It's more like a plate and utensil. In this game, for keyboard and mouse players, they have to switch to a different style of playing. It's like not using forks or spoons. If I had to eat something without utensils, then I'd have a hard time. Games in the first place, should have settings that can accommodate for different types of players.

The binds are pretty classic binds for an arcade style bullet hell, basically twinstick controls, the point is that you don't use the mouse, you put your right hand over j and k. But yeah rebinding would be great. And honestly with classic bullet hells such as Touhou it's usually z, shift and x to fire/focus/bomb and arrow keys to move, which imo is worse.

Talking about the hit detection, the reason why it works properly in this game, it is client sized. In multiplayer pvp games on roblox, it is insanely hard to make proper hit detection, because it is either: your never hit your moves against your opponent if he has more that like 200 ping; it will seem like you got hit from 5 kilometers away. Since this game is single player, they didn't had to really bother about roblox server shenanigans and just made the hit detection client sided. Great video btw! edit: I have played the game, and it turns out that if you have najama race and fight against mido boss, he realizes that you are a najama and starts to act much more friendly to you! That's what I call attention to detail!
Yep, I'm not even good at Touhou and I cleared every stage in an hour-half on hard. The funny weird mechanics like screen fog and QTEs threw me for a bit of a loop

Thanks for the reminder Eclipse, I had this game on my to-maybe-check-out later list and I went and played it 1 minute into the video, and cleared all stages on hard 1.5 hours later. Super fun experience and I can't wait for more
I think the logic behind those keybinds is that you're supposed to use your other hand to press those keys and not keep it on the mouse all the time, since it doesn't seem like the game uses it all that much during actual gameplay. Still sucks that not every game lets you rebind keys for easier access to stuff on the fly
How could he ever get past the Shanks boss?! His moves are so hard to avoid and have such a huge AOE. It’s impossible for you to try to distance yourself to avoid his attacks. It’s practically harder than dark souls 3!
if you enable "skip cutscenes" on the settings, every time you press R you dont need to select the difficulty after dying (and dialog mid fight is also disabled) You can also concentrate (move slowly)by holding left shift
This is like looking at a well crafted bowl from a top angle. It looks so simple, then you start thinking about the complexity to such an item. The process, like this game, it looks simply, but it truly is a well built masterpiece. Like a good bowl, it may have some flaws. But how can one be perfect? How can a bowl be perfect? The answer is that no earthly bowl can be made perfect, and no earthly game can be perfect. But it can be made excellent and good. This game might not get the apprection that it deserves, like a bowl, it will be overlooked. But still serve an important component of the dining experience.
I understand being bad at bullet hells, it takes a hell of a lot of effort to get even remotely ok at them. (I had an easier time because of my time playing touhou which this game is very inspired, by hell one of midos patterns gives me heavy youmu vibes.) I don’t blame you for changing the difficulty at mido and then not playing afterwards, cuz that fight is pretty damn hard (in my opinion maybe I’m just bad at those kinds of patterns though.) Only advice I can give if you ever do play this again is to look at the area ever so slightly in front of your character for most attacks, (trust me it helps give you more time to dodge) and that seeing through the bullet hell is a skill that develops naturally on its own or at least it did for me I can’t speak for anyone else, I’m glad you enjoyed this quality game though even if it did kick your ass

As a Lua(U) Roblox studio programmer, I can tell that this game is primarily programmed on client sided code, with only perhaps dying and saving data handled on the server. This avoids Roblox's terrible netcode, but unfortunately, this method is not possible for multiplayer games on Roblox.
I recommend you play a "3 ish" person shooter it isn't finished but I found it really fun. There is some roblox jank in it but I find it as a really impressive shooter game. If you read my comment (maybe) the name of the game is called HELLMET. You should try it. and the lore is kinda there too.
it's always bosses named mido that get me stuck not played this game yet, but in code vein I got stuck on Mido for almost 2 days before I could beat him. This was on my 1st playthrough and I had never seen anything close to that level of hard before.
A decent roblox game I recommend you play is find the chomiks, its a ''find the game'' where you have to use puzzles find chomiks around the regular map and many other realms, aka other maps inside the game which you will need to find, it requires obby skill and a good information on cyphers and other things such as roblox player ID's to figure out certain chomiks ,It has lots of content without feeling bloated and boring to play with very cool designed chomiks. It has its flaws with some chomiks being very hard and sometimes unfair to obtain because of its vague hint, but it is still one of my favourite roblox games and I recommend you play it.
I played this game, and there were a couple of "Deepwoken" references. Off the top of my head, one of the selectable race's description had a mention of the "Deepwoken" race Ganymede.
Eclipse, since you've tried this out, it'd be nice to see you try out the Ace Combat series, I recommend you try out Ace Combat 4 on the PS2. It's a fun arcade flight shooter that you can just pick up & play.
It's a fantastic game for what it is, it seems the danmaku have been improved since the last time I played it. The game just has a lot of extreme inconveniences, for me personally, that prevent me from wanting to play it over something like Touhou. Those keybinds are one of them, god forbid I play without being able to use the arrow keys to move and Z,X,C for my abilities. Another problem were the rather shaky danmaku hitboxes and patterns before the update. It seems they've been fixed, thankfully, so I might go ahead and play this again just to try it out. For some criticisms, I'd like the bullet hitboxes to be just a tiny bit more forgiving, exact bullet hitboxes aren't exactly optimal for games like these. Next, those damn keybinds lmao. Finally, I think shottypes could be flashier than just basic bullets. To, you know, differentiate the races more and such.
The hit detection isprobably good because as a solo game, the devs are probably able to put all of the projectiles and that on client side. Wouldn't be surprised if most of it ran on client scripts.

The hit detection on games like deepwoken are impossible currently, to fix. its causef by ping and to keep the game secure its server sided. but synbyte is from my knowledge client sided which means extremely minimal delay. but great job to the devs. the games great.
The reason why the hit detection is actually good in this game is because there is no lag to worry about because it all runs on the client, on your screen.
The keybind arent weird its just that your not suppose to use your left hand for them, your suppose to use your right hand and have no hands on the mouse.
The hit detection is quite simple. Most games that actually include multiplayer, use the server as a judge on whether you are hit or not. At the very least, it has to keep track of it. This game uses client side detection, meaning it is 100% accurate and there are no replication delays. If exploiters did not exist and there was no need for the server to exist, I assure you most games would have that level of hit detection. This being said, it is not impossible to improve the accuracy of attacks, even with server sided detection. However, I truly believe it to be impossible to 100% fix the accuracy. It is a platform problem, really. Great video, nevertheless.

One such low playercount game I'd reccomend is PWNed 3: Aeternae Memori. I would not suggest playing it until the upcoming 1.8 update that aims to fix... SO MANY ISSUES, but it'd be good to have your eye on it when that happens.
Another recent roblox game I'd suggest playing is Pressure, the test closes on the 24th so there isn't much time. Extremely high quality doorslike game with a professional voice acter. If you try it, note that your first run will not have the starter shop to get a light, but all runs past that point will.

The hit detection is quite simple. Most games that actually include multiplayer, use the server as a judge on whether you are hit or not. At the very least, it has to keep track of it. This game uses client side detection, meaning it is 100% accurate and there are no replication delays. If exploiters did not exist and there was no need for the server to exist, I assure you most games would have that level of hit detection.
This being said, it is not impossible to improve the accuracy of attacks, even with server sided detection. However, I truly believe it to be impossible to 100% fix the accuracy. It is a platform problem, really. Great video, nevertheless.

There wouldn't be a need for a slowdown button if movement tied to the mouse. Making movement tied to the mouse sounds like a no brainer.
i feel like putting J and K as binds is probably because you can put 2 hands on the keyboard instead of 1 on the mouse

Just for the record, no you DONT have to reach your thumb across your whole damn keyboard to focus. I personally thought it was natural that you would play with two hands on the keyboard; point still stands that you should be able to re-bind the keys in the game settings.

I would not suggest playing it until the upcoming 1.8 update that aims to fix... SO MANY ISSUES, but it'd be good to have your eye on it when that happens.

The controls are so weird because you're supposed to play the game with both your hands on the keyboard like many old games especially in the Asian space which this game is inspired by
