    Just in case it isn't apparent from the above, in the 1960's, the Ring O'Bells public house in Winkleigh was the prize in a competition in the Daily Sketch (newspaper). Although Mr. Adams is descibed as a tenant in the blurb above, my understanding is that the competition prize was the freehold rather than a tenancy so he was the new owner rather than the new tenant. The pub was destroyed by fire in 1968 and was never rebuilt. The site of the former pub is now an area of grass outside the western entrance to the churchyard.

    I think the blonde lady behind the bar was an actress called Shirley Eaton.Also 2of the ladies country dancing could have been Glenn King and Ada Cockram.

    This was my Mum that won the pub with her then husband Mr Adams.
