My expectation: Creating new early route Pokemon with new types and not reusing the other types; vs the outcome: Installing new types in the early bird, rodent and insect Pokemon. I expected to see some brand new early route Pokemon that aren't based around the formerly mentioned animal groups, but I suppose there's no chance of new groups with the typings that are currently unused as early route material. Like say there's a new route 1 first stage Pokemon that is mono Ground, Ice, or Electric only, and they can be found alongside the Normal rodent, Bug insect, and Flying bird. They can obtain a new type or stay mono, but at least there could be something new added in later generations before it's too late. I have created a few early route Pokemon with different types along side the former three, and I find them to be quite a unique but fun concept, especially if we get a new region based on a desert or the tundra.
I think it would’ve been a better concept if it was a branched evolution where you could evolve it to either beakayo (and give it the fighting type) or poultroon (swap the fighting for normal) where one evolves after knocking x amount of Pokémon at level 23 while Poultroon evolves after running away from X amount of encounters at level 23. Level 23 is a place holder but ties in to genetics and our 23 pairs of chromosomes.
I can get behind this idea. The two seemed much more so like opposites to each other rather than fitting together in an evolutionary line, especially with the "unexpected twist" of the fierce little Normal-type dino-chick losing all its nerve & attitude upon evolving into a scaredy-cat chicken and yet only then gaining the Fighting-type. It doesn't fit in any logical sense and just feels backwards for the sake of being unexpected & shocking.
Agreed. The idea itself is confusing to me due to the cowardly side being Fighting type. Like, why would a fighter flee from combat? Also, the branched evolution works better for the concept since you don’t go from fight to flight and vice versa; you go into either from neutral. I see the preliminary stage being called Timichik: a pure Flying type which can be inspired by Chicken Little, hiding in his eggshell for protection from the outside world. When evolving, he breaks out of it to either fight the danger (Beakayo) or run away from it (Poultroon).
Also lorewise, a troublemaker growing up and becoming more spacially aware (hence, cowardly) makes sense. After spending all their youth being brash and stirring trouble, they grow up and realize not starting fights (which again is seen as cowardly to most), is the better option. So the lore of it becoming more chicken is pretty spot on
I like the idea of the evolution learning to be more evasive and slippery rather than head on and aggressive. While its movements may seem cowardly and unbefitting of a Fighting type, it actually could be exhausting the opponent or baiting them into a vulnerable spot
It's also a natural grow where we are more brave as a child because we don't know anything. While as an adult, we are more cowardly since we learn more about the world and the consequences of our actions
An idea for Beakayo and Poultroon. Perhaps Beakayo's bravery takes the form of it playing chicken with opponents. Using its flying type to rush other flying pokemon forcing them to swerve away. But after it evolves Poultroon is now fearful. It has made enemies with its previous antics. Fearing retribution it stays near the ground. If any pokemon sneaks up on it Poultroon lashes out with a fighting type attack to disorient the pokemon so Poltroon can run away.
In my personal opinion, the chicken-line just feels backward in too many ways to really feel believable, going too hard for the "oooh, unexpected twist" factor rather than believability.
So while most are cooking up Route 1 Pokemons that are both Beast, Bug, and Bird, no one has ever talked about Route 1 Pokemons that are based of aquatic creatures. And in Splatoon's case, Octotroopers and Smallfries are already good examples of the aquatic Route 1 Pokemons what I mentioned little earlier
How about for Beakayo and Poultroon they are 2nd stage evolutions. From its first stage (whatever it maybe) to evolve it to Beakayo you have to win 50 battles in a with 1st stage ONLY or to evolve to Poultroon you have to run away from 100 battles IN A ROW. That way it’ll determine which form you get!!
Beakayo and Poultroon are so interesting to me. I like the fight or flight theme through their evolution line. The cowardice being given to the evolution who’s actually the fighting type is a little strange though. Even though that puts them in the “fight or flight” order, respectively, it feels to me that it takes away from understanding the concept compared to if you had it the other way around. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man. Designs are 🔥 as always!
@LordDarkrai2000 But if that's the case, why gain the Fighting-type upon evolution, versus having it initially and then losing it to Normal-type upon evolving into a more cowardly and/or wise Pokémon?
@@MidnightLugia24 in martial arts it's about choosing when and when not to fight making it more elevated than a street brawl among untrained thugs. that why the flight one would be fighting type because it is wiser than the brawling on the drop of a hat Fight one
I think its considered a regional canine, like arcanine, stoutland, boltund, the three dogs in gen 9, houndoom etc. at least that what i remember hearing in a pragmajik video
I think you're missing a few details on some of these Pokémon It's good to see that Gorimaw is a final evolution to an early game bug (the dragon type seems a little too much to get in the early game), but I would like to see it's prevo. Also you currently list it as a mono dragon type, not sure if that's a oversite, but it seems like it should also keep the bug type. Beakayo evolving into Poultroon is an interesting concept I admit, but the way you apply the fighting type doesn't work. I mean why does this line only get the fighting type when it evolves into a coward? It Poultroon needs a better reason for gaining the fighting type then just simple irony. Maybe if it had different forms where it switches from fight and flight mode then that might justify it Terravian looks cool, but I have two issues with it being in this video. The first it that I would argue that we already have a route one rock Pokémon in the form of Rockruff. The second is how much like Gorimaw, this doesn't look like a first stage evolution. This may also be just me, but I think it also looks like something that evolved from Hoothoot. Maybe this could be something that evolved from a regional variant of Hoothoot (that could also be a rock flying combo)
As a Ghost type specialist, I freaking love Lilarva! He’s so cute! Reminds me of how a little kid might peep their eyes over the top of a bed sheet when they’re scared.
For the fighting one I feel like a split evo could work better based on whether it's atk or speed is higher(Like tyrogue) one representing fight and the other flight
This may have been mentioned already, but with Beakayo eventually gaining the fighting type once it becomes Pultroon, it actually made me think of the cockfights that people would have with their chickens.
when I hear Vermelin, I keep hearing a “Merlin” which also fits the fairy typing, as a mythical mage also, I can imagine Snowdent’s evolution just being a pile of them, like a pile of snowballs, while also referencing the lemming stereotype
This is a fun concept, as always. It could be fun to see a video going over Missed Opportunities for each region, I've given the suggestion on the comments for videos on a few different channels already. I imagine a rout1 dragon based on the bearded dragon lizard might be more likely and it would be a cuter result. I'd also do the rout1 fairy as a bug because fairies are tiny insect people.
Idea for a signature ability on Poultroon: Cowardice, When this Pokémon enters battle, for the next 2 turns, they may choose not to attack, on the third turn, they gain a ATK boost and don't choose to not attack.

Starters have had elemental moves from the off for years now. Just address movesets of the wild mons and even then that isn't an issue with access to fairy and dark. Only an issue if you don't make teams.
@kylebuffkin7514 Rattata, yes. Sentret, no. Zigzagoon, no. Bidoof, yes. Patrat, yes. Bunnelby, no. Yungoos, no. Skwovet, yes. Wooloo, no. Lechonk, no. So 4/10. Even if you don't count Wooloo you only have 4/9
These kinds of Fakemon things need to stop. We already heard that Game Freak axed the Flying type Eevee because it was too close to fan made Mons. What else are we denying ourselves by making these things? I want a Burrowing owl....but thanks to this we'll never get one!!! It doesn’t get Dragon Rage
It’s just a stupid strong Butterfree/Beedrill counterpart
i really don’t think so with fairy types being so common. the bug combo is what makes this one OP, since bug resists fairy
It would be funny if it did get dragon rage but not till the final form which doesn't evolve until it's no longer useful @@SheruMuko

No, most are, few are not
@kylebuffkin7514 Rattata, yes. Sentret, no. Zigzagoon, no. Bidoof, yes. Patrat, yes. Bunnelby, no. Yungoos, no. Skwovet, yes. Wooloo, no. Lechonk, no. So 4/10. Even if you don't count Wooloo you only have 4/9
@@andruberriosbuzura7835 it's a generalized term.
Aside from Terravian and Gorimaw, I'm not a fan of the rest of them (no offense)
These kinds of Fakemon things need to stop. We already heard that Game Freak axed the Flying type Eevee because it was too close to fan made Mons. What else are we denying ourselves by making these things? I want a Burrowing owl....but thanks to this we'll never get one!!!
I'm sure you used a Route 1 Bug type on your team....Everyone used Vikavolt.
You don't think Game Freak would have a pokemon lead children away?!.....Have you READ the dex entries for the Ghosts?!?!?!
This is such an odd take. I think GameFreak will continue to make plenty of new Pokémon regardless of fanart lmao
@@lukieq12 The Tera-leak said that they were working on a Flying Eevee, but that the design they had was too close to some fan art so it got scrapped.
Lets rip off pokemon part whatever lol 😂😂
