Thank the maker, someone who paints Blood Ravens the correct red!!! Beautiful work! Every guide I see is either Blood Angels red or way too dark and burgundy etc. In the game they are distinctly brownish red, no hint of purple at all, but the damned White Dwarf guide says to use Khorne Red and they end up never matching the game. (Paint minis how you like of course, but I like the canon colours!). I wish I had this colour when I painted up a squad of them, I used Khorne Red and then Iyanden Yellow contrast paint over it to make it browner. Straight from the pot would've been much easier lol
What colour are you going for? Green? Paint it white, then paint karandras green over it, clean your brush and soak up some of the karandras before it dries for a nice glow
That Pro Acryl red is something beautiful. I've heard a lot of good about that range and have been wanting to give it a go for a while now. Sadly none of my local hobby stores stock it and I do usually prefer to hold the pot in my hand and get a look at the colour before I buy it. Pictures online can be deceiving as to what the real deal looks like.
What would you say is the closest hue to the burnt red in the citadel or TTC range? I have many many reds already but would love to give this a go haha
Hi ! I’m new to the hobbie and want to start painting primaris marines. How can I tell the difference between first born and primaris ? Like some boxes say primaris and some don’t !
So, I used the exact same red, on a black primer just like you, but it came out looking much, MUCH darker than yours. Which is honestly really upsetting, because the red in the video is perfect.
Beautiful work, but for me it's a little bit too bright red for Blood Ravens. I got into 40k from Dawn of War, and the Blood Raven colour scheme there is much darker, almost like wine colour. Citadel used to have a really good base colour for Blood Ravens called "Gore Red" but they sadly discontinued it. So now i just use Khorne Red for a base and then wash the whole model with Nuln Oil, and then i go back and pick out flat surfaces and highlighted areas with another dose of Khorne Red, before adding some Wazdakka Red highlights. This gives the model much darker base reds, while still letting you work your way up to brighter highlights where it's appropriate.
Just picked up that burnt red to start my Blood Ravens, appreciate this video, your work is great
Cheers!
Going to apply these techniques when I get around to painting my Blood Raven Kill Team.

Just a suggestion, but if you do glue the shoulderpads on, Griffon Claw from Two Thin Coats has outstanding coverage.
Thanks for sharing!
You have to steal the paints of your friends, then they are real Blood Ravens.
Haha!
i love all you videos
Cheers
Hi buddy really love the tutorial for this one.
Would you have any recommendations for how to paint the eye visor on a blood ravens helmet?
What colour are you going for? Green? Paint it white, then paint karandras green over it, clean your brush and soak up some of the karandras before it dries for a nice glow

The general starter set is worth it. All the colors are solid and it's a generally small investment
Any good alternatives for Burnt Red?
I haven't found anything - I think you could try mixing doombull brown with khorne red perhaps - not sure on the ratio
@@ThePaintingCoach hmm will have to test it out. cheers for your recommendation since i look at the chart , it place it as Evil Sunz Scarlet
Evil Sunz Scarlet is a very bright red
With citadel and basing the red with Korn red what wash should i use to shade it?
Nuln oil
@@ThePaintingCoach Thank you!~
very cool would you make other Forgeworld Chapters Paint guides? like Red Scorpions, Carcharodons, Minotaurs...
No plans at the moment
@@ThePaintingCoachWhat if we say please? 🥺

Khorne Red citadel - or the darkest red in TTC - I don't recall the exact name - berserker red maybe?
Is there a particular reason you're using a dark primer? Would the red come out too bright if I'd use a white primer?
Yes the red will come out brighter on a white primer - will also take an extra coat or two to cover
@@ThePaintingCoach Okay, thanks!
Proper lovley tutorial
Cheers 👍🏻
What are the specifics of the brushes you use?
In this video Rosemary and Co Series 33, size 1 and 0
Hi ! I’m new to the hobbie and want to start painting primaris marines. How can I tell the difference between first born and primaris ? Like some boxes say primaris and some don’t !
Generally the first born marines have a variety of different helmets and really skinny looking legs
@@ThePaintingCoach ok thank you !
Where did you manage to get the burnt red, I can’t find it anywhere
I've had it a while - have you tried monument hobbies direct?
@@ThePaintingCoachno, but I did see it on element games, is it trusted?
Yes Element Games are great - I just put an order in with them today - use them all the time
How would you compare burtn red to mephiston red? getting AK paints over here is a bit hard but if its good enough then I'll get it.
Burnt Red is a Monument Hobbies paint (pro acryl brand). Mephiston is a lot brighter 👍🏻
Did you say what model this was? I didn't catch it if you did.
This is made from the basic intercessor kit 👍🏻
Awesome 👍
Thanks mate

I already based my Primaris in white scar, will that be a big deal or should I strip it off?
Might just need some extra base coats to cover
@ thank you 🙏🏻
I found the Wazdakka red was almost pink. Is what other people noticed?
You should stick random bits from other chapter. Great video
Thanks
LETS GOOOOOO
Love it
Thanks!
