Sheesh, I'm moving to Boston for the tea and the snakes. Cool observations with those waters, wild how they were coming right up and by you guys. Called the racer and found it in 5 min. Crazy. Still nothing here in Arizona. Terrible place this AZ. Nice edit, Lou.
The tea is legal now in Massachusetts. What a world we live in🙄 In terms of snakes, we have good numbers but not good variety. We have way less wilderness than Arizona but it is safe to camp without firearms. Hardly anything here that bites are dangerous. Except the ticks. We do have a cougar problem though.
@@mikezncrew Good points on the venomous factor AZ vs. MA, we have quite a few rattlesnakes, not to mention all the cacti and other bushes that want to shred you to pieces. Not sure which is the lesser of two evils, the ticks and cougars there or the shredding/poking/stinging flora here.
Just about all the snakes we have locally. We do have red bellied snakes, brown snakes, milk snakes, Hognose and recently spotted Copperheads too. I live on Long Island in NY, so venomous were supposedly eradicated years ago. Some areas of Nassau County have had reported sightings of copperheads recently. Hognose are very uncommon, but still around. We have huge snapping turtles like that here too.
Super awesome to see! I wanted to go herping last time I was in the Boston area a couple years ago but didn’t get the chance, so this is great to watch. In other news the weather has been perfect the last couple weeks for herping up here in Nor Cal!
BTW, you glossed right over the state threatened blandings turtles we saw. Those are the rock stars of our local herps. They're pretty rare. You have seen more blandings turtles than most people that live here. 😊
I flew from Minnesota to Boston on a regular plane but the they put me on this tiny plane in Boston to Vermont and I was terrified, On the way back I had to do it all again but it was worse on the way back, Anyways Boston and Vermont were awesome and so is this video, Thanks Lou
Don't normally consider New England as a snakey place, but Rob may be onto something moving here from AZ for better pickings! Doesn't quite top your King Cobra spotting in (Singapore?) but for NE this was spectacular!! Jim C.
Wow! Black racer... what a find! You were smart to not try picking up the water snakes. They are extremely bitey, kind of hard to peel off and the little teeth can break off in your skin.
Fantastic video, Lou! Very encouraging to see that quantity of snakes in New England. I think your buddy’s right in surmising the water snakes are looking for mates. After catching numerous of the Texas subspecies of ribbon snakes, I agree that that one ribbon was stunning! The black racer footage was epic. That was a large snapper for sure. Common snappers seem to be bigger the further north in their range one goes. That certainly is not the case with most snake species. Thx for sharing and Happy Hunting Lou! 🙂
As a Mass native I approve this content. Awesome to see so many ribbons.
Very cool stuff! Nice to see some recognition for the incredible habitats here in NE.
Thanks. I felt lucky to be able to have a look around the area! Lou B

Check western Mass too, nice Timber's in the south Berkshires

@@ToddAutry I kid you not. Hardest place to herp I've ever been. I'm moving to OK or Boston or GA or somewhere other than this snakeless place.
Cool to see someone get just as excited about seeing a Garter as they do a King Cobra! Awesome video!!
Thanks! I love em all! Lou B
Ditto!!
What an amazing day!
Thanks for sharing Lou!
Thanks so much. Had such a great time! Lou B
@@loub747 that's awesome
Lots of great stuff in this video, Lou! The water snakes were fun to watch, love the "real time" observational shots to see what they are going to do!
Thanks Scott. I was surprised at home many snakes we found!
Beautiful swimmer!❤
Yeah, it sure was! Lou B
very cool footage of the water snakes trailing eachother.
Thanks. Got very lucky with that! Lou B
Great stuff as always Lou!
Welcome to the E. Coast Lou... my growing-up stomping grounds! Now I spend more time in your S.E.Asian designations! Cheers!

Thanks so much. Lou
Always love how stoked you are brother, killer video

Garter snakes...? Ribbon snakes...? Sheeee-yit!! I was hoping to see a Wade Boggs Tree Viper or something...
LOL. You take what you can get. More videos on the way! Lou B
That was great! Thanks!
It’s my pleasure. Lou B

It was very refreshing to show off our common local stuff to an appreciative audience.
Nice, the snakes swimming around was pretty cool, and always good seeing a snapper
THE LEGEND CAME TO MASS
Lol. It had to be done! So much fun! Damn hot too.
🎉Yay shoes!!
LOL. I wasn't thinking clearly! Lou B
Glad we don't have smellivision... all those snakes crank the musk to another level, lol
That they do!! Lou B
A snaky looking place that actually had snakes in it.
It sure did! Lou B
As a Florida herper, it feels weird seeing someone excited about a Black Racer but I know you don't see them in California LOL.
Yeah, I hear ya. Very cool snakes in their own right though. So fast!
Come to North Georgia man - I’ll put you on some giants
I look forward to it!
I just love black racers. They are a little snappy, aren't they.
Me too. Yeah, just a bit!
That was fun. Whereabouts outside of Boston?
Thanks it was close to the New Hampshire boarder. Not sure exactly where though. Lou B
That Racer wasnt resetting its jaw, it was breathing heavily & gaping because it was so stressed!
I disagree with you on that one. I’ve never seen a stressed snake reset it’s jaw.
Would you say that's a good sign having all those reptiles that the eco system is nice and healthy no pollution
I would definitely think so. Love seeing it! Lou B
See any bruins?
No, no bruins!
Amazing how the water snakes came to you guys! Wild!
Yeah, couldn't believe it either!! Good times!!! Lou B

Herp Western Massachusetts and see some Timber's in the south Berkshires
Sounds like a plan for the next time! Lou B
Fun day. Come back any time Lou.
Thanks Mike! I look forward to it! Lou B
Good stuff Lou B. ❤❤❤
Thanks so much my friend. Appreciated

Surprised you didnt come across any rattlesnakes. I know there are many in the blue hills area in MA
Yeah, apparently there weren’t any in the areas we went to. Lou B
Yeah, while timbers certainly exist there, "many" is not a word most of us would use.
Either way, that location is not a place for you tube.
