It’s true my 7 year old sister she rlly rlly recently died from a rare terminal Disease she had called pulmonary hypertension. With her disease slot of the times they don’t look sick and so people never took us seriously when we said her life is on the line or she’s dying or she won’t live to be an adult if we don’t find a cure for this a lot of people questioned it thought it was a made up disease. Well now that’s she’s gone it’s like a switch flipped for those people and now they actually understand how serious it is. It’s a shame it took her dying for a lot of people in my life to understand
This song was released two days after I was told I had about 10 years to live at only 18. My mom and I were driving home when it came on, she had to pull over and we both cried for I don’t know how long. I ball my eyes out every time I hear it. I’m about to turn 25 in July, and I pray everyday I will see 30. ♥️
When I was 14 my best friend who was 16 passed away, she was a teen mom of a 6 month old baby girl, & there was a memorial video made of her and this is the song they used. I have a very love/hate relationship with this song.
Casey Leeanne first off I'm sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you mean though and I can relate. I lost my best friend to suicide at a young age and she left behind a little girl. This song was played at her funeral, Love this song, but hate it at the same time.
Fun fact: This video echoes a scene in “Anne of Green Gables”, by L.M. Montgomery, where Anne attempts to appear as the Lady of the poem. Perry is holding a book containing poems by Alfred Tennyson, including “The Lady of Shalott”, which the book is opened to at the end of the music video. This is the same lady Anne, from Montgomery’s novel, attempts to portray.
Perrie Dee It’s used in lots of tributes for people who pass at a “young” age. People I know who where 16 that died in a crash last October 25th got tributes with this song. They all make me cry this song hits really hits hard when it’s put with a tribute video
This song was played at my 21 year old cousin’s funeral. She never even knew what it was to go to college, live in her first apartment, wear a wedding veil or hold her baby for the first time. It’s been five years and I still miss her like it was yesterday.
When this song first came out I refused to listen. I thought it was too morbid. That year, my 18 year old cousin was killed by a drunk driver. It was the first song played at his funeral and I completely broke down.
My sister recently past this month, and I wanted to hear this song. It’s dark but sadly true, “funny when you’re dead how people start listening”. I miss you sis 🦋
For me, this song isn't dark. I view it more as hopeful. Dying young is, unfortunately, a reality for many people and I think that this song is hopeful for the people still living who loved that person. "I lived just enough time." They're saying that while they didn't want to go they lived a good life while they were alive. At least that is my take on it.

I watched an interview with them about this specific song and they said it was because they felt that they had accomplished so much in their lives already, that if they died they would be ok with that. Something along those lines anyways, been a few years.
I can relate to this song from fighting cancer on and off for 14 years. They found it when I was pregnant with Shelby. They begged me to abort her and start treatment right away but I refused extremely. Its been a long hard road but I will keep right for that little girl I chose to give life to over my own. I would not change my decision for anything. She and her sister are the best things I have ever made from scratch!
This song hits hard for me u have no idea how much time u have with someone until there gone. This song was on glee Naya Rivera(Santana) sang it in the episode for Cory Monteith(Finn). I love this band of siblings. I hope ur staying safe Billy and blessed.
When ever I hear this song I imagine my husband's cousin singing it. She left this world after a battle with depression and a lethal combination of prescription drugs. She is missed everyday. My daughter has her middle name in her honor
One of the characters on Glee sung this song as a tribute for an actor who passed away named Corey Monteith. He died several years ago at the age of 28. It was for a 5th season episode called Quarterback.
this song makes me cry so much....it brings back so many memories for me my little 9 year old daughter was killed 8 years ago and it makes me cry everytime i think of her......she was my little girl and i will always love her....R.I.P Daddys Little Girl...Xoxoxo
I know like many people this song has a real special meaning to me and my wife. Enjoyed hearing it again even though it brings back bad memories. You just don't know how much things like this helps and matter.
@BillyYouSoCrazy I really don’t think that this song is meant to be dark at all &, contrary to that, it actually conveys a beautiful message overall. I believe that it’s meant to show just how fragile life is & how important it is for all of us to live in the present, moment by moment, b/c we never know when our time is up. Live every day like it’s your last, reach out to the people you love NOW to let them know just how much they mean to you, & make the best out of every second you’re given! The one certainty in life is death & it’s not to be feared, especially if you have faith in a higher power like God. In the uncertain times that we’re living through right now due to the global Corona pandemic, the message in this song is highly relevant & so important for people to hear. Simply put, embrace the power of now & be grateful for the simple things that make life worth living! Much love & positivity to you, Billy, & all of the “So Crazy” fam!!!❤️🙏☮️
When this song first came out. 2 out of 3 kids in my home town died in a grain bin accident and this was constantly requested on the radio. Every time I hear the song I think of them. (Fun fact Billy. The Band Perry are siblings)
My good friend since we where little and my daughters best friend since they where born died from meningitis at 10 years old. This was her favorite song so her mom played this at her funeral. It still hurts to listen to this song her momma donated her organs her heart went to a boy in Texas. RIP Katie Bug we miss you so much!!! Forever 10 😥🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞🐞
I remember when an old friend of mind I went to school Passed away they made a video for him and used this song...brings back a lot of memories for sure
This song was huge when it first came out and it was featured on the farewell to Cory Monteith episode of Glee. I remember reading an article that broke down the lyrics to something along the lines of "make the most of the time you have so when you do go, you have a huge list of accomplishments no matter how long (or short) you're given," but it never came off that way to me. Thinking about it now, I guess I can kinda see it in the "I've never known the lovin' of a man, but it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand," line - it gives a vague and understated "look at the bright side, no regrets" vibe if you want it to... I just feel like it's a more of a suicide anthem though. 🤷♀️
I havent listened to this song in years and man does it hit hard now. A friend of mine died in a horrible accident that was sadly her fault last January but no one should die young. She had so much ahead of her.
This song was first introduced to me by a friend who was playing it at bars with his sister. It's got a dark premise, sure. But it context is acceptance, she isn't mournful in the song. This is one of those songs that means more to me now that I'm older, now that I have lost significant others before their mother even had a hint of grey in her hair
I was absolutely in love with this song when it came out but my best friend wasn't... At all. Lol but our guy friends liked it too so we kept it playing it it came on and she always tried to change the station. She was killed in an accident 01/23/2014, 24 years old.
Santana from Glee sang it on the episode called Quarterback for the character of Finn. He was played by Cory Monteith who died in his 20's of an overdose
Some of the best songs ever written are dark. Songs like this one tap into the feelings we don't like to bring up. They remind you of feelings you try to bury, because they hurt to much to think of. Good review. Keep up the good work. Stay safe and soldier on.
I lost a son when he was 4 months old. I lost my daughter when she was 23, and she left us with her 11 month old son. He reminds me of her every day!! I haven't told him stories of his mom, but I will. When I hear this song, it makes me think of her.
Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother...She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors. Nothing dark about it, my son died when i was 42 and he was 25...those words couldn't be more true.
This song was also based on the poem The Lady of Shalott by Lord Alfred Tennyson. Remember the open book at the end of the video it had the poem The Lady of Shalott on the front page.
The video concept is based on the poem "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. I thought it looks like it and then I saw her drop the book with "Tennyson" written on it, and that clinched it.
I remember listening to this song when I was in 6th or 7th grade and very suicidal. Its odd being older and wiser and remembering how dark life used to be. And how I'm now on the best journey of my life.
I love the Band Perry's music because it was so different than everything else on the radio. Nothing about bars or whiskey, or girls with long tanned legs in cut off jeans. No pick up trucks or dirt roads. Yeah, some of their stuff is kinda dark. But Kimberly, who wrote a lot of their songs, admitted she's into Victorian goth, or something like that. One of theirs that isn't dark is called Postcards From Paris. It's a good one.
I think "Hip to My Heart" was their first single, or it's the first one I remember hearing anyway. It's more upbeat and not dark at all. Also, The Band Perry sometimes makes me think of The Wilkinsons. Just because they're also a sibling act (with their father, too). I think The Wilkinsons' song "26 Cents" would make for a good reaction video.
Unfortunately people don’t know how much they miss you till the day you’re gone. When you’re gone people cry and beg for you to come back but when you’re here they don’t even show they care about you

I noticed that the first time I saw this video.

It honestly amazes me how many songs you haven’t listened to like all the way through bc this is like 2000s I grew up with this one lol
