- Hey loves I dyed my hair red for the first time! It was a long stressful process but I made this video so you don't make the same mistakes as me. I am NOT a hair expert! I am sharing what I learned from this experience.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
If you have dyed your hair black you most likely will need to lift the black dye first before coloring it red. I recommend using the "Color Oops Color Remover". This color remover states is bleach free and is more gentle in removing the black dye compared to loreals "Color Zap Color Remover which is like a light "bleach" and may severely dry out your hair.

Girl I've been dying my hair at home for years and recently took black box dye out with the color oops but I still have more to lift. Giiiirl when I say I had anxiety through this entire video 😭😂😳. You did that though you look amazing. You never need a 40 vol though. Developer for depositing colour is only 10-20 you only need higher for using bleach. You look bomb red.

Thank you soooo much for this video!!! It’s such an honest and well explained tutorial! And TYSM for explaining the difference between Color Oops and Color Zap! The previous tutorial I saw also failed to mention it ISN’T bleach free, she basically said the products were interchangeable and I would have taken her word for it 🥲I made the mistake of putting black box dye over my faded L’Oréal HiColor Red hair, and of course I regret it and miss my red hair so this is my attempt at going back.

Your mistake is dying your roots first. You NEVER dye the roots first because they heat faster than your ends. No matter what hair texture you have, you never ever do roots first. Hope this helps!

I don't know if I'm trippin but I think your hair looked amazing every time..I have never been able to get my black hair to color..not even with bleach 😫
Very honest video.
You should do an update about ur hair like 4 months from now, and be careful with heat. I dyed my hair using the same stuff and flat ironed it twice, like 2 months apart. The second time I got it done professionally for a friends wedding but ended up with severe heat damage.
Remember dying ur hair opens up the cuticle to deposit colour so therefore your porosity has changed. So be gentle with it.

I used color zap on my jet black hair and it got all of it out in one try. Crème of nature conditioner helped with the dryness.

I know this video is older but I used color oops to lift my black dye and it left my hair feeling like a Brillo pad. I ended up having to do a big chop 😩

yep ColorZap definitely bleached my hair too. it got wayyy lighter than my natural hair color
this happened to me except my hair is just naturally dark brown so only my roots turned out light

my hair dye was black permanent and 7 or 8 months old. I do not live where I can access hicolor or a Sally's or any American conveniences I want to dye it though red
