Growing Threat of Insects and Disease

One of the biggest threats to the future of our forests is the introduction of new insects and diseases brought on by changing climate and globalization, and the disruption to existing ecosystems they bring. To discuss this, we spoke to the USDA Forest Service’s Andrew Liebhold at the IUFRO World Congress in Stockholm, Sweden. We note the importance of insects and disease to the forest ecosystem, but also the challenges brought on by disruptions and the introduction of new species through climate change.
