    Nice demo, nice rabbit! I use these pencils with pastel pencils. The pastel pencils are a bit messy but they have a wide range of colours. The Derwent’s almost feel like a hard pastel. I quite like them for portrait drawings where I like to build colours slowly with lots of blending.

      Thank you, I haven't tried pastel pencils yet although I do have a half-decent second-hand set. I think the dust mess is what puts me off a little although I do like the vibrant colours.

    Gorgeous drawing. These blend so well with OMS.

      Thanks so much, yes I've seen a lot of people use them that way, I don't use OMS.

      @@brusheswithbec Obviously OMS is not a necessity for a good result. Still trying to figure these out, but man do these blend well.

    Glad I found this video. I'm returning to using colour pencils after quite a period away from them. I used to use Karismacolor (no longer produced), but I do have a few Derwent Drawing colour pencils. So was good to see a review of a bigger range of colours. Nice work, thanks for sharing.

    Cute rabbit I gave those pencils away due to the horrible wax bloom issues. The Lightfast ones have many similar colors and are oil base. I don’t use Mi tientes because I use OMS so I just apply art spectrum pastel primer (clear) on hot pressed wc paper. I have found that my under layer can even be watercolor then when dry I can carefully add the primer and really save the pencils. Pastelmat is lovely too. Take care

      Thank you, I haven't had much issue with wax bloom with these pencils at all, I love using them.

    You're a great artist!!
    I would like to know how long does it take to produce this wonderful piece. And, by the way, which sharpener did you use?
    Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!!!

      Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. This one took me probably 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours. The sharpener I use is the Prismacolor Premier cannister sharpener, it has two different holes for sharpening both long or blunt points.

    Hello Can you please tell me that is the Derwent lightfast colors better or the Derwent drawing pencils?😊

    • @brusheswithbec
      @brusheswithbec  Рік тому +1

      Derwent lightfast has a much larger colour range. Drawing penicls only come in 24. Both are very nice to use and very waxy, they feel very similar to use. I wouldn't say either is better, but there are some colours in the Drawing range that aren't in the lightfast range.

      @@brusheswithbec okie 😊 Thanks a lot but I wanted to ask that I am going to buy the 12 color pencils set but I don't know which one to buy (light fast or the drawing pencils) .

    the problem is that these natural colours are totally insufficient even for a single animal portrait in its environment. you can hardly reproduce the colour of a cat yellow eyes or a owl eyes. They are meant for just reproducing some furs OR for remapping true colours into a muted version. I own this set because I was enthusiast of their peculiar muted autumnal colours but at the end if they don't add some vivid key colours are useless to me. I don't want to use two sets of pencils with different binders as many do for integrating the missing colours of this
