Thank you for this video. It came up on my feed. I'm from Guernsey but now live in Cyprus. I loved your appreciation of this beautiful place. There is so much more for you to explore. The history is amazing for such a small place. And the Guernsey people are unique. They love their island. A very friendly lot! 😊
We are probably all guilty of not noticing how lucky we are living somewhere. I know I should spend more time exploring closer to home as well! Thanks for watching
Fantastic representation of our beautiful island Alex, but there is so much more to the Bailiwick of Guernsey as we have idyllic other islands too, like Herm, with no cars or even bikes. The amazing Sark, again no cars but tractors, bikes and horse-drawn carriages (a real step back in time). Also the tiny island of Lihou, which is only accessible at low tide via a causeway. Alderney too with stunning natural beauty. Please come back soon to be amazed? 👍💖😎
Alex Outhwaite thank you, we are rightfully proud of our ‘Sarnia Cherie’ Gem of the Sea (Sarnia is the old Latin name) Our unofficial national anthem: Sarnia; dear Homeland, Gem of the sea. Island of beauty, my heart longs for thee. Thy voice calls me ever, in waking, or sleep, Till my soul cries with anguish, my eyes ache to weep. In fancy I see thee, again as of yore, Thy verdure clad hills and thy wave beaten shore. Thy rock sheltered bays, ah; of all thou art best, I'm returning to greet thee, dear island of rest. CHORUS Sarnia Cherie. Gem of the sea. Home of my childhood, my heart longs for thee. Thy voice calls me ever, forget thee I'll never, Island of beauty. Sarnia Cherie. I left thee in anger, I knew not thy worth. Journeyed afar, to the ends of the earth. Was told of far countries, the heav'n of the bold, Where the soil gave up diamonds, silver and gold. The sun always shone, and "race" took no part, But thy cry always reached me, its pain wrenched my heart. So I'm coming home, thou of all art the best. Returning to greet thee, dear island of rest. CHORUS
Was on Herm a few weeks ago. Have to say the cliff walks yield some of the most gorgeous views I've seen. And beaches stunning. Have visited Sark too. You are so lucky to live on Guernsey Nigel.

Great little video, thankyou for this. So many people even in the UK have never heard of Guernsey which is sad. I was born here and have lived here all my life. Tikendra Singh ok, since you are not from Guernsey , living accommodation will cost quite a lot so you need to sort out that, I would suggest looking for a place near st Peters Port because that is where the majority of jobs are. What I would recommend is going on Job Centre-States of Guernsey to see openings once this whole quarantine thing is sorted out because most businesses are closed currently. Once quarantine is over and you have found something, book a holiday cottage or air B and B (sorry if I spelt it wrong ) and stay there for the interviews. It won't matter where your staying, because everything on the island is a 30 minute drive maximum. You can easily take the bus which is cheap or hire a rental car from the airport. If you wanted to stay in a holiday cottage, you would have to book quite far in advance because the fill up quick but there are always plenty of air B and B available. Once you are there though, to make the most of your trip I recommend going on the beaches since they are always quiet and great for rock pooling, Aladins Cave if you want to buy something (it's the biggest shop in Guernsey) and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants, especially in St Peters Port. I hope this helped and good luck 🙂
My whole family on my mums side including my mum come from here and I visit it so much and know so many people there that it's practically a second home. Restaurant recommendation is Crabby Jacks. @@El_Smeghead Yep, was on plenty where the busses had to do the same. I must say the bus drivers were very friendly. There was only one that was stroppy. Had him a few times. Was quite amusing. Overall Guernsey folk seem friendlier than here in the UK.
The route 4 was on diversion here, so as a passenger I filmed the route it took. At 14secs in you can see a car mounting pavement, and some other tricky manoeuvres throughout the video. ua-cam.com/video/ucSGyxQkwmU/v-deo.html
Did you not how low the tide was? Thing is, we have such a fast tide that we always say you can tell who's a foreigner by the fact that they're halfway down the beach and bound to get their stuff washed away.

Yep, was on plenty where the busses had to do the same.

I wasn't sunbathing I was simply walking on the beach!
