Dude, I hit "Like" based on just the thumbnail! Those look so good! My wife is from the RGV and still has family down there. We go at least once a year.
Enjoyed learning about Brownsville in this story time format! Lived in Austin most my life but have only driven through the RGV on way to South Padre. Tacos look bomb and a recipe would be great!
I’m working in Brownsville right now and the food here is amazing. I’m from El Paso and it’s crazy to see how similar yet vastly different tacos are here
Absolutely loves this video. Your filming style, your storytelling and the food were all so on point. I’m actually a vegan but still love to watch someone take time and enjoy the process of making something simple, but doing it well. Thanks Matt!
I feel like it’s getting harder and harder to find good authentic Mexican food in Texas like I grew up eating. Very grateful the coworkers I’ve worked with over the years for teaching me the ways.
3:29. Does anyone know what blender he's using here? I need a small blender to go with my Vitamix. The Vitamix is terrible when making small batches of things.
Florida has pretty authentic tacos believe it or not. Just not on the beaches. You have to go inland by all the farms there’s lots of predominantly Hispanic towns with great authentic food. Ruskin, Plant City, Wimauma etc.
I'm from HTX and have been living in VA for a while now. I make something similar that I've been calling carne asada. Btw I'm no longer allowed to buy salsa verde ever since I made them like that or on my Weber lol
I would Love to try this but Im vegetarian, I know that substituting the beef would make it not the same think but what can I substitute it for to at least try a close to approximation of the tocos? Impossible meat? soy? black beans I have no idea.
I know exactly what you mean. My family lives in Harlingen and Mission, although I live in Dallas now, I enjoy the food when I visit the Valley on both sides of the border. When I start seeing palm trees on my trip, I know it won’t be long before I am eating delicious food. And I definitely agree about the misconception that California has the best Mexican food.
Use good salsas for you tacos, like a salsa macha, salsa molcajete, salsa taquera de aguacate, There’s endless versions of green and red. We also have oil based sauces that are fire.
I love how this guy tells a story WHILE showing us a recipe to a dish
I hope Judy doesn’t see this because our ground beef tacos are gonna look sad compared to these! 🌮

Brownsville has been on the best places to retire lists. I've been thinking about retiring on the Texas coast.

I really enjoyed your story time! Those taquitos look sabrosos!
I love flank steak tacos, soo tasty. I usually just make a pico and guac sauce to go with it so I’ll have to try this out
Would love to see a long-form video tutorial on how to make these
You need to do a hometown food tour video 👌🏼
I'm from McAllen, and you described the food from the RGV so accurately 😂
The way this guy talks is just so real
Yummy!!! Thanks for the recipe!
There is no Recipe

Houston here, the only way we can get these authentic tacos is Taco truck, but soooo WORTHY! 🤤
Awesome thanks 👍
El Pato or Taco P? Which do you prefer?
Recipes, not on discord. Just trying to get you on.

Ah, good ol' FoodTube - tho flank and skirt are bougie nowadays, sadly. Prime cuts and great technqiue, as per always
