    Thank you so much. I don’t have the Handi-Quilter long arm but I do have the Tiara III sit down long arm machine, I am just learning how to use it and found these videos so helpful when there is a problem. I was stitching just fine the other day, the tension was perfect when all of a sudden it started stitching very tightly, pulling and bunching the fabric as I stitched. Then I noticed the thread had come off the antenna that sits at the top of the machine where I first place the thread from the spool to thread it . Fixed it problem didn’t correct itself. After a very long time spent threading and rethreading, tension adjustments, checking the bobbin for lint, etc, I gave up. Today I pulled up this video I have watched before--I placed the bobbin in the case wrong! I even had gone as far as getting a new bobbin case, which arrived today, so I laughed at myself when this video talks about getting a new bobbin case! I didn’t need one, but, yes, now I have an extra one which is just fine with me! And I didn’t know what that piece in the bobbin case was called until today! I thought I bent it from when the fabric was pulling so much, as it was raised up some in the case. It seems to be ok though, so i guess I don’t need to worry about it. Thank you for sharing all this good information for the Handi-Quilter as it is helping learn about my machine as well!

    Thank you! I have the Tiara III sit down long arm and use that same bobbin winder. Was having trouble with it winding more on one side than the other, this video helps me immensely! Also I have trouble with putting the oil in, I can’t see what I’m doing because it is located under the table that came with the machine so more than a drop of oil goes in. You answered my question when you said it was ok to wipe out the excess. That’s what I have to do. How often should I oil the racer in the bobbin area? Thank you for sharing all those tips.

      Handi Quilter recommends oiling with each bobbin change or if the machine has been sitting for a couple days.

    I would like to reiterate the bobbin spring can use some more discussion.
    It took me almost three years to find someone else complaining about the issue I was experiencing with tension. It was in a discussion board on a different manufacturer’s website.
    Please; though it may be less common, could you make a video discussing the spring housed inside the bobbin case that HQ encourages us to leave in even with prewound bobbins?
    * Where should the top of the bobbin be in relation to the bobbin case?
    *What happens if the spring is adjusted to high/low and your bobbin doesn’t sit where it should within the bobbin case?
    * Can the spring be adjusted and if so how?
    This was an issue I had with two brand new bobbin cases, one that came with my brand new Amara and the second I purchased directly through HQ website in an attempt to cure the issue.
    Please know that I am not stating this to be a negative but to help others that might experience a tension issue that isn’t commonly discussed, and if it’s a singular topic it will help others to find the solution much faster than sorting through information that they already tried and failed with. I almost returned my Amara and returned to quilting on my domestic machine. But I have corrected a very simple and easily overlooked issue and she quilts like a champ!

      I recently purchased the king quilter 2. I have been quilting about a month now. I am having so many tension issues. Every time I change the bobbin I have tension issues. And like you, I have tried every suggestion.

    • @anitra7747
      @anitra7747 3 роки тому +1

      @@FarmHouseQuiltery yes. My tension issues were due to the spring in the bobbin case being adjusted too high so my bobbin sat too high in the case. Halfway through each bobbin the tension would change. Even the expert quilter from the dealer wasn’t able to figure it out. I actually used the Towa gauge to confirm the my tension was changing. I pulled entire bobbins through it and started with a perfect tension and by the end of the bobbin, the tension was so tight it wouldn’t even register on the gauge. I made then adjustment to the spring height and I have consistent stitching.

    • @anitra7747
      @anitra7747 3 роки тому

      @@emnnate1996 I can relate entirely to how frustrating it is. When your issues are less common it is more difficult to find the solution. And sometimes every path that has promise leads to disappointment. I can’t believe it took me almost three years to pin down. I saw on a messaging board I think it was APQS, someone was talking about removing the spring and replacing it with the magic gennie washer to solve their tension issues. So that put me onto the scent it could be my spring. I searched for information regarding bobbin springs specifically and that’s when I learned the spring needed adjusted from a singular video on UA-cam.
      You become a really good detective tracking down the perp that is tormenting your tension!
      I hope you find the solution soon.

    I think i need to order a whole new threadmast with pigtail. My pigtail broke the first year and the relacement sits half way up the mast and is not adjustable. I have to hold the thread while winding or it will jump out of the disks. I have three spongy (useless) bobbins for every good one. I hate winding bobbins!

    • @judyreid4716
      @judyreid4716 3 роки тому +1

      Instead of going from the pigtail over then under the tensioner (basically running the thread clockwise around the tension disc), I now go from the pigtail down under then over the tensioner (counter clockwise) to the bobbin. The thread never pops out that way. And I’ve just loosened the tension a bit to make up for the extra pull on the thread as it winds. Just what words for me.
