As salemcripple commented, trains used to have that setup. I used to see--and smell--the results of that sort of toilet on the R-R tracks in my hometown all the time. I just saw the inside of a restored caboose and saw the infernal contraption all ready to use, except for a plexiglass sheet put under the seat by the restorers to prevent anyone from trying it out for themselves. LOL!
Ever ride on an old amtrak? Their toilets did that. You could literally see the track whizzing by when you flushed the toilets. They got in trouble for environmental concerns, and too many people where getting a face full of shit when the train when past.
I remember when the toilet was flushed you could see the tracks below. Everything was dumped out. This was on passenger trains. Walking along the tracks back then toilet paper was not an unusual sight.
Jeezuz! This is barely one step above an old fashioned hole-in-the-ground outhouse (it looks to be about on par with intercity bus commodes). You'd think that with all the compressed air on a locomotive, they could at least provide a pressurized water supply to give the thing a strong, positive flush action--would probably save water, too.
This is a recirculating toilet. The waste goes into the holding tank below and it is pumped up to be flushed again, it appears that it doesn't use chemicals and I have a felling that IT REEKS!
If they didn't use chemicals there would be outbreaks of all sorts of diseases across railroads. So I have a feeling they need to use chemicals or it would be a violation of health & safety protocols almost everywhere.
last time i rode an amtrak that had those on it was back in the 90's. And the cars were probably from the 70's/80's. We weren't allowed to use the toilet while the train was in the station either lol.
Oh and one time it never got emptied. Like Porta-potties does they suck out the bad. It was overflowing with every turn we took. It was nasty. Pee was getting all in the floor and the smell was terrible.
Well, cleaner than most gas stations, er service stations, uh mini markets that sell gasoline and diesel, sans any mechanical help for your car or truck.
@csx7006 Our union and the carrier does not give a fuck about us. These toilets are probably worse than the bags. They are so bad, I took a video of one that was dirty and youtube took it down for disgusting content :(
They probably do, it's that the plastic bowl is also blue. Or the juice they use is clear. They must use chemicals otherwise yoh'd likely have outbreaks of diseases on engines everywhere.

...when I rode the trains as a kid...
...I would try to flush at grade crossings...
... with lots of cars waiting and watching......
@@paradiseroad6405before I go to Canada I staying at China bejing I always doing this lol😂
damn! I never knew you guys had toilets on the engines!! I knew you had to do something when you had to go but never had this idea!!

Must smell wonderful...
Very educational
We had to use numbered bags or hang it over the side. They used to find all sorts of stuff in the toliet before they removed them like fuzies, etc.
In the cab, where's the restroom located? I am just curious
One of the cleaner ones that I have seen.
Just like the Trainz SD-60 gorgeous
Usually it’s a nasty present from another crew. Most don’t have that water flush deal.
Hey, at which company do/did you work(ed)? I'm wondering
I believe NS
Yall still use the bags?
THE BEST PART POOPIE PUPER :))

Never shit in the lead engine
Wait who's driving? I'm not an American train enthusiast so I don't no but how long do they have to drive?
There's usually two people in the cab. engineer and conductor.
or they do crew changes
Was that a GMTX SD60?

You wouldn't want the train to hit the emergency brakes.
Where's the sink or toilet paper!?
whats the manufacturer of the toilet?
ok toilet foamer

Toilets eh?
I've been wondering that for some time now.
Where did they keep it in a steam locomotive? :D
...shit on a shovel and throw it in the firebox...
@@paradiseroad6405 Lmao 😂😂😂
Shit on a shovel, piss in a bottle, and then throw it in the firebox.
thats sad
At Least it flushes but no sink and at 0:12 The Seat has a hole in it and Lol: don't put anything into the toilet that you have not eaten or drank
Are you dieselducy?
It is no worse than a bus toilet....
@csx7006 Not since the late 90s
I bet there was a union agrement
Don't you use blue juice like the airlines?
They probably do, it's that the plastic bowl is also blue.
Or the juice they use is clear.
They must use chemicals otherwise yoh'd likely have outbreaks of diseases on engines everywhere.
more videos
For the pay it is bearable. Like they say shit in one hand want in other......
I hate those chemical toilets. All the old CR engines have them. They sure stink them up.
where does the shit go?
OMG!
Why don't you operate passenger trains :p
If the toilet is dirty then clean it or would that cause a union dispute and greavances so be filed because its not your job.
What is it a damn GMTX? I've dealt with those....the HLCX SD60's are worse (if you haven't noticed! )
But it still seems gross
