Brings back memories. Sore left leg at the end of a day with the number of clutch depressions with a David Brown tractor with the same make of buck-rake. I would be 15 years old, and a MF 1200 was hauling trailers
I can imagine Rob! Certainly clutches didn’t have a light action back in those days so you definitely won’t forget those good times! Many thanks for the watch and your great comment. Cheers David
Yes I can imagine so! A few aches and pains at the end of the day but the operator told me many years ago he used to use the DB 990 parked at the bottom of the shed to buckrake with so the 399 must feel like luxury compared to the DB. Many thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Always appreciated, cheers David
Thanks Andrew. I’m always trying to get into different positions in the field/ pit just to keep it interesting so pleased you appreciated that. Yes still quite a few farms in Cumbria making silage this way, been out at a couple these last couple of days so once edited I’ll be posting them. Thanks for the kind words, cheers David
Thanks Danny. Great to hear from a man familiar with operating a 399 on a pit, I’d take a bet it’s not that easy. Yes he was making a fine job in there, I could have watched him all day! Thanks for your great comment, pleased you enjoyed the video. Cheers, David
Until you have driven a 399 you will never believe what they are capable of, we have one with the heavy duty front axle, very underrated tractor they are. You have some fine looking tractors in your fleet, nice video showing them working.
They are indeed a fine tractor and there are still quite a few operating in North Cumbria including a turbocharged one that could pull a house down! I’m really pleased you enjoyed watching them working (unfortunately they’re not mine) and thanks for taking the time to comment, always appreciated. Cheers, David
As could I Jack. It’s a belter of a tractor and I have loads more footage that I hope to post in the future. Thanks again for watching and your comment, very much appreciated. Cheers David.
@@davidwinthrop7077 just can’t beat a 300 series massey. My grandad had a 362 with a turbo putting it at 70hp. Was sold unfortunately a couple years ago, but can still remember the lovely sound that came off it when starting it up in a shed.
@@jackfrench7240 I can just imagine that sound in my head Jack. Massey 362 is a cracking tractor, even better with a turbo bolted on it. If I could have my dream tractor it would be a two-wheel-drive 398, if only I could find one!
@@jackfrench7240 Yes still a few 390/390T and 362 models around here Jack, the farm with this 399 have two 2wd 390s ( filmed them before if you want to look back on my old videos to see them) but as you say hardly any 398s though I know of one that I haven’t had the chance to film yet.
Superb Capture and editing David, the 399 looks mint and the trailed chopper looks nearly new, can you still by one of any type in this country, all the other machinary looks well looked after, i videod a 399 turbo again the other day, not as steep as last year yet, cheers Steve . 🚜🎥👍
Cheers Steve. I think Kongskilde is the only manufacturer of trailed choppers now, such a pity as I think there would be more about if there was a choice. Yes get your turboed 399 posted and reach your target of 1K subs, you deserve too. Cheers, David
I have thought about getting a drone but seen as I spent a small fortune on a new Nikon DSLR camera and lens this year it’ll have to wait until I’ve saved up again. Really pleased you enjoyed the video, that makes me happy too. Cheers, David
Lovely tractor stacking the grass but jesus with the 18 speed transmission it would be a long day, great for feild work but terrible on a loader or this type work
Hi Glen. Your right about about the speedshift transmission, it’s not the best for close quarter work and the owners have said they’d like a 12/12 shuttle for this work but having said that the operator is doing a fine job here. Thanks for watching and your comment, cheers David

Lovely Fleet of masseys
They are Kevin. Very well looked after
Great vid that’s nice little Massey there you have. Keep up good work!
Many thanks, I’m pleased you enjoyed the video. Cheers, David
Lovely video. Some fine looking gear. Grass looks well. He is doing a good job on the buckrake. Very tiring looking over the shoulder all day

Cracking setup 👌🏻
It certainly is Matthew and it was a pleasure to film them at work. Cheers, David.
An all Massey setup, brilliantly caught David, lovely to see!
Many thanks Jacob, it was a lovely fleet in lovely weather to film.
Great video, lovely camera work. Nice to see the more traditional methods of silage making still in use.

Lovely silage outfit ❤️❤️
It certainly is Declan. Pleased you enjoyed it, cheers David
Superb sir! Having spent an hour or three in a 399 on the pit I can say yer man made it look effortless - good skills!!

Classy Masseys
Hi Chris. Yes they’re very well looked after and do a great job. Thanks for watching, cheers David
Good kit and well set up what's not to like ❤
Thanks Paul and I’m pleased you liked what you seen! Cheers, David.
Great footage 👍
Thanks once again Andy. Cheers, David
Nice to see a trailed forager, David!
Isn’t it Alan. Still quite a few farmers using them up my neck of the woods.
Beautiful
Thank you. Regards, Dave

Awesome video 👍 you can't beat mf power 💪👌👍
Certainly can’t Anthony. Pleased you enjoyed it, cheers David
What's the black pillar on the drawbar front for, seen it on other modern trailed foragers?
Hi Nigel. I think it’s a brace for the spout when it’s folded down for transport/ storage.
Great video you should consider getting a drone as they make the video a lot better great camera work thoroughly enjoyed the vid

Would you consider selling the 399
Ah, afraid not Alvin. It’s too useful around the farm and considered part of the family. Never any harm in asking though. Cheers, David.
