I remember this coming out. Everyone watched it to laugh at it’s ridiculously cheap production quality. Everyone stayed because it was actually incredibly good.
I'm still heartbroken at what Kadokawa did to the staff kemono friends and 'seasons 2 and 3'.
I felt like it was even more, a bold undertaking in style. Just look at all the 3DCG anime these days. Kemono Friends didn't invent the method, but it did a lot to popularize it.
the show got a lot of points for originality and feel. the voice talent was A+
It’s almost like a shows animation doesn’t exactly make a show automatically bad, but rather the story itself that does.

This is actually one of the best animes I've ever seen. The amount of character developpement in this show is amazing, and every character is so fun to watch. My older brother recommended me this show and it changed my life... Thank you Kemono Friends

It started out as "Lets laugh at this funny meme of a show that's so bad its hilarious." and transitioned into pure genuine enjoyment. I have yet to find in any other anime that could hold a candle to the experience Kemono Friends has given me.

Seeing it jump from 4 to almost 8 on MAL the day the last episode dropped was glorious. I started watching it out of pity but fell in love with it because of how cute, wholesome, mysterious and calming it is. The story of its creation made me like it even more, triumph of effort and creativity. Too bad it was brought down by corporate greed and idiots in higher up positions. Season 2 from the original team would be great.
I completely agree with you my friend, the other season has what? Better animation? Yeah pretty cool, but it feels... Empty.. Feels like all the wholesome stuff in season 2 is forced. The first season, despite not having the best animation because of the low budget, was made with LOVE. Every single aspect of it. The animation, the voice acting, the storyline, the foreshadowing of a pretty dark backstory, etc.. Despite the low budget the people who worked on it were determined to make a great show with little no budget. And what have corporations done? They fired the head animator and caused a lot of drama. The true magic of this show, what made it so good and enjoyable to watch, was the fact that you could actually feel how much love the staff had put in it. Also there's another show made by the same animator and also has a pretty sick opening song, it's Kemurikusa, I highly recommend it if you enjoyed Kemono Friends. It's a little dark but not much, It's another show made with love, and you can feel it in the opening and the show itself.
@@cheddarusthegodofcheese287 yeah. Season 1 felt like a true passion project. I’ve been debating on watching season 2 or not since I feel deprived of Kemono content and I need more, but I also know it’s not going to be the same experience as watching season 1 :(
@@cheddarusthegodofcheese287 From what I've heard (can't confirm cuz I never watched it myself), season 2 outright tries to undo or undermine just about everything good that happened in season 1. It sounds outright SPITEFUL. To this day, I just can't understand what was going through Kadokawa's head when they decided to ditch Tatsuki, and continued digging their hole with every move afterwards.

@@phlaryx7145season 2 isn't awful if you go into it decoding it isn't canon lol. There's quite a few fun scenes and characters and I do enjoy the conflict that's brought in with the wild friend. Just pretend it's an alternative universe or smthing
Despite of the extreme low budget and small staff this anime is a masterpiece
This shows that animators having a low budget doesn’t mean that the show won’t be good because the concept and designs are iconic and amazing! Disney, Cartoon Network and High Guardian Spice should take notes on this.

A great second season that will never be, shame. Makes you wonder what would the studio had in mind for Kaban and Serval's Friendilicious quest.
damn right, we were expecting a real sequel but suddenly time flies and she doesn't give a damn about humans, has almost no reaction to the only other human and kyururu is just..not that likable to me. There's a charm of innocence and the build up was just right. Easing to 2nd season with 'some' of that innocence would make the show consistent as its a show meant to educate people about animals, more so than an 'action' and..whatever 'adventure/journey' they tried to do in S2.
@@drakke125Channel That irritated me quite a bit. Kaban didn't freak out at all at finally finding a true human. Despite some things I did like in S2, it is far outweighed by how mean-spirited it felt towards the end.

Just saw season one for the first time. I was so impressed that despite the obviously low production quality, they managed to make such a charming show with a decent story and character development.

They hired a cheap studio to do the series, and they couldn't finish animating the wheels, though it's fixed later on. Funny how it seemed like a throwaway series by the corporation, and ended up being an enormous success, because the studio a lot with what few they had.

I feel like most of you are not a fan of season 2 for the wrong reasons. Kemono Friends S1 was so charming and atmospherical due to the hard work put in by the director Tatsuki. He was fired by Kadokawa, because they wanted Kemono Friends to be a future proofed IP (Intellectual Property) that would make them money for years to come like Pokemon, but all the fans knew the series became successful thanks to Tatsuki's dedication. tl;dr he was in their way, so they got rid of him.
Tatsuki and his studio of 9 other people, made Season 1 on a shoestring budget, because Kadokawa had already given up on Kemono Friends. (The mobile app for Kemono Friends had just ended services around the same time, and they were cutting their losses)
The new director for Kemono Friends Season 2 were given Kadokawa's full backing, full money, everything. And it somehow turned out worse. It didn't have any of the melancholic mood settings, or the feeling of mystique that Season 1 had.
