors, axles, coolant, etc
All I’ve done is oil changes and trans fluid. Hell my windshield has been broken for 6 years and I ain’t even swapped it
I legitimately reached out to stellantis to ask what supplier was used for the factory brakes so I could buy them for my cars going forward.
I’d buy another car but I drive a lot and fuel economy means a lot to me and all their cars get worse than my dart
My HD Diesel ram has served me well over the years. I can't complain about it. But now I'm in the position of wanting to get into a newer pickup. I have no idea for the life of me what to even buy. They all seem like overpriced trash. Even Toyota has me questioning trucks these days.
As a layman it seems like it would be a fairly straightforward direction for any of the big 3 manufacturers. Stop redesigning every year. Start focusing on quality over quantity. Divert funds from constant R&D on new platforms to achieving lower cost, better quality vehicles. And we as consumers need to stop forking over our hard earned cash every time some new model with a bigger screen comes out. We can vote for what we want with our wallets. Unfortunately it's like herding cats.
To be fair, the constant redesigning and expensive changes you are seeing over the past 6-8 years are the manufacturers trying to meat ridiculous government emission targets. These changes are also the leading cause of quality issues. There is not enough savings in fuel to make it worth while for Toyota or Ford to be focusing on these smaller displacement pick up truck engines. GM putting a 4cyl in a 1500 is beyond stupid.
We should all be telling our elected representatives to back down.
I saw an article that stated that they are more interested in becoming a technology company and also planning to PUSH e-vs in a market that the public is pushing away from in favor of either hybrid or just what WE are accustomed to combustion
Coming from someone who works in the automotive sector I can tell you unequivocally Stellentis is in very deep.
Stellantis vehicles are overpriced at 30% below MSRP.
See, it's not just EV's. 😏
Remember back in 2006-2008 when the Big 3 were in trouble and needed a bailout? Ford was the exception, not taking the bailout, they offered 0% @ 72 months for anyone who breathed for their F150 XLT. I bought 2 the same day. It's time to do this again for all manufacturers to get the car economy kick-started.
Van prices are still reallly High
Don't be surprised if Stellantis just dumps CJDR.
They should sell it while there is still enough there to temp a buyer. Oh, too late for that.
Paying $100k/yr to 100k+ unskilled employees and paying for their healthcare too whilst adhereing to thousands of bs government regulations doesn't create unaffordable cars.
I noticed that the chart at 0:30 points out something a bit interesting. No US automakers are in the top 9 for moving inventory.
i like your watch, is it a casio or just a smart watch?
Once interest rates dip for auto loan, my wife and I are both dumping our stellantis(grand cherokee and wrangler) vehicles and going with another brand like Toyota. It has been nothing but problems with our vehicles.
Prices may be coming down for stellantis products, but they are still crap and have horrible quality track records
I just want a simple, sturdy dependable 4WD truck for around 20K. That is all.
The new Jeeps look like a cobbled-up school bus.
Aubrey, the video narrator, mentions a few points about Jeep:
1. Jeep is one of the brands under the Stellantis umbrella that has been struggling with high inventory levels. As of March, Jeep is in the top 10 highest inventory automakers.
2. Aubrey suggests that Jeep may be experiencing an identity crisis, as some of their more affordable models, such as the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Cherokee, have been discontinued. The only Jeep model currently available is the larger Grand Cherokee.
3. Despite the high prices of Jeep vehicles, there are many incentives at the dealership level, and Jeep vehicles can often be found at a steep discount, even below MSRP. Aubrey provides examples of several Jeep models that are selling for thousands of dollars below MSRP.
Overall, Aubrey's comments suggest that Jeep is facing challenges with high inventory levels and a potential identity crisis, but that there are opportunities for buyers to get good deals on Jeep vehicles.
I've owned Jeeps. My experience is that instead of continuous improvement of the Wrangler, the quality goes down with cheap parts, fllmsy doors, body panels, soft tops, lights, buttons, list goes on and on.... Used to be the biggest Wrangler fan... but its an expensive piece of trash that only sells because of the fantasy in people's heads about the brand. The old CJs had problems, but were authentic compared to modern Wranglers that sell for the price of a small house.
Dont beleive dealerships are in trouble at all. They still have high pricing, not cutting pricing, not negotiating. I continue to walk
Aubrey, can you please explain TuroGo?
New Car I bought in 2019 18,500
New car 2023 same model 32,000. My car was listed on the video Renegade.
Next year it’s paid off and I ain’t buying a new car until the prices get reasonable again.
Hi, how you make star rating for Turo client ?
Stellantis needs to adopt Fiat as the corporate name. Fix It Again Tony.
It's almost like the enormous out of touch automotive conglomerate model has been tried before, it never works 😂
The prices don't match the quality. Corporate pricing has gone out of control. It's not the workers it's the cost cutting engineering.
Why do I get the feeling that they are also just playing around with "MSRP" to change buyer's perspectives as well,
Over priced, poor quality, and high interest rates in a cost of living crisis will not sell vehicles
Stellantis looked at some of their top selling models in the US, the V8 Dodge cars and trucks, and said "we should discontinue the V8 cars and build EVs even though no one in the US wants to buy them". If I were a Dodge dealer, I would shut down now and avoid the prolonged misery of watching my dealership waste away due to no sales. GM is taking similar actions by doing away with the popular models of cars to focus on the EV sham. Ford may have learned its very painful lesson trying to force the F150 Lightning EV pickup onto the market.
These feel good DEI C suite hires at the major US auto makers are going to sink the US auto industry.
Bronco introduction hurt Jeep. Big three have worked their half ton pickup prices up significantly since 2019. Big three half ton unit volume is down 20% since 2019....this has been managed by transaction prices going up almost the same amount. Dodge discounts were higher a month ago, they seem around 10% on new units now. Yes, the "work truck" category has gone from $26,000 some years ago to $35,000 with discounts. The only segment with good markup traction has been half tons and the big three worked it big time.
I have never trusted the quality of Dodge jeep and Chrysler I have never thought about buying a car from them.
Really smart...discontinue the cars that are in demand. I haven't heard that there is a demand for the Hornet. The new "Charger"...it SUCKS.
Quality issues plus higher prices makes sense why
Just slap a $100 discount on the selling price, and everyone will be lining up to buy all of them.
You took your beanie off??????
When people are having a hard time paying their bills and buying food there definitely not looking for a vehicle.
Interesting. But the new Dodge Charger has an ICE option developing up to 550 hp. So not just an EV.
Price, quality, and … price. Oh wait, did I say price?
still don't care, would never consider a stellantis product
They might could sell cars or trucks if they want 80 to 90 thousand for them .
Any way the HORRIBLE RELIABILITY might have something to do with it not to mention the RIDICULOUS PRICES!
If you lease or don`t keep cars after factory warranty. Getting a deal on a Stellantis product isn`t a bad move.
"Below MSRP" after MSRPs have been raised 40-50% (in the last 5 years) is all but meaningless for many/most potential buyers. As a result, it's a "stretch" to call any of these a "good deal". Better than last year, yeah. But what is that exactly saying.
The balloon still needs to deflate a significant amount before I'd use "a good deal".
everyone is struggling to sell at the moment, not just car companies. it's not looking good.
Alarm…dive, dive….alarm
It''s incredibly sad Chrysler has been so utterly forgotten. I would've genuinely been interested in a 300C hybrid, but that won't happen.
Honestly I cannot believe how long they have lasted. Their products are very sharp looking, loud, shiny garbage.
25k for a top trim hornet would make sense. Nothing more.
Chrysler only sells mini vans now, dodge only sells SUVs now, why buy a Maserati when its going to lose a massive chunk of value in a couple years, other than the wrangler jeep just sells regular SUVs now, Rams are cool but the prices make 0 sense, and who in their right mind would ever buy an alfa romeo over a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi?
jeep prices are comical
cut prices and tell banks to cut the rates.
then maybe people will buy a new car/truck.
Well, Peugeot is one of the stellantis brands. And they still make engines with a construction fault. So maybe they get what they diserve
I'm done with Chrysler, for real!
Do most car connoisseurs view Alfa Romeo part of Stellantis or as something on its own?
Anyway, I recently passed on buying an Alfa Romeo Giulia because it does not come in a manual transmission in the USA. As mentioned in the video and a few comments, the appeal of the Stellantis family of cars is that it offers, or used to offer, something special that no one else has; in my view, while the Giulia may be the prettiest car on the road at face value, if it doesn't come in manual transmission it is not fun and exciting, so nothing special.
Now looking for boring but roomy and reliable that lives up those trite expectations.
I thought mass manufacturing was supposed to lead to lower prices? If the vehicles don't improve in any significant metric, why are they more expensive?
It’s the UAW - strike for higher wages. They ultimately lose because many are going to lose their job.
0% doesn't matter as the vehicles are too much$$$
The good news is if you're a savvy buyer, you will have Stellantis dealers by the balls
The bad news is you'll end up with a Stellantis product
The people have spoke
It's all relative
2:53 Because it's a Full size 3 row SUV with a powerful engine, premium leather, Luxury and all the bells and whistles like an Escalade or Navigator?
But those carry some semblance of cachet vs the wagoneer that they just slapped a huge price tag on and said, yeah this is a luxury offering. Nah, not buying it. It is was worth a shot, but people aren’t biting. We all know these aren’t worth what they are asking for them. When be I can buy an Escalade for the same price, that’s what’s going to get bought. It’s not like when Lexus was kicked off and they offered a discounted luxury car vs the german cars, and impeccable quality to boot. This is a jeep that has some nice seats and a decent stereo, but doesn’t bring the build quality to the table to justify the cost in any way.
here in canada, hornet is the worst new car by a mile. Price goes up to $70,000 lol, I wouldn't want one even if it was $20,000
Did she mention that the employees decided to vote to join the union, and the parent company announced plans to layoff 4,000 employees and build the vehicles elsewhere, if at all - that's your JEEP.
I had a Charger and still have a 20 Grand Cherokee. I dont want a newer covid quality mess and certainly not at a higher rate. To make it worse they don't want to give you anything for your trade. Oh well ... Keeping my pre covid ride
I have a2014 Cherokee teailhawk v6. hardest car to work on I have ever owned. I’m trading it in tomorrow.
attention Americans - unless you own a business - you don't need a truck. you might want one, but you don't need one. if you own a business, you can afford one.
Trucks are great, but 100k trucks are not so great. Love my ‘99 Dakota. Perfect smaller truck and great to have as an option to drive.
