- I was very fortunate to get this up close and personal capture of a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk searching diligently for a chipmunk he evidently spotted from on high. (I often see chipmunks in this area). This young hawk gets daringly close in his quest while I peek around my door jamb, and then run through the house trying to stay with him.
Nice capture!
Such a fluffy hawk...
How interesting! Stalking prey on foot!
I hadn't thought about that. A hawk stalk. Lol. Only a Wandering "Sole" would have caught the "on foot" stalk. :)
ha you may be right : )
that hawk looks young. sorry he didn't catch it.
+chutybutyful It had a lot of white spots so I'm sure it wasn't mature. It stayed around for more than 40 minutes and was very patient. My bird feeders were just a few feet away and all the birds cleared out while the hawk was out there.
Oh I bet they did. That happens here as well. Great video. Very good capture. On your part that is. Lol.😂
+chutybutyful Lol. Yes, I'm sure the hawk was hoping for a good capture, too. Thanks for watching.
Cooper's Hawk ?? OH no!!!! Cooper Hawk ate my cardinal one time *#&*$#)%
It's either an immature Cooper's or Sharp-shinned Hawk. Sorry for your loss. Check out all my cardinals on "Winter Birds' Feeding Frenzy." I do believe you have watched it before.
i though it was a red tail hawk,
I don't think the red tail hawk has the dark horizontal stripes across its tail. Thanks for watching and commenting.
oh, ok, my mistake,, I learned something new today, thanks.
