Gary was (is), not only an incredible exponent of, but also one of the greatest ambassadors of the Blues. Although many associate him with Rock, fusion, and even hard rock (understandably, given his amazing speed and dexterity). But Gary was a massive fan, and student of blues, from the Mississippi delta, through to Chicago, Texas, and the British Invasion, Gary was all over it. And he absorbed every nuance, and variation, of each and every representation of blues music. Definitely one of my greatest influences, and I know that I’m far from being alone in this regard. I miss him every day.
Spencer Hodgkins Yeah, that song is very nice. Somehow I completely missed his slide work and I like it better than Johnny Winter. Gary Moore just had an unparalleled mastery of guitar that never ceases to amaze me.
PlayerX after watching this video , I went and got a super cheap les Paul with super hot pick ups and a nut riser , tended it to open E and have Been driving my neighbors crazy . Gary is and always be the man
Ya i was suprised myself never ever heard him play slide before And amazing as it is...it is kinda weird when a white irish guy sings a blues cla ssic, but hey, hes gary moore and im some fuckin guy living in my moms basement lol
Just a note here No pun intended Robert Johnson originally wrote Dust my broome Elmore James had to change the title to Dust my blues for copyright reasons This information of course has been given to me by an old guitar instructor
It seems like every song I listen to, I stumble across an incredible Gary Moore live version. He never ceases to amaze me. Its so fortunate to have these recordings, and I'm sure most of his shows weren't recorded?
Quite a lot of his shows were recorded... probably more than by some other acts. This channel is chock full of them: www.youtube.com/@OvidiuBuzduganRomcea
I was lucky enough to see him a few times in the early 80s warming up for other acts on arena tours... I had no idea of his history then but always loved his playing.
Joe Lakewood Gary will never die because he's to close to too many hearts including yours I reckon Robert Johnson is listening to Gary's version and saying that's a great way to play
lucky56ification What a sensational comment lucky Gary and Rory cranking this song and giving it 110 per cent as both these guitarists did RIP you two gods
The thing about Gary Moore's version of Dust My Broom is that he takes the tempo a bit slower than most versions, and then proceeds to burn the house down.
Gary Moore's tempo is much truer to the score. Check out the gold standard which is Elmore James version. Most rockers overplay and rush this classic number.
Very well put Velocitormator, this is just an awesome version of an all time classic for me only Elmore James's original compares with it. and that is saying something. .
Was wondering how hard it would be for Gary to pull this off and at 4:35 he nearly proved me right but in the end a faithful rendition - many thanks RIP Gary. Lovely touch at the end bringing on Peter Green. Lump in the throat time...
doktorfeelgood No doubt that p90s sound badass and Leslie West was awesome but... that is clearly a cream and black bobbin humbucker of some type in that guitar. I think around the 4:35 mark you can get a clear shot of it. Take care!
5:40 ... "Thank you very much, this man here is Peter Green" ... pure respect, played his back side off because his mentor was in the wing. Great work, miss you Gary
Shame he didn't try to see if Peter would play something with him & let him strap ole Grennie on after so many years. Two legends we will miss forever . To see them play anything together would have just been the icing on the cake for the audience & us to hear & see the vid if we weren't there .
So lucky to have seen Gary when he was briefly a member of Thin Lizzy back in early '74. The Greyhound in Fulham Palace Road was then place to see some wonderful bands in those days, proper up close and personal! Is it still a music pub, or even more to the point, does it still exist>
I am feeling one sensational vibe here this is class.I love Elmore James's original but damn this is so good that I am having trouble saying which I prefer. I love them both I guess.

GOtta love when Gary plays the blues, he is a unique guitar playing talent!! The fact that he doesn’t get his due is amazing. RIP Gary!
I'm a Gary Moore fan and I'd never heard him play slide. That's one of my favorite songs. Superbly performed. What a good surprise that was. I cried

AmDsus2Fmaj7Am listen to "showbiz blues" from the "Blues for Greeny" album, one of my favourite slide tunes, just Gary Moore and his guitar.

That's a really stupid comment considering Gary could play slide as good as if not better than Elmore at half Elmore's age
@@AxemanDeth What the fuck did Elmore James have to do with his playing genius??????
Nothing but the blues. Nothing but Dust My Broom. Thank you mister Elmore James.

another great performance of a great song and singer, guitist.
Great version of the classic...
Just heard him play this classic now. Wow, what a slide show!!
Great player, and a phenomenal voice. I met a very nice Irish dude on a trip to Morocko who pronounced his name Moeoer (möör).
its supposed to be that way. No need to church it up. Its all about emotion and feeling. "The blues is easy to play, but hard to feel" Jimi Hendrix
Best version ever! Decimates all others!
Speaking about kick some ass, he was the man! RIP Gary and thanks for the musical legacy!
this is for me the best performed and best rock and roll track played by anyone ever.
