    I love the opening music. I love your banter. I love the serious cowboy bit. I love when one person finds their person and it’s so obvious that they are each other’s person. You guys are cute, funny, entertaining, and probably the only couple I’d ever go on a double date with. Keep doin’ this, I’m about to watch your other videos.

    The best beam product I've ever had. Its smooth, full flavored, and has the bite. 19.95 on sale. A steal.

    This is my favorite under $20 bourbon (18.89 near me). Tastes like something that costs more. I appreciate seeing you two do something available everywhere at a reasonable price. I sure hope they keep making it. Have not tried devils cut so would be very interested in a Jim Beam flight fight.

    This is my new fav in the JB line up. I do get stewed red fruit on the palate and oak not really smoke. Non chill filtered gives it a great mouth feel as well, in its price range it is King

    What I Truly find interesting to see is the full evolution of the "well" bourbons. Not to long ago Jim Beam, Knob Creek, Old Forrester, even Heaven Hill we considered to be "of the lower grade" on the bourbon shelves. It is so amazingly awesome to see them be given that second look as Bourbon drinkers realise they have had hidden gems just sitting right there in plane sight. So very cool.
    Cheers -J.O.

    Would love to see a Jim Beam flight fight. I like the Jim beam Choice. Chad said they don't make it anymore, here it's still available. Guess i need to stash it. Nice review, how does it hold out against Wild Turkey 101?

      Chris Tian Good question, have to do it blind to know for sure, but I would think the WT 101 would win.

    I'm usually not a fan of JB products, but tasting this one blind recently I thought it was pretty good. Oddly enough I also like the Devil's Cut. The Distillers Cut is pretty solid for the price though, keep up the good work!

      I'm in total agreement. Jim Beam's Distiller's Cut is surprisingly good, but I've really enjoyed it and the Devil's Cut has made its way into my regular bourbon buying list as well.
      Looking forward to the Jim Beam flight fight.

    Sorta off the beaten path with regard to the video, but I am headed to Louisville at the end of the month for a 4 day bourbon trail trip. I would love your opinion if there is a place that is not a distillery that you would recommend for either a private tasting or just a cool place to hang and chill and drink bourbon. I think I got over zealous with making an itinerary full of distillery tour after distillery tour and a chill place or private tasting would be a great alternative. We will be in Louisville one day, Bardstown one day, and Frankfort/lawrenceville area another.

    Great Uncorking guys! I don't mind screw tops. Has not happened to me yet. But I've herd horror stories of corks breaking when opening the bottle, pieces of the cork breaking apart and having to filter them out or the worst one yet getting mold. Have you experienced anything like this?

  • @DuncanHarmsworth

    It always surprises me how many people automatically put their noses up at the mention of Jim Beam. I tell them: "Just because something is readily available where we live, that does not make it garbage. If all you have had is White Label, then move up a shelf". As a lover of all types of whisk(e)y, I feel sometimes that people who love a certain type of whisk(e)y only ever try the bottom shelf of other types of whisk(e)y because they want to spend as little as possible on an experiment. It is too bad really. I still firmly believe that if the two of you had a first fill bourbon cask Balvenie 12 Year for your scotch instead of a smokey, heather peated Highland Park Magnus, you may have come away from the Dummies' Live Stream with a different opinion. Anyway, love the reviews as always, and would love to see a true Jim Beam Flight Fight as well. My favorite so far is the JB Black Double Aged 8 Year which I bought a large amount of when I caught a whiff of NAS on the horizon. Cheers!

      I agree. I don't understand people getting snotty over Jim Beam. It's a solid, classic bourbon. Is it going to blow your mind? No. Is it Kentucky Gentleman? No. Is it in between? Yeah. It's bourbon. Don't be weird. Haha

  • @Fred_Gilbert
    @Fred_Gilbert 5 років тому

    So I'm confused on the "Limited Release" thing. Was the 2017 release the only one and bottles are just hanging around? I found out about this juice yesterday and while I was out hunting today I grabbed a bottle. I also saw a bunch of it at a couple of other stores. Anywho, damn good $20-23, I need to get a $23 Evan SiB to compare though since I haven't had that in years. Either way, if they aren't making any more I might grab a spare or two.
    As I sip it and listen to you talk about the smokiness I find myself wondering about why they made it. Maybe it was barrels that were gaining oak/char flavors too quickly. It's intriguing that it's so oakey/smokey at such a young age.

    Great video as always! I know Chad is a self-proclaimed "Beam" guy, but I can't remember if I've seen OGD BiB or 114 make an appearance in a flight fight or uncorking. How do you feel that the Distiller's Cut stacks up against the OGD offerings?

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  6 років тому

      Ryan D The OGD line up was in our first episode, 50 under $25. Also used the 114 in our Tight Spot cocktail episode. Haven't done an Uncorking of either yet, though.

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  6 років тому

      Shaun Russell That's kind of what we're doing with our Live shows every Sunday. We've done 1 episode so far where we revisited 4 previously Uncorked bottles to see how they've faired. Might work one revisited bottle into every Live episode now unless the show has a big topic that needs all the attention.

  • @KennethRathburn

    Found a bottle of this at a local store that overcharges for EVERYTHING, but this was $20 there (and it was their last bottle). Since I hadn't seen it in at least 2 years, it kind of won by default. I just did a blind flight between this, Buffalo Trace and Old Forester 100. This was my least favorite; found it dry, surprisingly unsweet and mostly tasted like dry, roasted peanuts with oak and a bit of tobacco. I can definitely appreciate it, but it strikes me as something I'd pair with a cigar (I don't smoke, so feel free to flame me) rather than something I'd pour to enjoy.

  • @TheOriginalRaster
    @TheOriginalRaster 6 років тому

    Great video. Very entertaining. Enjoyed it. I had an idea... you might not like it... Here goes:
    I think in some cases you should compare something you're taste testing versus some other similar bottle.
    After uncorking and tasting you could have a second bottle to help and compare against.
    Daniel from the Whisky Vault (Level 3 Whisky Sommelier) early on said that the way our smell and taste works one really should compare versus something else in order to help calibrate your senses. That is useful in bringing out flavors, etc... Whatever he said, it convinced me at the time.
    Whenever I 'taste test' something I now also compare it versus something similar. That does seem to help.
    Just trying to be helpful.
    Cheers!
