I have wanted a B-3 since I was a wee lad. I grew up around aviation, my dad being an Army aviator and then airline pilot. I myself have been flying since age twelve, and now with only four years until I retire as an airline pilot, I think it's about time I finally got the jacket I've wanted all these years. Thanks for the review! I just ordered mine! :D
@@MK-px3re YES!! I got it just in time to wear it a bit before it warmed up this spring. Now that it is starting to cool down again, I've been wearing it once more. It is amazing, and totally worth it! It will take some more wearing to break it in, as it is still a bit stiff, but I do love it, and I get alot of comments on it. : )
I bought a D-1 and honestly for the price it’s as good as an Eastman or Real McCoy. I’ve had a B-6 from Eastman and a D-1 from Real McCoy made in NZ before they moved their factory back to Japan. The quality, stitching and the use of horse hide for the binding is more accurate. I love it because I can layer it where I find the B-3 the shearing is much thicker and very warm. The D-1 is the perfect no nonsense jacket. They were mainly ground crew jackets but the pilots wore them over top of their A-2s as not as bulky as a B-3. Awesome jacket for a 1/3 of the price. Mine was made in China and was ready and shipped quickly. The Chinese are making some great reproductions to compete with the Japanese at a lower price point. Quality is excellent. I’d buy another in a second. Avi is great and very good customer service to boot. I feel like a paid reviewer but I’m not. I also like it because it’s not as flashy and the collar is not so huge. Before you buy a B-3 look at the D-1.
@@ReflectedSimulationsI normally wear a medium or size 40 jacket if they run true. I don't remember my chest size right off, I think I have it in my notes on my other phone but I'm curious, do you normally wear a medium or size 40 jacket?
Legit thought you were Rosie from Masters of the Air for a second haha. Great review. I'm seriously impressed by this jacket. Made to such a high standard and more faithful to the original B-3 yet so much more affordable than many of the other options
I have an Eastman B3 and it is a great jacket, amazing quality, and yes pricey. Avi Leather I'm not familiar with, but now I have to check it out. Nice review.
Back then they were mass-, factory made products. They had to make thousands of them in the shortest period of time. If there were any tiny blemishes or stitching errors that had to be redone leaving scarring, nobody cared. These jackets should be of the highest quality, starting by using only the best pieces of leather, without scarring or blemishes, with the pieces matched to each other that they all have the same finish and texture, because leather is a live produce and can have great variations in quality and texture, even from the same breeds of animal.

i doubt they pay more than a few dollar for the workers who actually make the jackets in pakistan. employ people in denmark and pay decent salary for the work.
@@40pike96 it’s made in China not Pakistan, and sure, employ people in Denmark and sell it for double the price because of the increased costs. You can’t assume the workers are paid an unfair wage, the stitching and the worksmanship doesn’t feel like a ‘sweatshop job’
Mate, I am in search for shearling jacket for last 3 months. Just saw your video and came to know that these are made in Pakistan. Well I am from Pakistan. Can you please tell me an address or some contact number where they made them in Pakistan so that I can get them. Thanks.
That’s not a lot. Look at the alternatives. It’s a quality piece and will last. If you want cheap there’s lots out there but for the price you’re not going to find better.

Yeah the D-1 is a very practical jacket, and AVI did a great job on it.
I’ve had my eye on this jacket from AVI! Was hoping someone would do a review, so thank you! Looks great and much cheaper than say an Eastman or aero
Yes, really great value for the price.

That's a great looking Jacket, Reflected! Very nice!
Thanks :)
And again this is one awesome Channel with them leather jackets❤👍🏻🌹🌹
Awesome jacket! I want an A-1 early 1930s style too.
Those are really nice too. But I think the buttons are too fiddly, I prefer zippers
@@ReflectedSimulationsI know what you mean about the buttons being a pain but I'd like to add an A-1 to my collection just for the nostalgia of it.

Did bomber crews during WW2 spend $600 on their jackets, or are they just more rare now?
I think they earned theirs :) they were issued

Some were, yes. The RoughWear contracts. But there were many others too.
You mentioned that the jacket is a size 42. I'm wondering what is the height and weight & chest size of the guy wearing it ? Many thanks in advance.
