  • What vegetable seeds can you sow in August? Well August is a great time to think about extending your growing season and to start planning for your autumn and winter veg. August is also a fantastic time to start to fill some of those gaps in your growing areas as some of your earlier veg are harvested.
There is still plenty of choice and it is not to late to sow a wide range of vegetable seeds as the warmer conditions and longer days provide an excellent environment for outdoor sowing. In this video I share with you 14 different vegetable seeds that I will be sowing in August along with my favourite varieties to give you some suggestions which I hope you will try for yourself.
I would love to know what vegetables you are sowing in August so please let me know of any suggestions you have including varieties; in the comments below the video.

I’ve just started Spring Onions, Spinach Beet, more Radishes and Beetroot 🤞.
I’d like to do more potatoes but wouldn’t be able to move the container if the weather turns. Next year I hope to do a main crop and some earlies, so I can enjoy more homegrown potatoes 🥔 😊

Thank you very much for your comment Charlotte which is greatly appreciated. You have started a good range of veg that should give you a good supply through the autumn and winter. Also, although they can take up a lot of space it is always worth growing as many potatoes as you can. Kind regards. Gary

I'm glad you liked the French Breakfast radishes. Unfortunately I have no luck with radishes. They grow best in spring and fall, and where I live there's hardly anything but winter and summer. People often say they're a super easy crop, but in some places they're about the hardest vegetable to grow. Thanks for the suggestions; your garden looks great!

Thank you for your comment which is really appreciated. It’s a shame that you have difficulty with radish as they are such a lovely veg. Kind regards. Gary
