    Stellantis made the mistake in thinking their brands can compete (primarily) with the Germans. They thought their brands had the cachet to price their vehicles on par, or even more than German brands. Outside of Michigan, I rarely see any CDJR vehicles; probably because nobody’s willing to pay X5 or GLE money for a Grand Cherokee, or X7 and GLS money for a Grand Wagoneer. I believe even the Dodge Hornet sells for more than a Q3 or X1. I give credit to Ram for introducing a more luxurious truck to the masses, but they appear to have fallen off a cliff as others caught up. It’s as if Stellantis only looked at their numbers within the state of Michigan.

    My HD Diesel ram has served me well over the years. I can't complain about it. But now I'm in the position of wanting to get into a newer pickup. I have no idea for the life of me what to even buy. They all seem like overpriced trash. Even Toyota has me questioning trucks these days.
    As a layman it seems like it would be a fairly straightforward direction for any of the big 3 manufacturers. Stop redesigning every year. Start focusing on quality over quantity. Divert funds from constant R&D on new platforms to achieving lower cost, better quality vehicles. And we as consumers need to stop forking over our hard earned cash every time some new model with a bigger screen comes out. We can vote for what we want with our wallets. Unfortunately it's like herding cats.

    • @truckguy6.7
      @truckguy6.7 Місяць тому +2

      To be fair, the constant redesigning and expensive changes you are seeing over the past 6-8 years are the manufacturers trying to meat ridiculous government emission targets. These changes are also the leading cause of quality issues. There is not enough savings in fuel to make it worth while for Toyota or Ford to be focusing on these smaller displacement pick up truck engines. GM putting a 4cyl in a 1500 is beyond stupid.

    1. Jeep is one of the brands under the Stellantis umbrella that has been struggling with high inventory levels. As of March, Jeep is in the top 10 highest inventory automakers.
    2. Aubrey suggests that Jeep may be experiencing an identity crisis, as some of their more affordable models, such as the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Cherokee, have been discontinued. The only Jeep model currently available is the larger Grand Cherokee.
    3. Despite the high prices of Jeep vehicles, there are many incentives at the dealership level, and Jeep vehicles can often be found at a steep discount, even below MSRP. Aubrey provides examples of several Jeep models that are selling for thousands of dollars below MSRP.
    Overall, Aubrey's comments suggest that Jeep is facing challenges with high inventory levels and a potential identity crisis, but that there are opportunities for buyers to get good deals on Jeep vehicles.

    Stellantis looked at some of their top selling models in the US, the V8 Dodge cars and trucks, and said "we should discontinue the V8 cars and build EVs even though no one in the US wants to buy them". If I were a Dodge dealer, I would shut down now and avoid the prolonged misery of watching my dealership waste away due to no sales. GM is taking similar actions by doing away with the popular models of cars to focus on the EV sham. Ford may have learned its very painful lesson trying to force the F150 Lightning EV pickup onto the market.
    These feel good DEI C suite hires at the major US auto makers are going to sink the US auto industry.

    Bronco introduction hurt Jeep. Big three have worked their half ton pickup prices up significantly since 2019. Big three half ton unit volume is down 20% since 2019....this has been managed by transaction prices going up almost the same amount. Dodge discounts were higher a month ago, they seem around 10% on new units now. Yes, the "work truck" category has gone from $26,000 some years ago to $35,000 with discounts. The only segment with good markup traction has been half tons and the big three worked it big time.

    "Below MSRP" after MSRPs have been raised 40-50% (in the last 5 years) is all but meaningless for many/most potential buyers. As a result, it's a "stretch" to call any of these a "good deal". Better than last year, yeah. But what is that exactly saying.
    The balloon still needs to deflate a significant amount before I'd use "a good deal".

    Chrysler only sells mini vans now, dodge only sells SUVs now, why buy a Maserati when its going to lose a massive chunk of value in a couple years, other than the wrangler jeep just sells regular SUVs now, Rams are cool but the prices make 0 sense, and who in their right mind would ever buy an alfa romeo over a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi?

    Do most car connoisseurs view Alfa Romeo part of Stellantis or as something on its own?
    Anyway, I recently passed on buying an Alfa Romeo Giulia because it does not come in a manual transmission in the USA. As mentioned in the video and a few comments, the appeal of the Stellantis family of cars is that it offers, or used to offer, something special that no one else has; in my view, while the Giulia may be the prettiest car on the road at face value, if it doesn't come in manual transmission it is not fun and exciting, so nothing special.
    Now looking for boring but roomy and reliable that lives up those trite expectations.

      But those carry some semblance of cachet vs the wagoneer that they just slapped a huge price tag on and said, yeah this is a luxury offering. Nah, not buying it. It is was worth a shot, but people aren’t biting. We all know these aren’t worth what they are asking for them. When be I can buy an Escalade for the same price, that’s what’s going to get bought. It’s not like when Lexus was kicked off and they offered a discounted luxury car vs the german cars, and impeccable quality to boot. This is a jeep that has some nice seats and a decent stereo, but doesn’t bring the build quality to the table to justify the cost in any way.
