I am starting off some broad beans that are supposed to be good at this time for a crop in October called Luz de Otono. Plus some turnips called Snowball. It’s my first time so fingers crossed 🤞

As you say raised beds are ideal for carrots to help protect against carrot root fly. Lifting to thin out can attract carrot root fly as the smell is released when transplanting, so I don’t thin mine either x

Do you think i can sow seeds of climbing green beans? I have just had a fantastic crop from a set of 8 plants i bought from a garden center, back in March: i had to cover them with fleece as it froze in April and the soil in a plastic container was so cold , i thought i would lose them, but, no they did grow healthy. So…do u think i could try again now, but sowing them? We are in North Wales….

I would have never thought to sow cucumbers now but maybe I should dig out the seed packet and give them a try!

I've just sown cauliflower 'All year Round' & expect them to crop in October & kohl rabi which should mature around the same time.
