Curious how the fabric that you glued directly on the metal of the van is holding up. Concerned with condensation and the fabric ending up with water stains.
Sick video mate. One question, how did you attach the panel above the sliding door? Did you use a blind fixing of some sort to attach it? Cheers man 🤙🏻
Great video. Very relevant as we are in the midst of our own build. The last area you explained has puzzled me with the rear door area. In our van we rerouted all the factory wire harness to the rear but cannot figure out what to do with that dang grounding bolt that sticks out about an in on the driver side rear pillar. What di you end up doing?
Thank you for sharing! The detail work you have done is amazing. How did you secure your ceiling above the rear doors? Have a great day, Janice Olympic Peninsula
Thanks for all the videos... Any recommendations on trimming out the window with marathon fabric (i.e.: oversize the fabric to have enough to fit the shaping of the metal/window area), etc?
Holy irony: I finally just sorted the infamous slider/B pillar upper trim. Fyi..im at the exact place you are with the "never being done w anything but spending hrs on everythjng
Hi, the little finishing touches are what makes for a put together project. Takes a while but definitely worth the effort 👍. I’m curious how you fixed the above sliding door trim?
All great solutions for those hard to finish areas. For the B pillar I cut the side section from the metal bulkhead, scribed it to fit, covered it with stretch carpet and installed it using the existing bolt holes.
Great video and really well explained. I've been looking for something different to line the walls of my VW Caddy van (I'm UK based) and have seen a few photos of this tweed looking material being used but only saw it on flat panels and wondered if it had enough stretch to do cover complex shapes. Your video has given me a bit of hope that it could work! The B pillar covered on the Caddy look a more tricky than yours but I think I'll give it a go. Thank you.
Scott - what did you use to cover your fasteners on your wall panels? Snap caps, beauty/trim washer and flat head screw? I’m debating on a clean look for my panels.
Excellent prospective on the hard bits of finishing trim inside your sprinter. We heard you and all the others out there struggling to get an " outfitter " quality interior. Terrawagen now offers an interior trim kit to address the areas you cover in your video. We released the rear trim kit a few weeks ago, and the front kit will be available towards the end of Jan 2023. Love what you're doing! Get your flare on!
Love this video, and wish I had it when I was building this out! I 'solved' the B-pillar/headliner corner/sliding door by using the sliding door bolts to attach plywood to them so I could glue/screw the trim on, but I love how you addressed it and will use that next time!
I just wanted to say how thrilled I am you did this video. This is the one that I've been worrying about in the back of my mind for months. Now I get exactly what to do for these areas!
and now you tell me how to do it :-) but I do thank you anyhow I am doing Metris and there is no help what so ever ! :-) Nobody does Metris and it's perfect camper just for two people. Thank you Scott
Hi Scott, 1. Will your updated guide include sections on using 80/20? 2. Do you have any more detailed videos on how you did the trim mentioned in todays video (ie, luan/foam/duramax). As Im struggling to find anywhere online that shows the whole process in detail.
Hey Steve I have started workng on updating it and in the mean time I am very active in helping people with any questions they have! If you watch my headliner video that is the same process take a look at that one but also if you have quesstion I can email you over a ton of photos. Colin you are right Ken has tons of great info on his channel and website
This is awesome. You are totally right, those little details take a van from a nice DIY finish to a next level professional finish. I have one question about the rear pillars. Did you just let your luan trim piece lay over the wires and bolt that go about half way down the pillar? The ones that are normally covered by the black plastic trim. And I also want to ask what you used to cut those foam blocks by the headliner? They seem pretty... flaky? Thanks!
Hey its sort of a long answer but I have some photos of the rear panel if you want to send me an email ill send them over but I did make a little lip so I could tuck the wire in behind.
I bought the upholstery fabric from jackson.ca which is based in Winnipeg, Canada. Their site is basically just a pdf catalogue so hard to link to... I’ve also seen a lot of people get what’s called ‘Marathon Tweed’ from A Perfect Fit.
Did you thin the glue at all or just run it through the sprayer as is? Any tips you learned during the process? Did you spray small areas at a time. Secure. Then spray more?
Yeah it's not easy to shop on that site! They also don't really sell to the general public. I think this is a better resource to find it, and yeah the color is Steele: www.nationalupholsterysupply.com/dmx001.html

Great video! How did you attach the molding piece “above the slider” to the actual wall?
I really like the HPL and Duramax, but are you worried at all about the glue off gassing? What glue are you using?

Excellent content. Looks better and is cheaper than the factory plastic.
This is just what I’ve been looking for. Thanks for the inspiring video. How many yards of fabric did you end up using?
Very useful video....nice finish work....showing how to do detail finishing work is much lacking on you tube...
Thank you for sharing these ideas, Scott! they are the same areas I have been fussing over to figure out how to finish them off nicely.
Awesome! Happy to help!
How’d you attach the over passenger door trim panels?
How did you detail the oddly shaped area aft of the sliding door? Is that the area you were alluding to in the video?
When i Build and Film for UA-cam at the same time its like Making Love to your lady and watching Netflix at the same time.
Haha yeah the filming adds another layer of stress that I’m not sure I always need.
Any suggestions on how to build around the windows.

My last major build was 24 years ago - the days you toil for no perceivable gain and then.....voila!
Great content on a topic that is rarely covered. Details, details, details. Those very same "unfinished" sections bother the crap out of me too!
Yeah it always really bugged me, thanks for watching the video!

We’d like to know the answer to this too! Sure is unattractive with all those little bolts sticking out
Its held on with n52 magnets send me an email and ill forward over a photo

Great point about how the upholstery hides imperfections, I hadn't considered that.

Great video! When I look up Duramax fabric the sites state “no stretch”. Are there different types of Duramax?
Hi Scott, how much (around) foam and fabric should I buy for sprinter 144"? Thanks!
Great video but i would love of you only showed the can and the details and not a shot of you talking..
Just what I have been looking for!!! Great work! Thank you!
Just signed up for your guide
Thanks Mark dont hesitate to ask me any questions you have as you go through it happy to help
thanks for the video. how did you fasten the trim pieces above the sliding door?

What color duramax is that material that you used?
Well of knowledge
Much appreciated! 👌
I cannot agree more with what you said at 7:26
Did you paint or seal the Luan before applying the upholstery foam? Outstanding work!
I didnt but maybe I should have....but Luan plywood is fairly resistant tomoisture and with my build Im confident that it wont get moistur eup there.
and now you tell me how to do it :-) but I do thank you anyhow I am doing Metris and there is no help what so ever ! :-) Nobody does Metris and it's perfect camper just for two people. Thank you Scott
Thats awesome yeah Ive seen a few cool Metris campers they are the perfect rig for lots of people.
Keep it up Scott. Another fantastic video. Your attention to detail is amazing. Cheers from Kelowna.
Thanks 👍Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for watching!
You are the man!! Thank you!
Awesome info. Thanks
Amazing work!
I'm digging the hat man!

@@scottadamson6116 is there a place where you could post those photos of the bottom of the rear back door. We have the same question. Thanks!
You mentioned you would like the duramax product in the description but I don't see it. Am I missing something?
Check out the vlog details. No link but all the details you need to look for yourself- locally.

Hey super nice video. Do you have the part no. of this foam covers? I´m facing the same problem...
It's a tricky # to find for sure. Please share when you do. The exploded diagrams of the interior parts/#'s don't have this piece listed.
Sorry, no but if you contact the dealer they should be able to help you. My dealer did give it to me a while ago.
Hi , well done , the detail are done super nice .
Thanks !
Scott - what did you use to clean your spray gun after each use? I’m sure the glue is hard on the sprayer.
The company I get me Glue from also as a Cleaner Jackson.ca and I just use that which is a strong solvent.
Did you thin the glue at all or just run it through the sprayer as is? Any tips you learned during the process? Did you spray small areas at a time. Secure. Then spray more?

Great video, thanks! What is the tool being used at 1:16?
Its a digital caliper
Really useful thanks. I am thinking of doing much the same in my van build, so glad I was going along the right lines 😁
Glad it was helpful!
