I love Riley Sager books because he always has paranormal elements and sometimes it ends up with a paranormal conclusion and sometimes its a red herring. I find that makes it more exciting because you aren't sure what is going to happen.
You’ve had Esme so long, I think it would be way too upsetting for her to have to leave us now. Tell her “previous” owner that they can visit anytime of course but she’s a cat of UA-cam now and simply can’t go back to anonymity. We love her too much.
I know how you feel about avoiding a book because while you know you'll probably like it, you're not ready for it. I feel that way about a bunch of books but if it helps whatsoever, I gave Hamnet a 4.5 ⭐ and it was a surprising love of mine from 2022. I think when you can eventually read it, you'll love it but don't push yourself. I'm such a mood reader and pushing through that feeling puts me into the biggest slump also, Esme is soooo cute 🥰 also also, every Riley Sager book I've ever read has been 3.75 ⭐ or less. I just don't think his writing is made for me either
genuinely one of my fav vlogs of yours!! Riley Sager is one of those authors that has such intriguing blurbs that just don’t deliver, I felt that way about his book Final Girls too :/
6:26 !!! same !!! i LOVE a book that showcases the intricacies in interpersonal relationships. i think an author who can capture more than just their own experience is SO talented
Esme!!! My cats would frantically eat the treat and then start in on the books if I were to do this. Living vicariously through you in this video. Also would LOVE a run down of the thrillers you would recommend. As a Northern Hemisphere girlie we're getting into fall/winter and that's when the thriller mood reading begins.
Okay I’ll be sure to include this in a future video but highly recommend the Cormac Reilly series by Dervla Mctiernan, it’s much more crime than thriller but so goooooood
Was in the middle of painting my room (have been doing for about 5hrs straight) and then I see your notif 🥹 Great video as always Harriet!! You inspire/encourage me to read too! Current read is The Best Friend on my Kindle (it’s great so far! It’s giving The Gift movie vibes lol). Though, I may invest in a physical Kindle rather than reading it on my iPhone!!
Sweet Esme 🥰 Anytime I see someone cry from a book I have to read it. I’m with you on the reading for feelings vibe & romance with deeper subplots is actually my downfall…so I’m gonna go read The Dead Romantics
Yaaay Esme 🐈 I’m so so glad she picked Lock Every Door - I’ve been debating getting it because I didn’t hear much about it, but your reviews always come at the perfect time! 🙌🏼 so now I’ll get The Dead Romantics instead lol
Esme is a star!!😻 The Dead Romantics is one of my favourite books!! So glad that you liked it! I plan on reading Home Before Dark by Riley Sager next month............I hope it's good. 😬
awww Esme's such a cutie!! I've never read any Riley Sager, but I've got Last Time I Lied and I've been meaning to read it for ages! The only thing putting me off is that I really don't like gory things and I'm not sure if his books are gory or just creepy!
If you’d like some fantasy with minimal to no romance, can highly recommend The Will of the Many by James Islington, The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, and Ascendant by Michael R Miller. The Will of the Many is like pseudo-Roman with a complex and interesting magic system & lots of politics/plotting. The Way of Kings probably needs no intro? Pretty big in the fantasy space definitely really unique world & magic etc. there was def a point in the middle I had to push through - but really picks up at the end (it took me like 5 months to finish bc I did stop reading it in the middle, but I’m glad I went back). And Ascendant is awesome - think dragon riders, but not like fourth wing in that there’s no academy or romance, it’s somewhat like Eragon, but no elves or dwarves, but it is truly its own world, unique magic, and attaching characters. Also dragons kick ass.
I saw that the ebook for The Dead Romantics was on sale and just bought it. Cause I'm much like you, I think - I read for the characters and to have all the feels. 😅 (I also think I maybe read The Rule Book for a foreign publishet who was considering buying the publishing rights.... 🤔)
I read Riley Sager’s The House Across the Lake. Like you with Lock Every Door, I ate that book up, couldn’t put it down and was having a thoroughly spooky and enjoyable time. Then came the ending. Sigh, the ending was just stupid. I’ve never picked up another book of his.
I love you having Esme choose your books! She is so beautiful and seems so sweet. I love when she talks to you. I hope you do it again sometime.
I’ll do another one soon 🥰🥰🥰
Wahh, the intro was so cute🤭💕
Hehehe she’s a STAR

yess totally! i can see why people love him, i just think i prefer more realistic thrillers!

Your hair and makeup looks really nice in the video! 🫶 also I agree I’m an Aussie girl and yet I hate it whenever books are set in Australia ☠️

I loved the dead romantics. It’s the only book I have read by Ashley Poston. She seems like such a good author xx
It’s so good!! You should read the seven year slip!
