    I was having a terrible time with my bobbin winder last night. I watched a couple of videos and still no luck. I found your video this morning and put my thread through the tension discs as you recommended and problem solved! Thank you so much!

      Thank you for the feedback Lynn! It's great to know that you have your bobbinwinder sorted. It's the key to getting good tension.

    Liz, so many thanks for your excellent video! Solved not only our problems with the bobbin winder (coning and inconsistent sponginess), but also with the breaking/frazzling of upper thread near the needle.
    Your comments on risks of filling more than 80% were very clear and revealing. Being the inquisitive guy that I am, they lead me to find that 1) the flanges of the our generic aluminum "M"-style bobbins are inwardly thicker ... which slightly reduces the amount thread that gets spooled and 2) the black plastic housing of the Bobbin Stop Sensor was rubbing against the bobbin causing erratic/inconsistent bobbin speed and 3) the black plastic of the Bobbin Stop Sensor was rubbing against the outer diameter of the bobbin flange causing erratic/inconsistent bobbin speed. I removed the offending interference locations from the Bobbin Stop Sensor housing with files and a Dremel tool.

      It's great to know it was useful. I'm glad you were able to resolve the other issues too. Dremels are very useful!

    This is a great video, Liz. You were very thorough. I even appreciate your waiting for the bobbin to wind completely. However, while you mentioned a mushy bobbin, you did not actually explain what to do if it IS mushy. I am watching this today because I have discovered that my bobbins have - apparently - been winding very mushy for some time!! I really cannot believe that I have not had tension issues! I'm assuming I need to tighten the little knob on front, and that is what I will try. Thank you!

      Hi Jodi - Many thanks for the positive comments. If you expand the comments /description for the video you'll see I cover how to rewind a mushy bobbin on a Facebook Live - the link is in the text. I hope this helps.

    Great video. I was having tension issues, and winding the thread the around the disc tension worked great. I was having trouble with it slipping when I did it the other way. Thanks.

    When you hand wind those few turns on the bobbin and you put it on the spindle, does the thread wind from the top or from the bottom of the bobbin?

    • @PinholeQuilting
      @PinholeQuilting  3 роки тому

      The thread winds clockwise on the bobbin, so coming from the right, the thread goes under the bottom of the bobbin first.
