yea he got shanced twice this video. First time was when that seagull hit him for a 0 when he was splashing. Yes it's an extremely low chance like 1/1000 but still a chance
You can use a Dragon Spear to stun the brothers as soon as they appear. I used this to get my no hit barrow achievement. I don't know if this is useful for the deadly three or not, but maybe you can stun then get an entangle off for Verac, or have a moment to change your prayers?
Probably not feasible sadly. Only two ways to realistically get the dragon spear. 1.) Gorraks, which are all aggressive and hit through prayer so literally impossible. And 2.) Brutal Black Dragons, which would require a grind to 77 Slayer as well as needing 69 Herblore for Antifire Potions since they aren't safe until you get those. That's a lot of effort to get the *chance* to grind for a dragon spear that might make Barrows safer, though it could be useful in other applications as well. Huge grind to get it though.

Really shows how ya gotta think for this stuff. Barrows is one of the earliest challenges most people will take on for pvm. Yet in this context, the entirety of it is changed. A simple challenge is now heavily rng dependent to succeed.
I've never played runescape before but I just get this sense of awe watching you everytime between how deep your knowledge of the game is and how nuts your execution is. I can't even fathom attempting something like this, kudos Settled I look forward to watching you pull it off!!
@@robodude5124 Yeah but the game is grindy af with extremely simplistic combat until end-game. If you do get into it you have to pay mems for months since bonds are so expensive now days. And then you're just grinding frequently to sustain bonds once you reach that point.
@@Kmn483 The grind is part of what makes OSRS good. The game allows you to choose how much attention you want to play, so if you want to afk during work you can, and if you want to go all out mashing your f keys you can also do that.
I know it's too late, but enchanting room with an earth staff and diamond enchant is net positive runes (especially if you deposit shapes) and solid xp rates. You can do it active - spam clicking to pick up shapes and manual cast enchant each time, or passively by spamming shapes and then slow enchant an inventory. Pre-changes I was getting ~80k an hour and positive blood/death/cosmics when trying hard
Verac can be dealt with freezes or snares. You can basically avoid verac damage if you sit behind coffin and walk snare. You get 2-3 attacks before you need move behind coffin. I think same tech can be used at chest so maybe this fixes your verac issue? That way verac mostly moves behind coffin keeping you safe
@@Coeiix Yeah, Verac tunnel is going to be an immediate tele if he spawns in the short halls. Settled's probably gonna have to force-spawn him in a corner room and safe spot with the (invisible) ladders, or rubble in the long halls. Even then there's a risk that he gets a hit in on spawning.
His kiting method is a lot safer imo. When I was trying to do the “can’t touch me” combat achievement I had over a dozen failed attempts with snare and then I switched to this ctrl run kiting safespot and got it much quicker.
The issue with verac isn't killing him once you get to the safe spot, it's to not get hit when he spawns in. The method Settled used is more consistent anyways because entangle can splash
this series really does have a ton of callbacks. Barrows grinding(Swampletics), bone crossbow(Tileman), rune crossbow(Swampletics), fire cape as the first goal(Fire cape speedrun, 1 inventory slot).
I've been doing a ton of low-level barrows on my iron. Been doing tons of what you do with ctrl/clicking to save on run energy whilst booking it. Good stuff, but you gotta be so focused. Remember, the ladders are invisible in each of the corner rooms. Hopefully you can deal with Verac that way. You got this!!!
in the tunnels, experiment with safe spots because if i recall the ladder is a safe spot but its been a while. I forget how you can force the dude to spawn in the tunnel, maybe it was killing mobs?
^ this, all "corner rooms" work with ladders (even tho invisible the game thinks theyre still there for some reason, mark where they all are). The short rubble in long halls (usually closest to a corner room door) work for the most part as well

Wonder if the lore books have any mentions of horses or if... wait, there are toy horses aren't there? Googled it, and there's an entire page on the wiki talking about how horses aren't in the game but how there are many references to horses by NPCs and such, it's a good read.

Awesome series, Settled!! I've always done Barrows out of the norm which could also help. I don't use prayer pots but instead use snare/entangle. Normally you can get x amounts of hits off and then rotate around the coffin to bind them again. Maybe this helps, but again amazing series!
I believe i have the hack for this: force spawn the max amount of spawns across every door along the path to the chest with an alt account. I believe the max amount of mobs spawned by a door is 5 or 6 going in one direction. Unsure if this max mob spawn prevents the brothers though! Regardless, still makes for a spooky Verac, but GOODLUCK and i hope this info may help!

Whenever watching this, I keep having daytime nightmares about some obscure mechanic or item that just randomly damages you ... Like a snowball holiday item or whatever. Completely forgotten and deadly.
Hey settled, if you need damage-less thieving that gives decent xp. Pickpocket wealthy citizens in Varlamore when they’re distracted, guaranteed success for like 15 seconds or so, then use the house keys you snag to thieve the houses nearby. Can average around 100k xp/h without damage. Not that bad to 99, just need to get to 50ish thieving to unlock wealthy citizens
Hey Settled, on RS3, the way the alch room works is that the cabinets are always in a set order. So if you open a cabinet and find an item, you can instantly know where the good items are. I don't know how well known this tech is, or if they changed it in OSRS. My hunch is that Jagex wouldn't go to the trouble to change something minor like that between the versions, so you might check that out and see if you can optimize your XP a bit.
Dude my heart when you clicked off the loot chest and just stood there, as I was thinking you’d use the teleport to close the interface, not manually close it then Tele… and then when you forgot…. 😱😱

An easier way to run around the coffins: if you click the adjacent square to step out before attacking the brother, it will automatically walk even if you have run turned on. It makes things much simpler and I've been using it a lot in my own runs. It also helps because you can be one step back from the coffin when the brother is trapped on the wide part of the coffin which gives some more breathing room.
You spawn verac and you insta-entangle him, you move a step away from him, attack twice then get into kiting position. If you were willing to 1-tick pray a mager and a ranger in the caves if something happens, this is much easier.

The only way i can think around this Verac problem is a DSPEAR or Entangle. Idk what to do about having Khalil or Ahrim in the tunnel though. And you HAVE to atleast trigger their fight to open the chest right if you dont actually see them in the tunnels... Listen youve gotten this far. Dont let anyone else try and put you down. You didnt spend all this time walking on tiles and in the swamp AND getting a fire cape with no damage. Keep pushing brother!
Have you considered using binding spells on Verac so you can farcast him? It might not negate the need to set up the initial kite, but it could give you some room for error if you forget to run. I know ancients are out of the question, but Entangle should work well if you can afford the nature runes!😁
16:01 I call here that he will make it through barrows. If he had to walk there I was going to say he would have perished on one of the runs to it but with the method of teleporting at his disposal, that idea is gone. But I think he will survive this. Even with 10% odds of completing it, I think he can do it.
i've done lots of Barrows runs when i was poor and lower magic level than you. basically each time you open a door, something spawns on the other side (one random mob or brother), but you can also keep opening and reentering the same door and it will keep spawning mobs and even potentially a brother, so you can probably do that on a corner room with an invisible ladder because brothers can't cross the ladder (even if it's invisible), massively reducing the chance of you dying because it's a safespot, and the room is big enough to kite him if you hug a wall. and also your own character CAN cross the ladder tile when it's invisible but not when it's visible, could be good if you account for the attack delay of Verac. better force him to spawn there rather than at the chest. otherwise the fire torches near the chest are also safespots but you can't fire through them, the chest itself is also a safespot i believe; you can just go around a torch, go far on the same tile line and try to entangle Verac and repeat until he dies, ofc be careful with entangle because all mobs/bosses have a short immunity to it after you use it on them. also i'd take some entangle spells or something to avoid dying in a crypt against Verac, you can squeeze more hits that way and it's safer. and lastly for Ahrim or Karil, well Ahrim usually attacks first (but not all the time) with a debuff spell that does no damage, so you can potentially save yourself in case you mess up something; Karil is dangerous because he attacks fast and you should learn when the hit registers with his animation because he's the fastest of all brothers, Ahrim's fireball attack is easy in comparison. and you should bring a shortbow (magic if you have it) and some ranged armor against Ahrim, he will splash way more and it will kill him faster.
I want to say I think every Phase should unlock a Save Point, where you restart. But then it would not feel the same. Losing that run would hurt. But keeping it alive would not be true to its purpose. Great Video as always.
It honestly wouldn't be hard. The plugin developer could just make it so that having the cape goves the account one more "life" and deletes it on the next death after that.

Hey Settled, I think a cool suggestion would be to somehow get a live 'heart rate monitor" section on the screen. Something simple on the corner or something. It would gives us viewers a little more insight on how you're feeling during whatever task it is vs showing face during so. perfect example would be seeing how it rises quickly at 20:27 and then being reckless at 21:00

Love the series. This is going to be looked upon as "One of those greats" in the OSRS UA-cam history. One complaint and I believe it's intentional, everything is being done alone. With alts and/or help with others many of these tasks become way easier. Even just scouting the wildy before entering would make it way less risky. (Unless the broken web was the helper ;o the plot thickens) Knowing that alts can make it easier and all of it is done alone does make it a bit cooler I guess. Seems a bit arbitrary for an MMO though.
You know you can play this game in a really relaxing way? Like trading with other players, using banks, using the whole map and moving as many tiles as you like?
What’s really cool about this series is how much and how tedious this could help you in the Gilenor games because you have to focus and look at more than just normal
15:32 This is why when I particularly care about a boost I use a second thing just to *time* it. You donʼt have any dragon tools to do that with though, so second mind bomb might be your best bet.

Yea this is way more dangerous than fire cape. If I was you I would abandon barrows entirely and find some other suitable tank armors. But good luck I believe in you and love this series it's always an instant click when I see it.

If Lowlife109 dies in Barrows, they need to add a 7th Barrows brother. Lowlife's ghost - 1% chance to spawn. Only has 1hp, but also can kill you in one shot.
Why not skip Verac when he's not in the tunnel? A misclick in either of those weird Verac spawns would've been the deletion of an amazing account. It's lower odds for a tank piece, but surely removing the chance of bad rng/messing up a Verac kill makes up for that.

My thoughts exactly. I lol'ed when he said nobody ever uses MTA for training, it's actually relatively solid training method for UIMs

Your method would be more chill for a normal account, but his method is more consistent for a 1hp account. Splashing a snare could cost him everything

Whenever watching this, I keep having daytime nightmares about some obscure mechanic or item that just randomly damages you ... Like a snowball holiday item or whatever. Completely forgotten and deadly.

Hey settled, if you need damage-less thieving that gives decent xp.
Pickpocket wealthy citizens in Varlamore when they’re distracted, guaranteed success for like 15 seconds or so, then use the house keys you snag to thieve the houses nearby.
Can average around 100k xp/h without damage. Not that bad to 99, just need to get to 50ish thieving to unlock wealthy citizens
I would love to see a series where you do Varlamore only UIM for Dizana's quiver. It can be done!
Hey Settled, on RS3, the way the alch room works is that the cabinets are always in a set order. So if you open a cabinet and find an item, you can instantly know where the good items are. I don't know how well known this tech is, or if they changed it in OSRS. My hunch is that Jagex wouldn't go to the trouble to change something minor like that between the versions, so you might check that out and see if you can optimize your XP a bit.

An easier way to run around the coffins: if you click the adjacent square to step out before attacking the brother, it will automatically walk even if you have run turned on. It makes things much simpler and I've been using it a lot in my own runs. It also helps because you can be one step back from the coffin when the brother is trapped on the wide part of the coffin which gives some more breathing room.

You spawn verac and you insta-entangle him, you move a step away from him, attack twice then get into kiting position. If you were willing to 1-tick pray a mager and a ranger in the caves if something happens, this is much easier.

Snare orEntangle does work on NPCs. I know you don't want to spend extra time in close quarters. But it would immobilize them temporarily of course.

The only way i can think around this Verac problem is a DSPEAR or Entangle. Idk what to do about having Khalil or Ahrim in the tunnel though. And you HAVE to atleast trigger their fight to open the chest right if you dont actually see them in the tunnels...
Listen youve gotten this far. Dont let anyone else try and put you down. You didnt spend all this time walking on tiles and in the swamp AND getting a fire cape with no damage. Keep pushing brother!

Have you considered using binding spells on Verac so you can farcast him? It might not negate the need to set up the initial kite, but it could give you some room for error if you forget to run. I know ancients are out of the question, but Entangle should work well if you can afford the nature runes!😁

If he had to walk there I was going to say he would have perished on one of the runs to it but with the method of teleporting at his disposal, that idea is gone. But I think he will survive this. Even with 10% odds of completing it, I think he can do it.

i've done lots of Barrows runs when i was poor and lower magic level than you.
basically each time you open a door, something spawns on the other side (one random mob or brother), but you can also keep opening and reentering the same door and it will keep spawning mobs and even potentially a brother, so you can probably do that on a corner room with an invisible ladder because brothers can't cross the ladder (even if it's invisible), massively reducing the chance of you dying because it's a safespot, and the room is big enough to kite him if you hug a wall.
and also your own character CAN cross the ladder tile when it's invisible but not when it's visible, could be good if you account for the attack delay of Verac.
better force him to spawn there rather than at the chest.
otherwise the fire torches near the chest are also safespots but you can't fire through them, the chest itself is also a safespot i believe; you can just go around a torch, go far on the same tile line and try to entangle Verac and repeat until he dies, ofc be careful with entangle because all mobs/bosses have a short immunity to it after you use it on them.
also i'd take some entangle spells or something to avoid dying in a crypt against Verac, you can squeeze more hits that way and it's safer.
and lastly for Ahrim or Karil, well Ahrim usually attacks first (but not all the time) with a debuff spell that does no damage, so you can potentially save yourself in case you mess up something; Karil is dangerous because he attacks fast and you should learn when the hit registers with his animation because he's the fastest of all brothers, Ahrim's fireball attack is easy in comparison.
and you should bring a shortbow (magic if you have it) and some ranged armor against Ahrim, he will splash way more and it will kill him faster.
I want to say I think every Phase should unlock a Save Point, where you restart. But then it would not feel the same. Losing that run would hurt. But keeping it alive would not be true to its purpose. Great Video as always.

It honestly wouldn't be hard. The plugin developer could just make it so that having the cape goves the account one more "life" and deletes it on the next death after that.

I think a cool suggestion would be to somehow get a live 'heart rate monitor" section on the screen. Something simple on the corner or something. It would gives us viewers a little more insight on how you're feeling during whatever task it is vs showing face during so. perfect example would be seeing how it rises quickly at 20:27 and then being reckless at 21:00

Love the series. This is going to be looked upon as "One of those greats" in the OSRS UA-cam history.
One complaint and I believe it's intentional, everything is being done alone. With alts and/or help with others many of these tasks become way easier. Even just scouting the wildy before entering would make it way less risky. (Unless the broken web was the helper ;o the plot thickens) Knowing that alts can make it easier and all of it is done alone does make it a bit cooler I guess. Seems a bit arbitrary for an MMO though.
You know you can play this game in a really relaxing way? Like trading with other players, using banks, using the whole map and moving as many tiles as you like?

Why not skip Verac when he's not in the tunnel? A misclick in either of those weird Verac spawns would've been the deletion of an amazing account. It's lower odds for a tank piece, but surely removing the chance of bad rng/messing up a Verac kill makes up for that.
If you skip him he will spawn in the tunnel and murder you, nice try though
