@@spiderdude2099 Well... I'm poor, have no money and still 3 regions to get to Lvl 5 haha BUT i beat the game, took me over 2 hours for the last chapter but the ending was nice :)
Some super tips: Spirit gems don't spawn except after story missions or gaining a new companion/emblem. The orchard almost never spawns anything except oranges/grapes/nuts/peaches so you can safely ignore it except in the above instance. You don't have to cook the sparkling dishes to get support points, but there's a bigger chance of failure. That being said, even sparkly meals can fail (I got rank G once). Resting in the room spawns bond fragments in the grotto/other places, so be sure to do that first when returning to the somniel. Ideal route: Bed, Arena + Ring Chamber, Cafe, Achievements, Fragments/Grotto/Farm, Inventory management (sell loot/leftovers), watch Supports, then depart for your next battle. Only takes a few minutes. Bed encounters reset once after each battle, so you get a new one each visit to the Somniel. Also, resting in it resets who appears to talk to in the Somniel if you're looking for someone. Training is pointless. Way too much effort for the benefits. Would have been better if it gave mats/bond/permanent stats. Fishing is good early game to get Lineage on everyone or whatever, but both that and the wyvern game are, again, mostly pointless. You get more advanced rods from the flea market later in the game. Later rods also increase the number of times you can fish (up to 10) though the bond rewards don't change much. I think max you can earn is 1000 bond fragments if really lucky. Falmingos, Donkeys, and Marmuts gather the rare food items. I actually never found a flamingo as it spawns in one location in Solm, so be sure to grab it. You can see what animals spawn on the in the overworld. Sommie's friendship ranking doesn't matter much outside assisting you, and drops a little if you forget to feed/pet him. Also, the pet option doesn't automatically end, so just mash B after the first pet starts (which does automatically each time). Sommie also takes a nap if you stand still for a minute (very important to remember).
In the Arena, you will gain SP if you are wearing a Bond Ring, but not an Emblem Ring, because the Emblem Ring is disabled while in the Arena. It's an annoyance, but something to keep in mind.
@@rayallen73 There are lots of menu and UI things in this game that irk me. Information I wish I could see more easily in some menus, etc. It's the one part of the game, mechanically anyway, that I feel like they could have drastically improved. The way they keep you informed of SP stuff is one of them. It feels like a system tacked on at the last minute.
Something to keep in mind when doing activities. You can push X and fast travel to anywhere in the Somniel instantly. You don’t need to be physically go back and forth to locations. This also cuts down on the amount of loading screens you’ll see. Also it may be a little cheesy, but when I use the arena, I like to have units fight who are just about to level up. After they fight, if you got a bad stat roll, you can reset the game from the system menu and get a second chance at good stats during another battle. You can view supports and bond conversations in the Reference menu. You don’t have to physically find each party member to continue support conversations with Alear. You can scout out which Bond Rings you’ll get if you save in front of the alter in the ring chamber. Buy a set of 10, if you see an S Rank ring you can reset the game and buy single rings until you get the ring you want, saving you some Bond Points. FE UA-camr Choops has a much more detailed video about how to use this method to get bond rings. I’d recommend checking it out for more information.
Pro tip: the fishing mini-game is a good source of bond fragments, especially later on when you have the bigger rods and are able to catch larger fish. You can get 500 bond fragments for a giant fish and you get more times to fish than just the starter 3.
My route is typically; 1: Supports and Bonds from the Prior Battle 2. Pick up Ore from the Farm 3. Forge/Purchase as needed 4: Food 5: Arena 6: Ring Chamber 7: Any extra supports you got from the Arena/Food It's usually around 10-15 minutes per visit.
A really nice in-depth guide. Much appreciated. There are a ton of videos on what to skip or how to go through fast but I really appreciate going into detail on every different spot. Helps me decide what to do myself instead of just doing what someone else tells me. (And yes I know I'm guilty of that too but such is the desire to make cheap quick content lol, meanwhile you and your crew pumping out high quality gems)
>Goes to cafe >Chef is an expert in the dish >All extra ingredients selected >????? >F rank dish, debuffed for fight. Instructions unclear, happened 6 times in a row.
This video is a godsend. I hate the training with a burning passion (and collecting random junk). You don't even need to gift your allies in this game because of the little bond exercises. Tbh, I prefer it that way. Memorizing everyone's likes/dislikes was a total pain.
I particularly enjoy cooking meals, especially when Alfred served up his "white sausage" dish with Fogado + Pandreo on a dinner date, while also giving all males +1 defense after serving up his said "white sausage." :)
Glad that I knew most of this, but am grateful for the new info as well. Also, it's kinda funny and horrifying that the eagle gives you mutton and chicken, since you can also adopt sheep and chickens... Additionally, I always run around the Somniel scrounging for items like the hoarder I am, especially since I always find myself low on gold. Finally, could you make a video about which Emblems are the best to engrave on which weapons and why? I feel most Emblems just make the weapons they engrave on worse. The only good ones seem to be Beginnings, Rivals, Academy, and possibly Awakening.
I tend to just do everything even if it takes longer. I know it's minimal, but I always feel like I'm missing out if I skip an activity. Glad to know what the point of the fortune telling is now too.
12:07 - I have multiple Fire Emblem amiibo. The very first time I scanned them all, I got the tickets from each amiibo. Now when I scan them, I only get a relay ticket from the first one scanned of the day; the remaining 4 FE amiibo give me random junk like tonics or gifts or food.
What is Somniel? The mystical abode of the Divine Dragon - X A place where people from all nations, royals and commoners, freely mingle - X Basically a glorified kennel for 5 dogs - O
It's worth noting that you can save-scum to get guaranteed supports in the arena. I've tested this and whoever appears to fight is set, so if you save just beforehand, once you enter the fight and see who it is, you can reload and send someone who supports that person. Then repeat that process for the next two fights. Save, see who it is, pick who you want to support them as your fighter. And the arena gives a HUGE amount of support points. It takes anyone besides Alear straight from nothing to C to B, so if you're lucky (no random fight with an Emblem or Alear) you can ALWAYS get 3 support conversations out of the arena, unless you're going for an A convo which takes more points.
1. Support and bond conversations 2. Make meal 3. Collect achievements 4. Arena 5. Ring Chamber 6. Dogs 7. Feed/Pet sommie 8. Give any gifts to characters that I don't frequently use in battle 9. Shops/Forge Sometimes push-ups if I feel a particularly strong battle is next.
I've mostly been getting the ingots from the dogs at the farm, getting the bond fragments from Sommie, getting bond fragments from the achievement board, and using the arena. I pretty much ignore cooking and the mini-games and the gifts and talking to people. I do forge a lot early on - less later - only to forge a lot again at the end. I don't buy a lot of things from the armory - I just use what the game gives me because money is tight - I will probably buy some seals and two killing edges and staves. After chapter 17, I do spend a lot time going back and forth from the arena and the ring chamber to load out my skills - I wish that was less painful. I've been ignoring everything else.
Btw, you can play wyvern ride with motion controls and in my opinion is so much better with it and i can't believe i realized until like chapter 19. For this you have to go to the menu where you select the difficulty and press + to show the controls THEN you press X to change to motion controls
Totally appreciated this guide! I knew a good bit but also verified/learned a good bit. My routine: cafe, amiibos once a day, wyvern ride, strength training, dogs, Sommie shrine, fishing, then go in-depth with arena training and potentially rings. May shorten that for later runs though
I tend to do everything in the Somniel honestly. Just remember if you're cooking to maybe keep a save handy. Call it cheesy if you want but when you can spend full resources on a dish the chef is an "expert" at and both of your dining partners like and it gets botched so bad you lose a point in *every stat* , the game sure as hell isn't afraid to cheese you
A pretty good routine, but as others have said it's so easy to get the bond points from Sommie quickly, and you get a significant income boost. If I find I'm no longer leveling more bonds I might stop but it's nice.
I do every activity. I start at the café, and if one of the strength training buffs was not in my meal, I go there next. Then I go fishing, etc.. I always like to do Sommie petting and feeding last so I have all the bond fragments I need. Then I emblem train, inherent skills, and finally, arena training. Oh, and inventory stuff.
My routine is normally: Food Dogs Forge Arena Ring Chamber Dote upon a few favorite characters if available Check reference for support/bond convos Head back on out
ALWAYS COOK MEAL buffs are nice but you can sell the meal for 50 gold I usually go do fishing for fragments, meals spamming bond rings but leave 1000 fragments in case I want to upgrade support in arena go to arena dump all extra stuff into the well before going back to the wyvern if I'm in the mood training, dogs than run to grotto for fragments and if I feel like it I'll go to the tower of trails to spend some of my 20+ tickets
My somniel routine 1. Go to sleep until there is a decent chef at he cafe (if you look at the map and highlight the cafe you will see that the chef is the first unit listed) 2. Get a meal 3. Do push ups if the meal did not give me strength already 4. Dogland 5. Wyvern ride because free items and it's fun 6. sommie 7. Arena and emblem stuff 8. Sleep till to morning to try to fish the rare fish that gives 1000 bond fragments
I remember in Fates my activities were the lotto, the ore pool, the food collection, arena, and staff shop and armory. About the same activities (with lotto in place of Ring chamber), but a lot less time.
Still on the first playthrough and I'm tending towards doing everything (need two more dogs still, though I test out new animals for curiosity). One useful tidbit I saw on reddit recently was that if you press R after inheriting a skill it pulls up the option to equip it. I haven't tested that yet and not near my Switch, but that sounds time saving to me.
That's the ZR button on the controller, and it just changes the menu for you. Works in a few different menus. You should also get in the habit of tapping X to see more details on stats or skills, pull up somniel map for fast travel, etc.
My routine is: Visit the DOGS Eat Check the Smith Visit sommie to get a free 200 bond Visit achievement bord for more bond Arena Visit the ring shine and become disappointed that I still don't have enough sp for anything If I'm playing maddening I'll also collect fruits and do push ups to keep my kitchen stock and ensure I'm squeezing every last ounce of usefulness out of alear I can. My favorite tradition is the dogs as having a boat load of dogs giving me that 1 silver I desperately needed for my forged is always a treat and it's quick
My routine on the Somniel is: 1. Orchad to get fruit and to make couples pair up. 2. Sommie's Grotto to get 200 poo framgents (Y'know he poops those, right?) 3. Visit the doggos and finish getting whatever is on the ground. 4. Arena to get some exp if possible.
I usually go around talking to everyone to give gifts for supports/learn a little about them, cook a meal, do emblem training, then the arena fights for exp. and finally wyvern riding/strength training and fishing. I feel really bad with the ring chamber and its setup to allot skills because I have been scared to waste bond fragments/SP for stuff. For this reason I save shopping/forging weapons for last too because on Maddening mode you can really run out of gold in short order. As a result, I may not have trained/used Louis, Clanne, Alfred and Vander right and had them die on the chapter 5 & 10. Oh, and I guess I die pet Sommie. I managed to max him out at chapter 13 for fragments and activity assists.
For the fishing pong, on hard later on I was getting more bait (up to 10 in the last few chapters). I am not sure if it just happens the later you get or for buying the other rods.
okay I’m literally on chapter 21 and have hardly used the somniel (I’m just now finding where the armory is) and I’m on maddening run one. I can say as of right now a somnieless run is possible
One thing I noticed with the arena is the opponent's always the same if you quit reload so if you want to use it for support grinding it's a way to fo it
There's a few design changes I wish they would have made: 1. At the forge, I believe you can only engrave an emblem seal on one weapon only (so Byleth's can't be applied to two separate weapons.) It gets difficult to keep track of whether or not you used one, already. Especially because you're forced to memorize the emblem symbol and sift through your inventory to see if it exists anywhere. They don't even tell you the name, just the symbol itself, lol 2. Why did they have to separate the arena where you increase emblem bond vs inherit skills? This genuinely discouraged me from wanting to bother with inheriting skills at all due to all the bouncing back-and-forth and having to deal with all the loading screens inbetween. Maybe it's on me for not being more organized, but these two concepts seem so closely intertwined that I just do no understand why they are separated by 3 loading screens minimum: 1 to get into the arena, 1 to get out of the arena, & 1 to get into the ring chamber. Way too much waiting for something that otherwise is genuinely exciting and interesting to be doing.
@@nicoleolinger7633 plus 1 to get into the arena to begin with. And again for me, I always preferred to work with a character at a time with getting the right bond levels in place then acquiring the right skills. So it just got to be too much of a hassle to keep bouncing back and forth. And I might be misremembering this, but I feel like looking up the abilities in the arena was less ideal, that it was easier to look at what was worth inheriting in the ring room. Then go to the arena to get the right levels. Then back to the ring room to inherit. Again, should have all been combined in one station.
Do you only get 1 fashion ticket per first amiibo scan? Because I have scanned every day and only got 1 ticket from the first time I scanned each of them
Any tips for the fishing mini game? Sometimes when I hook a large or giant fish, I hold the stick in the EXACT position the game is telling me and not tapping A until the fish is confused, but the fish still is too strong and gets away. Feels broken.
I was thinking "oh. I dont need the food buff, its not a story mission" and then took on two instances back to back, entirely forgetting that I've missed out on petting Somnie and arena attempts.... needless to say, Somnie didn't talk to me for a few days afterwards (I'm sorry bro)
As a player that likes to play on Normal difficulty to experience the story and have fun with characters first before I work my way up to Maddening with different playthroughs, is my only option now that I''ve beat the game on Normal to start a new game entirely now that I am ready to play on Hard? I have the game clear mark on my Normal save as m!Alear, and was hoping to play my second playthrough on Hard as f!Alear, but it feels wrong that I have to start a new file altogether and wont maintain my game clear mark, or profile card, or any potential online stuff that I earned on my first playthrough, so I'm hoping someone can let me know if I'm missing something, or am i correct in thinking all that is left to do on my first save now is to farm supports and do somniel stuff?
Most of the activities in the Somniel are not so fun to play and doesn't reward much, but they can add up so it's neccesary if you want to play optimally. Wish Intelligent System provide a more simple approach in their next game.
It's odd though, i'm playing three houses now and while it's more time consuming it feels less like minigames and more like actual gameplay. Engage it's all really stripped down, which is fine, as Engage's focus is on the combat.
I literally beat the game before realizing you can claim fragments for achievements. I thought they were automatic so I never checked the menu. Went to my completed file, went to achievements and had 51,430 bond fragments.
Sit Ups are too hard, my hand horribly aching by the end of it. I don't understand how to properly fish, but I've brute forced 98% of fish that bite. I was doing everything, but stopped some. I go around and pick up everything because it doesn't take much time at all, and unattended shinies annoy me, Sommie, then fish and do arena and ring chamber stuff. Lastly, Eat a meal, supports, and achievement board before heading to the next fight.
As much as the stuff in the Somniel is nice on paper. I kinda felt unwilling to care about most of them. Mostly bc things like stat boosts are temporary and also don’t add much gameplay wise or have charm to it. As much as the monastery was very annoying with how grindy it gets it did at least have charm with what the characters say. Even the fishing tournament gave me a reason to go fishing for a bit. And it was far less grindy for SUPPORTS specifically. Support grinding is such a pain in Engage. Again just my personal opinion
Tempest Trials are ridiculous. Do three whole maps for a chance to randomly get between 1 and 10 crystals (at a fairly reasonable level anyway), when the base cost of refining only the lowest level engage weapon is 10??? Who thought anyone would actually do this? Who actually has done it? Why would it be worth the time?
I really hate this Somniel. I prefer Garreg Mach Monastery much more than this. At least I do not feel it's a chore to do the stuffs in the Monastery but the same could not be said for the Somniel

5. Wyvern ride because free items and it's fun
6. sommie
7. Arena and emblem stuff
8. Sleep till to morning to try to fish the rare fish that gives 1000 bond fragments
5 Dog setup really is a lifesaver. I guess FE confirmed Dogs > Cats.
Really enjoying the Engage videos!
I remember in Fates my activities were the lotto, the ore pool, the food collection, arena, and staff shop and armory. About the same activities (with lotto in place of Ring chamber), but a lot less time.
Just commenting to say get as many dogs as soon as possible. You will get so much silver its not even funny.
Nevermind, you covered it.
@@majnuker Thanks!
My routine is:
Visit the DOGS
Eat
Check the Smith
Visit sommie to get a free 200 bond
Visit achievement bord for more bond
Arena
Visit the ring shine and become disappointed that I still don't have enough sp for anything
If I'm playing maddening I'll also collect fruits and do push ups to keep my kitchen stock and ensure I'm squeezing every last ounce of usefulness out of alear I can.
My favorite tradition is the dogs as having a boat load of dogs giving me that 1 silver I desperately needed for my forged is always a treat and it's quick
Oh yes the elusive sp😩😩
I actually really like the mini-games. It's a fun pace change every now and then.
Reminds me of those mini games you’d play in Pokémon Amie back in X/Y/OR/AS
I like them do to feeling more optional, unlike 3 houses where you doing it for professor points
There’s major character spoilers in this btw! Just thought I’d mention it since it isn’t in the video
Definitely gonna continue using tonics. Lately been proccing anna's money skill so I can always afford restocking the hp, spd, and str tonics
Amiibo notes: you can only get 11 of the outfits/songs. Also, you can only get one bonus relay ticket per day from them
One interesting thing about the sleeping, the dialogue changes, if you skip early in the first part.
My routine on the Somniel is:
1. Orchad to get fruit and to make couples pair up.
2. Sommie's Grotto to get 200 poo framgents (Y'know he poops those, right?)
My go to activity is dogs and pet/feed Sommie, I feel somewhat repentful about letting my Nintendogs unfed for 15+ years…
Tip: Doing a Outrealm Trial (win or lose) resets the arena & cafe so if you want you can grind supports & exp without leaving the Somniel
Didn't know this! I never touched the trials in my playthrough but this is a neat tip.
My current routine: do all the things, pick up every glowing dot! Sigh...why am I like this?
okay I’m literally on chapter 21 and have hardly used the somniel (I’m just now finding where the armory is) and I’m on maddening run one. I can say as of right now a somnieless run is possible
One thing I noticed with the arena is the opponent's always the same if you quit reload so if you want to use it for support grinding it's a way to fo it
Farm yard for ore and areana. Then ring chamber/plaza if I have to do anything
Most of things knew already, but anyway thanks for your work.
more please
btw love your videos btw do you plane to make more support videos again?
Dog and Arena for me, don't have all day. I'm a busy guy.
4:37 wait that's fucking awesome
There's a few design changes I wish they would have made:
1. They don't even tell you the name, just the symbol itself, lol
Just use X and go from the arena to the ring chamber. Only 1 loading screen
Curious, are any of the s rank weapons worth the donations? The lance and axe sound good but donations are a ton of gold.
I haven’t used cooking because I thought you *had* to use all the ingredients. The only ingredients I had were what I could find in the Somniel
My Somniel routine:
- Put the newest recruit in a maid outfit ASAP
- Leave to go recruit more people
I was thinking "oh. I dont need the food buff, its not a story mission" and then took on two instances back to back, entirely forgetting that I've missed out on petting Somnie and arena attempts.... needless to say, Somnie didn't talk to me for a few days afterwards (I'm sorry bro)
side note: never let Pandreo cook I've never seen him be successful lol
What i do is
1 make the somnie glitch
2 loot the dogs
3 meal
4 arena
What are the relay trials’ rewards?
I do all the things
Why does nobody seem to know that the Wyvern Riding is a Panzer Dragoon reference/ inspired game
Most of the activities in the Somniel are not so fun to play and doesn't reward much, but they can add up so it's neccesary if you want to play optimally. Wish Intelligent System provide a more simple approach in their next game.
Only thing I don’t do is Strength Training :)
So if I eat I don't have to exercise? Uh neat I always did both
can you make builds for characters?
My routine is do one thing and already feel fed up with it. Garreg Mach this place most certainly is not.
I was today years old when I found you could claim rewards for acheivments... I may have gotten almost 60k bond fragments >.>
Hi, meal are permanent buff? Our temporary?
Gosh, I sure do love filler chores in my FEs. At least it's not as bad as the monastery.
Is there a way to check your SP while in the Somniel but without going to the Ring Chamber?
Check your units inventory. SP is listed below Bld.
Oh god, I didn't know I coiuld get bond points from achievements. Alrighty then.
Bro, when you miss one thing in the guides and never learn achievements are claimable, went from 1000 to 16000 bond frags 😭
WAIT THE ACHIEVEMENTS HAVE REWARDS??
Gave up on the wyvern immediately, way too long to do. Fishing I should've dropped earlier, the highest tier fishing was pretty much impossible.
resting in your room shold have a chanse of spawning skermishes the IRL respan time is so stupid if you want to grind
5:39
It probably increases logarithmically, or linearly at worst. Calling it exponential is unreasonably pessimistic.
Nerd
Push ups. I hate them but I must have that +2 strength. Wtf were they thinking.
Wait wait hold on, so push up bonus' dont stack with cafe... the amount of wasted time from me not checking.
My routine:
My potions.
Next battle.
How the frick do I get gold!?? I donated all of my money by accident and can’t even get master seals 😭 😂
bro there are soooo many spoilers in this video, at least give a warning ffs...
The main char looks ridiculous.
it grows on you
I hate Somniel so much
This game piss me off with the difficulty
Not helpful
I wish I knew that only one weapon can get an engraving earlier🥲
