Such a beautiful gentle afternoon. You're video was so beautiful to watch as you honour and appreciate the hands of your mother in law. What a gentle woman she is.
The traditions of rural China fascinates me. I do have some Chinese friends but all of them are from big cities. Your mother in law's knife skills are excellent.
Actually I am planning to do something similar, a cookbook with traditional Qinghai food, and the first part would be just family (or village history). But I think it would take some time. Right now I'm trying to gather interviews about food and cooking (and of the people). But it's a long process, I'm hoping to have the first draft ready (for the first part) by the end of the year. So if I get to be really efficient, maybe next year? Or the year after haha.
Be nice to daughter-in-law , it is the best manner to a chinese family. Unfortunately, it is quite rare in real life. You are quite lucky to have your mother-in-law.
Watching your mother-in-law's hands when she prepares food is a thing of sheer beauty. I think I could be vegetarian if I ate her cooking. It looks so delicious! I hope you will create a cookbook with her - maybe with videos of the process along text!
亁菠菜!第一次看到!婆婆的手藝堪比大厨,媳婦年轻勤學,後生可畏!Never know that spinach can be dried. Your mom-in-law is a super Mom. You're young and intelligent, you'll surpass her soon. Hard work always pays off. 💖💖💖
i love this kid of baozies where the pastry's very thin and the filling is everything! Looks delicious and what a vegan dish! Thanks so much for sharing!
I can fold dumplings, but I’ve never tried baozi! I think you did an excellent job! It’s amazing how much filling your mother-in-law can stuff inside each one.
Hey Mirium they both look fine. Gosh I can almost reach across the screen and grab one 😋 they look so delicious. Great job filming also. Lots of love to all of you !!!
Miriam yr parents n in law r very kind person. Do send my warmest regards to all of them. Wishing everyone good health n Happy. Cheers. Greeting from Malaysia
Miriam, you look very fresh and gorgeous in this clip! Such self sufficient and resourceful family, so nice, and the lively music makes me feel happy watching it. Thanks 😊
in the US, if you live near a chinese community, most everyone has the opportunity to have bao. but more likely or than not, people are introduced to it via a chinese friend HAHA
In London, some more upmarket eateries have popped up in recent years selling mostly baozi. Some sell the totally enclosed bao, some sell the gua bao/kou rou (扣肉包). Search "bao places in London" and you will find quite a few.
Gosh!! I just love love love watching your mother in law cooks and prepares the ingredients. And wish there was a baozi stall in where I live, Malaysia 🇲🇾. They simply look delicious 😋 What’s the dipping sauce that I always see y’all eat with? Is it spicy and does Sansan take spicy food as well?
I have made baozi before. The hardest part is wrapping them beautifully with the multiple pleats. But any homemade food, made with love is delicious all the same!
The steamed baos looked delicious, so fluffy and full of the delicious fillings! Here in California baked pork baos are very popular as are the curry ground beef or chicken baos. Makes me hungry for baos now! 😋
Miriam. You are so pretty and smart. I love that you learned your husbands language and are open to the culture. I am Canto barely and live in San Francisco. Stay safe in China. Your bao's are beautiful too
I love eating Bao/Pao.Love the ones with red bean or black Bean or you can have veggies or savoury. Yummy with soy sauce or chillies dipped in oil and soy sauce . Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa
Such a loving family 💕 i would really love to live in a rural Chinese village like that 💕 By the way Miriam do you and your family ( your mother in law in this video ) speak in mandarin? And use simplified Chinese character? It was hard to catch the accent so i asked
I love your videos, they show such a beautiful part of China that I would love to visit! I also want to learn the language, maybe someday haha. What language does your mother-in-law speak? Also she is the best cook!
Hi Miriam, baozi they look delicious! are they made with bread flour? or all-purpose flour? just curious. because they dough look really stretchy, like bread flour.
Your mother in law is very hardworking & she looks like a very kind & happy woman.
Such a beautiful gentle afternoon. You're video was so beautiful to watch as you honour and appreciate the hands of your mother in law. What a gentle woman she is.
Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii🌸I’ve watch almost all your videos & have enjoyed everyone. Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories.

Those look amazing! You should make a family traditions cookbook and add your father-in - laws stories.
Oooh yesss please!!

I've never seen Baozi in Europe, but then I've never been to any so-called China town!
In London, some more upmarket eateries have popped up in recent years selling mostly baozi. Some sell the totally enclosed bao, some sell the gua bao/kou rou (扣肉包). Search "bao places in London" and you will find quite a few.
Universities in the US are another great place to be introduced to baozi, also most Chinese restaurants will make them for you if you ask.
Steamed buns are so good. I like dumplings and their related counterparts most.
Wonderful video. I've been eating 包子 all my life, but this is the first time I've have seen them being made.

Steam bao is way better than fried. Juicier when you open up the bao.
I think your mother-in-law used spinach and diakan (luobo) for major ingredients. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!
We made two different ones, one with spinach and luobo and one with dipicai and potatoe :)
@@MiriamFollin 素菜包子!I wish I have the same type mother-in-low as you!
Amazing! I've missed baozi so much! And you're also very talented at making them🥰
The veggie baozi looks yummy! Next time instead of baking cookies, i'll try making baozi.
Let me know how it goes!

By the way Miriam do you and your family ( your mother in law in this video ) speak in mandarin? And use simplified Chinese character?
It was hard to catch the accent so i asked
Yes, only Mandarin is used to communicate with her mother.Because living in rural areas for a long time, there is a bit of local rural accent.
Oh they look so good. I hope you and your family are well.
I cannot wait!
莧菜is the right spell, I think. What’s other ingredients? Boazi is one of my favorite 麵食。
I love your videos, they show such a beautiful part of China that I would love to visit! I also want to learn the language, maybe someday haha. What language does your mother-in-law speak? Also she is the best cook!
