I took classes at Slimmons for 4 years (1990-1994) and Richard wrote a chapter about how we met in his book "Never Give up." I'm so grateful for the time I was able to spend with him. He was brilliantly funny and had a huge heart. Most importantly, he helped millions of people feel better about themselves! He is deeply missed. Thank you for sharing this lovely tribute, Jordan.
My mom and I met Richard Simmons in Cherokee, NC. We got to exercise with him and sit and chat with him. He even gave me a kiss on the cheek and a picture and autograph. A few years later, our home burned down and I was sad to have lost that picture. He sent me a new one with a very nice personal message. He was truly such a kind person. We will miss him. @0518Purple…My Aunt Jeanette lived in Cherokee. I was only there once, I was little it was over 60 years ago😔We went to Chimney Rock too. I believe it was the summer of 64’ we drove down from the Northeast. Peace and love to you and yours friend 🙋🏽♀️💋🕊
I met him in Georgetown DC & he was so amazing!!! & even picked me & said "you are a tiny little guy!" I was in my 20's & I got a picture with him!!! Such a sweet man!!!
I, too, met Richard while I was working as a secretary for Buena Vista Television at Disney Studios in about 1998. He came in for an appointment with the executives and was wearing a fun vest covered with humorous, colorful buttons all over it. He stopped at my desk and told me he liked my hair because it looked like Cleopatra's hair. I was flattered. He was his wacky, TV self and willing to take the time to say hello to the administrative staff. I'm glad we had an encounter and sorry to hear that Richard is gone. People really missed him when he disappeared from public life. He was such an icon.
Great tribute. I think Richard is the first celebrity I've ever met. It was the early 80's and i was just a little girl. 8, 9 or 10 years old. He was doing a book signing at our local mall. My mom took my sister and I to meet him. He was so nice and he kissed me on the cheek, too. I'm not sure what happened to the signed book, but I asked my mom to look for it. May he Rest In Peace.
I remember when I first saw Richard, as Jordan mentioned he was on General Hospital. I was a pre teen and Richard was an aerobics instructor on the show (naturally) during the hugely popular Luke and Laura era in the late 70’s, early 80’s. My friends and I loved him on the show, us small town girls had never seen anything like him and thought he was so fun. RIP Richard, you brought hope and joy to thousands of people over the years.
Richard was so inspiring and a kind soul. I know so many people were looking foward to seeing him back in the public eye myself included. But everything happens for a reason, God bless him. Thanks Jordan. RIP Richard 💖🌄🌈💐🙏🤸
Such an inspiring man, always showing joy. He came to Minneapolis in the early 80s and I joined the crowd for his workout. (Thank you for wearing your Twins hat!)
Thank you Jordan. I'm sure that Richard read your birthday greeting🌻My first experience with Richard was seeing him on General Hospital when I was a young girl and I always remember his visits to Late Night with David Letterman. He was always spunky, full of humor and genuinely kind to others❤
People always made fun of him and it would make me so angry. He was the most humble and genuine person ever. The world needed more people like Richard. He will be missed and loved always.
Thank you so very much Jordan. Been a student of Richards since 1993. First met him at a Mall then attended two weekend Mother Day retreats. He was just the most loving man on earth. What you saw was Richard. He loved mankind. I miss him and will forever. God Bless you Jordan. ❤ PS do you know the number of Richards house? I would love to send a card to Teresa.
Richard Simmons is the epitome of what being human is all about. He gave away love and spread joy as fast as he himself received it. Laughter is the best medicine and he was the ultimate prescription (remember the skit on Who's Line is it Anyways?🤣) Himself shall be missed but his joyous spirit will remain forever. 💞💫
my mother and her friends would do their exercise routine with Richard Simmons back in the 80s, he was so sweet caring and funny RIP Richard Simmons 🙏❤️🩹
Oh my, I didn't know he fell in the bathroom. As you get older the bathroom is a dangerous place. Make sure your holding onto something especially getting out of the shower. Always think about your next step. If you fall get the the ER and get checked out ASAP.
He brought a lot of joy to so many. Sad that he didn't go to the ER the day he fell. RIP Richard & know you are loved & will be missed. Thank you Jordan for sharing the true story about his life.
You always show such deep respect for those who have passed before us. Thank you. I watched Richard Simmons as a kid, did his exercises because they looked fun and remember how warm and loving he showed himself to be. I was probably 7 years old at the time.💜
I seen a video of the Hollywood tour van stop and saying Richard Simmons lives here and you can see a ball of hair moving across the top of the fence and someone said "IT'S RICHARD !" he heard them and came out like what your experience Richard would be... loved that man.
Hi Jordan!! Hope all is well with you, Katie and Jah!! Thank you so much for bringing this story to us. Loved Richard and followed him on Facebook. He was such a sweet, kind and fun person. May he rest in peace. God bless and be safe.
Welcome back to LA Jordan, thank you for this video ❤. I started following him on his UA-cam and Facebook about 6 months ago, and he kept saying yes it's really me! I heard also the reason he was not seen in public anymore had to do with his bad knees 😢 both my husband and I know about this and can relate somehow. We were both exercise people also, my husband a runner, and me a roller skater. It's a little bit like losing part of your lifeline when you can no longer do the things you love to do, and exercise was his money maker and obviously his happiness ❤ RIP Richard Simmons.
Richard radiated such kind energy. He seemed like one of the good ones. Sort of a staple of television growing up in the 80s, I'm surprised and sad he's gone.
💔I've driven by his house SO many times (there was a time when I would see him in this driveway, as I drove by, it was such a fun Hollywood thing). All the times I drove by, I NEVER NOTICED the mailbox being a model of the house!!!
thanks for sharing this. loved him for who he was, i was never obease as a child but i know he wouldn't want our kids to be this way. was so funny and honest. Fly high Richard.
This was a beautiful memorial broadcast, adding to this are all the comments from fellow viewers displaying just how much he was respected and loved. Many thanks Jordan.
He was a Fun Personality, my Mom watched Sweatin' to the Oldies and she did the workouts in front of the TV watching Richard. I never met him, but I would Bet he was a Loving Spirit. That is the Vibe I always felt. At least this was not a Suicide, I don't want to remember him that way. Wish he had went to the Hospital... Beautiful Home, very nice place there. REST PEACEFULLY, RICHARD... Your Fun and Kind Spirit will NEVER be Forgotten... ❤❤
I love Richard. He was so caring. Thank you for this very nice tribute to him. I always wondered what happened. I believe he was happy . It sounded like it.
I grew up watching him years ago he was a very good man. Thanks for your vlog you always do the best vlogs I have saw others but none come close to yours.
I adored Richard and met him in 1993 and kept in touch with him on social media for several years until he went into hiding. Richard was the most loving, and genuine people I ever met, and he changed my life for the better, I will never forget him, and all he did for thousands of people. Rest well sweet angel, we will never forget you. xoxoxo ❤❤❤
I met Richard Simmons in the 80's when he had an exercise place here in Georgia. The place was Richard Simmons Asylum I met him in Morrow. He brought me up on the platform and we worked out he was there visiting different ones.
Thank you Jordan for memorializing Richard Simmons. Nice you came to LA again. Your videos came into my life when my husband and I needed them the most. Your travels to different places around the world to your fun moments with Jah.. the dog parks with him, celebrity stories and visiting gravesite places, to the first video of meeting the lady of your life, Katie❣🙏 God bless and be safe.
Richard had such a good heart and helped so many people. I miss seeing Jah. When you lived in LA I always enjoyed it when you would start your videos with Jah at the dog park.
Thank you for this. I loved Richard Simmons. Ever since the first time I saw him in General Hospital. He was such an inspiration to all and gave so much of himself to everyone. Rest in peace ❤🙏🏻
You did again, Jordan. Bringing me to dears with a vlog about such a dear, sweet man. You honored the memory or the lovable "Sweating to the Oldies" guy of the 80's and 90's. Thanks, Jordan. Rest in Peace, Richard.
Thank you for including his time on General Hospital. That is exactly where I knew him from and a lot of people leave out that detail when discussing him.
He always seemed like a kind person. Such a sense of humor. I never had the opportunity to meet him but sure made you feel like you knew him. I went on a tour in New Orleans back in 2002 and they showed us his home there. I don't know if he kept it or not. Thank you Jordan for taking us to visit him.
I was sorry to hear of his passing. He seemed to be a nice person, but lots of people liked to pick on him it seemed. Sad, he locked himself away. Even in death he's locked away from people that might to disturb his resting place. I hope he rests in peace. Thank you for showing us where he is buried. You take care and stay safe.
Thank you Jordan for posting about Richard I used to watch him starting in the late 70s with my sister. We would do his exercises together .He was a wonderful man. We loved him.May he RIP.Say hi to Jah...He's so cute.
I was so sad wen I found out he had passed. He was such an amazing person and such an inspiration for so many. He was just such a joy. RIP Richard. Thanks for the share Jordan.
Richard was a good person. Nobody should be bullied for whatever size they are. That's the problem I have with the whole "war on obesity." A Health At Every Size approach is best. When exercise is encouraged without a requirement for becoming a certain size or you're a "failure," people are more likely to stick with it. I'm not surprised that Richard was insecure about his appearance even after obtaining a desired degree of thinness. Being bullied sticks with you. I'm almost 60 years old now. I was badly bullied throughout my childhood and teen years. The idea of "loving" myself is so foreign that I can't wrap my head around it any more than I can wrap my head around advanced calculus problems. If things go wrong, I become relentlessly hostile towards myself. I can't stand pictures of myself. I'm a published author but will never display an author photo. I think I'm the ugliest thing in the world, and that will never change.
In the 80’S I worked for Richard’s club The Anatomy Asylum. He came in to visit several times and was always wonderful and kind. I got actually have a one on one with him that I will never forget. RIP Richard ❤
Good video, Jordan, and a nice tribute to Richard. I met him at an event 10 or 12 years ago and he was very nice. He let me take a pic despite the fact that "his people" were telling everybody no pictures. After asking him first (which most people probably didn't) he looked over at them to say it was ok. Rest in peace, Richard Simmons.
Pauly Shore does look similar to Richard in that short biopic he made about him. But no one can match Richard Simmons spirit so I agree he would have had to play himself. RIP Richard you brought joy and health to alot of people.

As always, great job of letting us know about Richard. I always enjoy your videos.
