Getting to Know Planar 2 - Part 3

In the third and final video of our Planar 2 overview, we explore the three CV input modes: Cartesian, Polar, and Scan. Each mode provides a different means of interacting with the movement of the joystick so we'll take a look at how they can be put to use in the creation of new and exciting patches!
With its smoothly responsive precision joystick, Planar 2 facilitates hands-on vector control of two entirely independent sets of outputs (quadrants A-D, and axis X/Y), plus the ability to capture and playback your gestures. Recording your joystick movements enables the creation of organic and complex envelopes, wild and wobbly LFOs, or extended sonic evolutions. It mixes, morphs, routes and pans audio inputs; triggers gates; outputs control voltages and is itself, CV-controllable. Planar2 puts the ‘joy’ back in ‘joystick,’ and the ‘fun’ back in ‘function generator.’ Its multitasking and tactile interface makes it a flexible and unique control device, no matter what your musical genre.

so if you put the planar in polar mode, then patch x out (bipolar) to cv1 and y out to cv2, how does it behave?

This synth isn't available as a preconfigured system, but you could buy the case and all of the modules from www.intellijel.com for about $5k. If you e-mail [e-mail] I'm sure they would be happy to give you a list of the modules used or help you configure your own system.
Oh, and Quadra has now been discontinued and replaced by Quadrax!

It would be cool if in Polar mode the attenuverters acted as offsets, letting you create the cool spin cycle effects without external cv’s. Maybe with pot 2 controlling radius level and pot 1 controlling cycle speed? That would be handy!
