David Richardson let’s see YOU do better! And how exactly is there NOTHING happening in his playing. He KNOWS the tradition back to front and beyond.... Let’s see YOU play with Ornette, Bu and be mentored by Miles ...

Art Blakey maybe the greatstest drummer of ever, continuing discover of young talents❤
Jazz will never die !!!!!!!!
Coming from Art Blackey's university you cannot get it wrong...he's been always producing superstars of jazz. Thanks.
Andile Meshack ...Blakey.
Saw Javon Jackson last year in Chicago at Andy's. A beautiful tenor player.
I swear I’m listening to Joe Henderson and Miles Davis ... fantastic set!!
I always loved Wallace Roney's tone and sound.
Nothing happening harmonically.
David Richardson being harmonic and technical satisfies the musicians. Just simply sounding good satisfies everybody.....!

This has to be early 1987. By the time I saw them in September, Wallace was gone and Philip Harper and Robin Eubanks were in.
Javon Jackson completely tore it up in that first solo of his. 🎶🔥🎷😃🤷🏻♂️
Such a pity more people haven't viewed this - It's great
Such a great tune.
Great band!
Can’t ever go wrong with Art and the jazz messengers. Does anyone have a full set list for this concert?

Name of the first tune?
Little Big Man written by former bassist Charles Fambrough
regarding time, groove and precision this version of "blues march" is far away from that with golson and timmons but still great.
Sorry, but this Little Man, a composition by an ex-Messenger bassplayer called Charles Fambrough, so your comparison doesn't make sense.
+Fred Dekker "Blues March" is the last song played here. "Little Man" is the first.
'Blue Moon' not 'Blues March'
Sorry! I hadn't listened through to the end before posting. 'Blue Moon' then 'Blues March'. The screen displays the titles anyway.
Personel?
Art Blakey (drums)
Peter Washington (bass)
Benny Green (piano)
Wallace Roney (trumpet)
Javon Jackson (tenor saxphone)
Geoffrey Keezer on piano
Enrico Bianda Geoffrey Keezer is the pianist who joined The Jazz Messengers after Benny Green. I love both pianists but this time, it's Benny Green.
@@enricobianda753 no its definitely benny green!
@@enricobianda753 [that's Benny Green. Geoff wore glasses.
RIP Wallace! #FuckCoronaVirus
