Another thing to consider, in regards to her writing the script for the play, is that she's the author of a weekly popular manga. She would need to take some time away from her main work just to write a script which could adversely affect the popularity of her manga. Not to mention that writing/drawing a manga is worlds apart from writing a screenplay or book.
Somehow I think she already see this coming and already working on the script

One of the essential episodes of this season. Highlights the exact process that comes with the line of work and the reality of why many manga/anime adaptations get cancelled and/or reworked entirely. It's not just a "Studio" or "Brand" issue. People legit lose jobs, get replaced, and have to figure out what to do to actually survive behind the scene. Shoutout to Goa because from a editorial/writer's standpoint, it must have been the cruelest thing to happen, all because the levels of communication that happens outside his control. This is pure anime industry education at its finest!

It's Season 2, but they just start it off as Episode 12 just to let people know it's a continuation.
I legitimately love the critique of the industry in this show. I can see how Abiko and GOA both had reasons to be upset.
So this is the experience aka-sensei(author of kaguya-sama/Oshi no ko) felt when doing the Kaguya-sama live action adaptation.... it's not good
Some people think the answer is simple by just let the author and screen writer work together but it's not that simple. although a good example of it is Oda-sensei and his One Piece live adaptation, i don't know what they did but they did it make it work but in mostly normal cases their are a lot of back and forth and influence to make a story adaptation. Like the author can't supervise because of another country. time zones, schedules, Ego script writers/producers(The Witcher series) Sponsors or high up management influences , etc. it's already difficult already and if i remember correctly that is normal to have multiple script writers. well anyway it's a good glimpse on what the industry is.
I felt the hate towards Kaguya sama live action is overblown. It just a typical highschool romcom. I watched the movie with my wife before I watched the anime and it makes me such a fan to the original work. However, I do agree the anime/manga is miles better than the movie
although abiko's anger is completely justified, i also feel bad for GOA cuz it's honestly not his fault that shit ended up like this. that's why communication matters so much in a big, resource-intensive project like this
abiko and GOA definitely should've been in direct contact from the get-go, maybe none of this wouldve blown up the way it did.
Remember when long series had so much seasons without breaks, the episodes didnt resets the numbers of episodes, they are doing it here

I would like to remind you that it was mentioned before that even in the original material the character whose personality they changed has little appearance, so it's not like they picked it up the protagonist simply changes his personality, or someone like the example you used, Gojo, who is highly relevant and appears a lot during the jujutsu work.
Funny how all of this could've been solved if they just let Abiko talk to GOA directly

Honestly this whole situation could have been resolved if the author and the script writer were in contact with each other. Like I feel like from the get go they should have had a meeting. I blame also the production from lalaland ´cause in a way it’s kind of how they want the characters to be portrayed.
Actually, that has its problems too and it's not just lalai's people who caused the problems, it didn't help that the mangaka didn't have enough social skills to clearly indicate what she wanted resolved. Communication is difficult.

The director and author sadly don't talk to one another due to all the middle man passing down. Also the Script writer gets the bad end of the stick... if the play does good... author gets credit. If it does bad, the script writer gets the blame.
