Thanks, I'm 16 and only got around to trying to learn how to tie my shoes now. Having it brief without any babytalk or obnoxious people screaming down my ear about how simple it is was exactly what I was looking for, practiced a few times and learned both methods in under 8mins. Godspeed 👌

@@ryzajasmine I have been using the double loop thing, demonstrated in many these videos on UA-cam , it works flawlessly. Not even once did it open up on it's own. Initially it was annoying getting used to tying it differently but once I got used to it 👌

@UA-camr I grew up only wearing velcro shows. When I turned 18 it was really hard to find shoes that fit me with velcros. So I dicided to learn to tie shoes
Tie the laces into a knot then make 2 loopes and put 1 under the other pull the loops a tada

OMG, Sir you are a LIFE SAVER!!!! I know how to do my shoe lace obviously, i'm 37, or maybe i'm 38, hell i can't even reemember anymore but my shoe lace (the standard shoelace you showed at the beginning of your video) almost always come undone. I tried the new shoelace at the end of your video and it's SOOOOOO much better!!!!! thank you random British guy on UA-cam!!!! People will write books about you some day! thank you!
I'm actually impressed that the beginning of your video shows the "right" way to tie a shoe knot (left over right, right over left) because you have essentially demonstrated a "square" knot. I've been doing this for over 53 years (my mom taught me) and I've never had my shoe laces come untied (until the end of the day when I take off my shoes). The problem that people have with their laces becoming untied is that someone taught them the "granny knot" (left over right, left over right). This will invariably become undone over time (just ask my wife who refuses to re-learn the square knot) and she's constantly having to stop and re-tie her shoes throughout the day. I don't think you need to add that extra (loop through the loop method at the 2nd half of your video) because the square knot takes care of itself.

Bro reading these comments is so refreshing, my friends tease me for not knowing how to tie my shoes properly a ton. Im trying to learn, "I learned how to tie my shoes in first grade!" Why the hell is it so hard for me😭😭 I've tried so many times but still couldn't tie it properly.
As a distance runner, I struggled with laces untying while running. A shoe store owner showed me this method in 1996, and I've been tying my shoelaces this way ever since-and I've never had a problem since!

Such a pity so many of the proceeding generations have had Velcro fastenings and haven’t been taught how to lace shoes. Incidentally the first demo is how to tie a bow tie too - just a reef knot.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN PASS IT THROUGH
I have a different way to always get the strong knot, you don't have to go around the loop twice, and I think it's much more intuitive. Tell me what you think.
Here it is : Just remember the very first crossing on which one is on top. If the RIGHT was on top, make a loop (bunny ear) on the RIGHT side. If the LEFT was on top, make a loop on the LEFT side. You always put the other (loose) string OVER the loop (bunny ear) as you can hold it in place as it intersects so the tightness you adjusted to your comfort does not change.
tl;dr: the side to make the loop follows which was on top for the first crossing, and the loose string always goes over the loop.
