Found you from 'ETA Prime' Great videos on LiPo use and I also love you video on creating gaming system with LCD panel using the Panda.
Good video👍
i wasn't know that port for battery. Good the know. Thanks!
Sir can you tell how the battery charge after plug the connector in lattepanda
You have earned a subscribe grat video Can I use 4 batteries parallel with same setup at 10000mah each.
Thanks
I need your opinion on this please
Thank you for this! One question. My battery is not charging with power supply connected. Any ideas?
What does you set up look like?
Will the USB-C port from the LattePanda charge the LiPos when connected?
Cheers from Singapore!
rxyth yes, it will! 新年快乐!
Sorry, is it suitable for the Delta (v1) ?
i want to do this with morefine m6 but i can't figure out how to also charge the battery
What battery did you get your original 10 pin connector from?
eric hammer it was a Dell fp02g XPS 10 battery. It used to be on amazon for $20ish
Can you charge the lattepanda battery with the JST PH2.0 - 4p headers
Oeq06 no, unfortunately not!
Where can i buy this battery connector?plz do rply ..urgent
Great video!
Do you need to charge the batteries separately? They cannot be charged through the 10pin connectors right?
Plus can you add a link to the purchase of the batteries?
Thanks
tzionfly thanks for watching! Yes the 10 pin charges it when you plug your Pd adapter in.
tzionfly I bought mine from eBay but the seller I got my batteries from isn’t around. Something like this should work www.ebay.com/itm/3-7V-5000mAh-6060100-Polymer-Lithium-LiPo-Rechargeable-Battery-USA-STOCK/174019791023?hash=item28846348af:g:M28AAOSwjY5dcDbY
Hi, great info. Is it possible to build the batteries for Lattepanda V1.0, and connect them to the terminal block next to the USB port?
Julio Emen hi Julio, try something like this for v1.0 www.adafruit.com/product/2465
you mean you can't charge it from LP's TypeC charger port right?
I ordered some 10k ohm Ntc thermistors on eBay but I accidentally got the really small ones, would those work? And if I were to go back and order the ones that you used, did you get the 1% or the 5% variant?
Jacobo Lopez what’s the room temp resistance? Can you make contact with the battery sufficiently?
Project-SBC I have no idea what that means nor do I have any clue on how to find out since the listing I bought gives no information other than “thermistor temperature sensor NTC MF52-103 3435 10k ohm 5%”. And I can probably contact if I sandwich it between the two batteries? Like I said they’re small and like 2-3 mm wide
Jacobo Lopez do you have a multimeter? The ones you bought might be usable, but we would have to see what the resistance of the thermistor is.
Project-SBC When I plug in and set my multimeter to the 20k ohm setting it tends to be around 8-9 ohms but probably more consistently at about 8.4 to 8.6 or so
Can i use 3 battery 18650 in series to power up lattepanda alpha using 12 volts input from JST PH2.0 - 4P connector?
Yes that would work, however below about 11.5V things may become unstable, especially under heavy loads, so you won’t get the full capacity from the batteries. You could get a 12VDC regulator to help smooth it out for longer period just be careful the batteries aren’t drained too much.
@@HandheldHardware Thank you so much!
Project-SBC so can i parallel 2 packs of 3 series 18650 battery to get more capacity?
Haziq Hazmi yes that would help. You could also go to 4s since the jst connector can go up to 15V but it’s important to keep it at 15V max. Make sure all of them are on BMS pcb too
Please tell me how do you calibrate the battery? I successfully made the battery pack according to your tutorial. But the power status displayed by the window does not seem to match the actual condition of the battery. Window always tells me that the battery capacity is 0, but LPA can still work normally for a long time (almost 2 hours).
wa gaga that’s awesome you got it working! The only way to calibrate in windows is set power critical condition to hibernate at 3%-5%, leave charging for a few hours while on, then unplug charger and let the battery drain until windows hibernates automatically. You need to do that a few times for it to get better at estimating the battery. It won’t be perfect though, off a few %
@@HandheldHardware Thank you for your guidance, I will try this method in the next few days ~ Thank you
can i use powerbank instead of light volt battery
lipo battery not light volt
Have you build the case for it ? Can you please share 3d model ?
Peter Krett haven’t yet, when my new 3D printer arrives I’ll get back to designing parts. Should be here in two weeks
How do you get the 11-15V necessary for the Lattepanda with just a 2S battery?
Lattepanda alpha has 3 methods to power: usb c, 4 pin JST connector. These operate at 12-15V. The last option is the 10 pin molex panelmate connector on the bottom. This is for a 2S lipo pack
@@HandheldHardware thank you so much!! This makes me so much more curious to plan a build with the lattepanda :D i really wish more sbc did that
Can i run lattepanda alpha with powerbank. Can i use power bank instead of light volt batteries.
Bappy Ghosh yes a usb c PD power bank with 12v or 15v profiles will power the lattepanda alpha or delta. You can’t charge the battery and still use the alpha.
@@HandheldHardware u mean i cant change the power bank
Instead of 5000mah batteries, can two 8000mah batteries be used? Or is that more likely to catch fire?
Colton Mullins usually the higher than mAh the more current they can take or discharge, plus larger surface area. So reduced fire risk. Only downside is charge time. edit: always check the battery specs though, and if they aren’t provided ask
@@HandheldHardware how long does your 2x5000mah battery take to charge? Also, can you charge and play?
Colton Mullins you can charge and play. I never tested how long it took to charge, it might be around 2.5 hrs
Is this enough to power the lattepanda as well as a small display, say 7inches?
Rob Brennan yes! That’s exactly what this is for
@@HandheldHardware Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Just got this working with my own lattepanda and all is working perfectly. I really appreciate your help! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Rob Brennan stop on over to the discord channel for some pics of upcoming stuff
@@HandheldHardware Looks like it's really coming along. Can't wait for the next video!
Can I use a 100k thermistor instead of a 10k???
Raphael Trombini I would advise against, because you don’t want LiPo batteries getting above 70C or they can catch fire. A 100k Ohm thermistor won’t have the same resistance as a 10k ohm thermistor at 70C, so it won’t protect the LiPo battery
Hi, I im making a LP cellphone. i want to use a single battery and it need to be thin. Do you have any recommedation (V/mah)? and would i need a pcb like you did?
marcelin belisle is this with the original LattePanda or the alpha/delta?
@@HandheldHardware alpha
800s
It would be difficult to do with one battery. I’m not quite sure how you would do that. The power draw is pretty large for a single LiPo to accommodate. At the moment I don’t think it’s feasible with one battery
You can't really chose the voltages with batteries , lipos are 4,2 - 3.something , so you would need a boost converter to convert it to highlight voltage , and a separate charge circuit , so ye its possible but I think you will be better , cheaper , more officiant , and actually smaller with 2 batteries
how long will the panda survive with these LiPos?
Luigi I didn’t get a chance to test it because the wire near the connector broke. My 18650 battery pack at 6000 mAh lasted about 1h 45m under constant load, games or benchmarks
Will this work on a udoo bolt v8 with ryzen 1605b embedded and vega 8 igpu?
Tyler Looney nah, the Udoo bolt doesn’t have a built in charging circuit like the lattepanda. I am working on a UPS version like this but uses USB C PD power bank, which would work with udoo bolt
@@HandheldHardware o snap! Sweet cant wait to see please keep me posted it will help me alot, im trying to used usb type c with a mobile power bank to use with the udoo bolt, for its powerful cpu and gpu for robotics and if u plan on doing that, then i cant wait to see, much easier to use usb c and mobile rechargable battery bank lol
Tyler Looney indeed! Although to be honest it’s either going to require a circuit board which I’ll design or some components like small USB-C break outs and mosfets that get soldered together. When I have a working breadboard prototype I’ll post a video
@@HandheldHardware sweet thanks, if it wasn't for people like u, projects like this would take ages to figure out lol thank you for your tech service lol
I am also very interested in the topic of this conversation! Hope to see the project soon!
can you make battery for lattepanda delta 432 ❤
No battery connector on the delta 😭

@@HandheldHardware thanks, can i get alink to the inserts too?
HI ! Does this work with the LattePanda Delta ? Thanks
Djon Le Magnifique thanks for watching! No it doesn’t, the delta doesn’t have the battery connector. I am working on a power delivery version that could be used with the delta
@@HandheldHardware Thanks for your quick answer ! I already build a Handheld with the Pi 3B+ and want to make a new system for GameCube games (...). The Delta seems fine (I didn't find Gameplay on UA-cam but I hope it will work) and the Alpha too expensive for this kind of build. I'll follow your update on your UA-cam Channel. Good Luck
Djon Le Magnifique should work OK with most GameCube games see ETAPrime ua-cam.com/video/U69YdqUK32k/v-deo.html with same processor.
@@HandheldHardware That's a great information ! Thanks ! Please keep me update if possible about the power delivery version for the delta, I'm really interested.
Djon Le Magnifique will do! Still have some bugs to work out
Can I use regular 5v power bank with it ?
Forted Exe sorry, it cannot. USB C needs 12-15V, 10pin needs 7.3-8.6V. DC step up would need several amps to make the required voltage, would probably be expensive
@@HandheldHardware I didnt own the product yet. So this product required 15v usb c, it mean you cant use 5v usb c charger with it too ?. I cant find information about required voltage, but I checked on this page docs.lattepanda.com/content/alpha_edition/powering/ , they talk about omars 20000 power bank, it seem like 5v
@@HandheldHardware thanks, very nice
Forted Exe the power bank in there is PD compliant, so it will negotiate to a 12v or 15v power profile
Forted Exe I actually put that power bank in the document. It is a 45W output PD bank. I also use the Apollo Traveler with my lattepanda
Can you make a lattepanda switch with a graphics card? Is it possible?
That’s a tough one to do because of power consumption. The best would be integrated graphics that is somewhat powerful like V1605b by Ryzen. Dedicated GPU, even mobiles ones take 40+ watts which is tough to do with a battery and keep it small
@@HandheldHardwareMaybe you can connect a graphics card to the portable lattepanda and If you want to use it then you have to connect a cable for more power. You now what i mean?
le Schnößel challenge accepted. Parts on order from China so will update in a month or so
@@HandheldHardware do you have Instagram?
le Schnößel yes I do instagram.com/projectsbc/
how long does the battery last?
mv vo never got to find out. One of the wires on the connector broke at the plastic and I haven’t gotten around to re-wiring it. Should be similar to the 18650 pack though
@@HandheldHardware thanks a lot, and how much did that pack last then?
mv vo 1h45 min under constant load (gaming/benchmarks)
Do I must connect 10k NTC Thermistor?
천로져 yes, otherwise it will not power on
@@HandheldHardware Thanks 1 more, It's a 10pin connector, but are there really 7 cables connected. is it right?
천로져 yes that is correct, 3 wires are not used. Also, if you are interested I am working on making a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) with lattepanda and USB C PD power bank
@@HandheldHardware You are preparing a video? I am so excited.
천로져 still more testing. So far I have been successful but I have not tested all yet. Also need some mosfets which come next week. So maybe 2-3 weeks
LG LI-ION POLYMER BATTERT 7.6V 3.4Ah 25.84Wh possible???? 3250mAh
I took it off my laptop
천로져 does it have molex panelmate connector?
@@HandheldHardware I tried it on latte, but it didnt fit. Would it work if I changed the connector? What kind of thing should I buy?
천로져 yes, it could work if you had the connector. You can also buy other tablet battery that is compatible. If you want to make the connector, look for panelmate connector 10 pin, 51146-1000. Also buy the connectors and you will need a small crimper. It is somewhat difficult to make. I bought extra parts because I know I will make mistake. I bought parts to make about 10, I made 3 successful and have enough to maybe make 3 more.
@@HandheldHardware Very Thanks.
I want to buy another suitable battery, but I have a laptop battery that I dont use, so Im going to use it. If I buy a new battery, I think I will buy a PD portable battery( Xiaomi, Samsung)
Anyway, I afraid to ...convert 10pin.
I dont know how to it
I will find videos...
If Im only going to convert a battery from a laptop a laptop battery into 10pins, Wouldnt I need to install a PCB?
천로져 it would be difficult to find a video on it. I could make a quick one showing you what I do. The laptop battery should have a pcb on it already?
and l like say , that never use. plastic electric tape. its melting and can make all to cutch fire... always use the yellow kapton tape
Magnus Eriksson good to know, thank you. I have my wish list with kapton tape so I will get in the future
@@HandheldHardware yes. that is good idea
Is it okay to use this↓ instead of the protection PCB shown in the video?
