To get the best out of the VNT now you will need to get the fuel system adjusted along with boost pressure on the Dyno. It will be a totally different animal then. 💨 👍😎
More power, more downstream problems on the way. Hope not but just my experience. Replace with new stock parts for reliability. Love this LR, very well set up for trips.
@@SIDETRACKED thanks for that... I thought u would have been hit with extra tax. Anything over $1000 and u are hit with extra tax which would have made the total cost around $3000 or so landed... Will be interested to hear of the performance results vs cost outlay especially with u running 35” tyres
Nope this was done by me, 1 part I forgot to get any footage of... There is a designated area to drill, probably not pre-drilled due to the varying probes that might be used?
@@SIDETRACKED It drives like a normal car now, my Disco is completely stock except for the intake and it flies up hills and accelerates like a petrol car. You can get the whole kit from the UK for about $600.
jesus....someone...with brain who can explain what he does and show everything in detail! never stop videoting...got an sub. But one question: @2:27 the pipe, in your hands. Can you tell me the name ? I mean between engine and turbo, because I need a new one and can't find them.
@SIDETRACKED.AUSTRALIA how difficult was it to remove the oil return fitting in the engine block? @3:46 mark. Mine seems on there pretty good but just hit it with PB blaster to see if that helps. Worried about shaving the socket edges
@SIDETRACKED thanks, ended up getting it out by covering the hole and spraying a little bit of pblaster, then cleaned it up with a wire brush to get a nice snug contact.
Me thinks that because you have no qualms about throwing money towards this British Jeep, that perhaps contact dieselpumpUK and get the OM606 engine and kit and be the first in OZ to punt a 300HP Defender around the country. I'd like to see that done.

Yep, definitely need a tune to get the most out of a new turbo.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this one!
Update on performance over time would be great.
Sceptical on the double washer on that banjo fitting
I would have used a couple of copper crush washers, and probably annealed them for good measure
Yep, would have just ran a normal Banjo washer top n bottom. No rubber seal on those washers.

Hey! Now you have had it in how is it performing. Interested to see the boost pin video and results as well
Nice one
Looks like it should make the defender some more power 👍
Has it made any improvement? Like power and pulling power. Is there more turbo noise as well?
Ahh so you did upgrade! Very good and now are you going to re-map? Best of luck with it.
Yes, will get it tuned for sure.
Brah i think your in the modern age. No remap here
Sounds like the early cummins....coffee grinder✌
what did you use for the boost hose line ?
also where did you get the turbo kit from
Great video… curious as to know what the cost was (including shipping) landed in Australia?
Yeah ditto, according to their website you're copping at least $2.5k before shipping 😵
About $2540 landed. May have been some tax on top once arriving, can't remember now.

Please update us on the performance.
Sound deadener under the bonnet?👍🏻🙏🦘
How is the experience with MD Engineering parts?
Quality, can't fault them.
Was the manifold drilled to accept EGT probe when you received it?

A year later, how do you like the VNT? Worth the cost?
Why didnt you upgrade to a dual port intake? I have it on my 300tdi disco and it breathes so much better! Only cost me $600
I didn't know they were that much better. Thanks, I'll do more research.

Exhaust manifold.

Mine came out ok, some heat around the area may help if your struggling.

Get yourself dual intake
I did a dual intake and it performs better with lower EGT's
Is the turbo worth the money or not?
If you need a new turbo, yes.
@@SIDETRACKED is it better than the allisport? turbo
@@amcf2000c I've never used an Allisport turbo, but that was another option.
Nice
Put a maxi in it and forget about it.
