Telling people to not use an Adblock is telling people to use the internet in a more unsafe way. There are too many ads, on UA-cam, that are scams or sexual in nature. I have premium, but I would encourage anyone who can’t afford or doesn’t want premium to use an Adblock on UA-cam and the internet in general.
As a viewer, I suscribed UA-cam Premium when it was launched because I know nothing is really free and that is fine. As a creator I am upset that we can't chose the kind of ads on our channel. For example when I watch UA-cam during lunchbreak at work, I have to watch the ads and I have a lot of ads for meat. This would be cringe on a vegan channel. And scams or sexual content in ads shouldn't be allowed on UA-cam in my opinion.
So in other words, UA-cam is slowly making it a point not to pay content creators but make everyone else pay, but then have the audacity to have guidelines about what you can post.
If you think simply monetizing your channel on UA-cam is how you build a brand then you fundamentally misunderstand the entire purpose of this channel.

Meaning that they are not legally responsible for the content that is uploaded to their website. The second they start regulating outstide of their Terms of Service or removing content, their status as a safe-harbor-website is threatened. They might have to go through a legal process proving they’re not a publisher. If the court finds they are no longer a safe harbor and are now legally considered a publisher, UA-cam will now be legally responsible for the content posted on its site. Which, trust me, UA-cam does NOT want that. So it’s actually in their best interest that they don’t “control” what’s on the site. They just say “we won’t allow you to use it if you break our rules.”
have they FIXED and ADDRESSED the issue where all of a sudden your videos start getting 0 (ZERO) IMPRESSIONS?? There are absolutely ZERO videos explaining why this happens and absolutely no fix around it. VIDIQ, please, for the love of GOD, ADDRESS THIS ISSUE as it is something that impacts small channels (Starting up) and nothing can fix it. If you'd like more details, I am more than willing to give you analytics and such.

this is all nice but as a user.....i still don't understand why i can't easily scroll the community posts from all i'm subbed to at once. it's always just appearing randomly. i don't want notifications on for everyone but i wouldn't mind scrolling in chronological order like a twitter feed quickly. i feel like i'd catch community posts better/more. i keep mentioning this because i love community posts and how they can give information and updates outside of videos but it's still so messy in the almost year 2024
I really think this is a positive update for youtube where they for once focus on their creator rather than their advertisers for the first time in forever, while also not enforcing stricter guidelines but keeping the existing ones as they are

THIS IS THE MOST HELPFUL UPDATE FOR ME! I was really struggling to get my shorts views up to 10 million to get monetized, I got up to 9.7 million, but I’ve slipped back down and am now at 5.8 million, when the new requirement is 3 million I’ll GET TO FINALLY BE MONETIZED AFTER OVER TWO YEARS
I would agree with telling people to just buy UA-cam Premium or watch the ads, if not for the downright intrusive number of unskippable ads, and ads with very inappropriate content. But with the sheer amount of ads for obvious scams, and ads for AI adult content, and everything like that, using an adblocker is completely reasonable. I have UA-cam Premium myself, and something like $15 a month is by no means expensive, but I can understand how some people don't want to support a company going in the direction that UA-cam is going.
At least for now, we can control mid-roll ads; I bet UA-cam will take that control away from us too in the future. Which would be a nightmare for ASMR creators. Not being able to disable post-roll ads is already bad enough.
The thing is I think UA-cam taking away control of mid-roll ads and placing them themselves could work out better for content creators because currently just because we place ads, doesn't mean they will be seen. UA-cam prefers to show ads during pauses in speech when they won't disrupt the watching experience. For Live streams UA-cam has three settings, which includes one setting that will "aggressively" push ads during the live stream, I think this would be the best option for creators when it comes to normal long form video content, as I think it could potentially end up boosting ad revenue. Ultimately UA-cam wants videos to make as much money as possible, which is good for us content creators, so them taking control of the placement of the ads could have significant benefits for creators in the long and even short term
@@angryguymwa But it hurts ASMR content because mid-roll ads would destroy the ASMR experience. You try to relax/sleep, and you're interrupted by loud jump scare ads! Even forcing the post-roll ads has been awful for ASMR because many people use ASMR for sleep. And now the jump scare ads wake you up.
FYI: Rights holders with the Content ID CMS tool don't necessarily need to meet those monetization requirements. The CMS tool allows us to manually claim to monetize assets under any channel linked to the Content Manager.
they do roll out lots of small updates to streaming on the platform from time to time, and as a streamer/programmer id also LOVE some API changes to compete with Twitch, but streaming isn't really a huge money maker for UA-cam. i think for the next few years streaming will be on the backburner when it comes to prioritizing updates, but we will still get little updates from time to time.
I can't wait for the AB testing to be available for me. I would rather my audience decide which is best. I also love that once UA-cam sees a winner it will start showing that to all people. Easier than trying to remember to go back and see.
Please create a video with the comprehensive list of channels that do not get monetized to save new UA-camrs from putting in time on the wrong channels. Nobody has bothered to come up with this list.

Hey VidIQ Please talk with the YT devs to fix the reused content policies if big channels got demonetized they are personally telling them which video violated their policies and they don't need to wait 30 days or 90 days to remonetize their channel. their channel is getting instantly monetized. but if small channels are getting demonetized because of reused content UA-cam is not telling them anything and just sending terms and policies every single time. do you think this is valid?
Would be fantastic if UA-cam let content creators with age-restricted content still use new features. Taking away access to these features is not going to encourage people to make less of it, it's just going to make us feel animosity towards a team clearly biased against us. Telling people to not use AdBlockers is downright harmful as it is the first lime of defense against malware, even FBI recommends adblockers. Sure pay for premium youtube, but don’t tell people to not use adblockers.
Perhaps I'm still getting acquainted with the entire platform, and I might be missing a key feature, but I hope UA-cam could incorporate a feature in the "My Contents" section. Specifically, when selecting visibility filter and opting for only public videos to be displayed, it would be convenient if this preference persisted unless manually changed. Currently, each time I navigate to that area, I find myself having to reset the visibility filter, even if I did so less than ten minutes ago. It automatically reverts to displaying all content, private and unlisted videos. Alternatively, UA-cam could consider implementing tabs for different video categories, such as "Unlisted" or "Private," allowing users to easily access and manage videos based on their chosen visibility settings. While this might be a personal preference, I believe it could enhance user experience.
Are we unable to pick our thumbnail for YTS? When uploading Shorts, I’m able to select mine by scrolling along the bottom where my pic is. Did it change?
I like A/B thumbnail but I would LOVE an option to have different thumbnails for different languages, the same way I can translate my titles and description. Different cultures prefer different thumbnail styles, and in my case it's opposite preference in many ways. For example, EN: no words, simple design, no red text vs JP: many words, complex design, red text is best. This feature could work the same way as title and description, so depending on your UA-cam language settings you would see a specific thumbnail instead of the same.
That highlighting thing will be interesting, is it like based off of when we say it and are we relying on youtube to know when to highlight or can we like manually set that up
Before I found VidIq, I did giveaways, also people in my niche community promoted me. Then after 1K they just slowly roll in. But then over the summer I found VidIQ and went back and fixed a bunch of old thumbnails, titles, descriptions and tags to try and optimize them better. Then use the knowledge to use on new vids to ensure they got good performance. So, then I found what I consider good for myself and am happy with it :)

As a viewer, if there was one feature I could ask for it is that UA-cam should require creators to state at the beginning if ANY profane language is used. There is nothing worse than watching a video in front of my kids just to have an F bomb dropped. I don't swear. I don't even say "crap" so it sure would be nice to not worry about that in UA-cam videos. I don't care if they use the language, that's the beauty of UA-cam is that people get to create what they want. BUT I should be aware that its going to be there.

Whenever I scrub through chapters on the video timeline, there is this annoying vibration! There is no UA-cam option to turn it off. Please fire the person who did this. Finding out what UA-cam considers “AI” would be great. While not likely to count, I use AI for background noise removal and background removal from my camera. Not likely to count, but it’s still there.

Probably better off not even enabling ads you have a solid sales funnel from your videos to whatever off-site means of monetization. And to watermark your vids or at least have a non-intrusive way to track it back to you for the viewers when people repost them in full or part.
Love the new feature for checking the history of a channel or user on a chat in a livestream. A sure win for mods and channel owners. Hope it is unveiled on the UA-cam phone app sooner

FYI Official artist channels are not available for the “for you” feature. When I asked UA-cam support why? They responded with a link to “submit feedback” 😂
I'm glad custom thumbnail on shorts is not a thing. One less thing to stress about and compete with, when it's just a short. This market is hypercometative already. Just let us pick a selection between 5 random frames or something. You don't click on a short because of the thumbnail anyway - you just scroll down to the next one. So don't force me to min-max the thumbnail of shorts just to have that small little edge.
Just click the 'Next' button (to the left of the volume button) to go to the next video, then back to reload the video you want to watch. UA-cam can't, by law, load another ad for the same video for the same IP address, at the same time. Skips the ads at the start of videos. Creators will ALWAYS favor ads, because they make money from wasting your time.
Have these come out already? For me some features are available like the custom thumbnails, links update, new about section, split video data, but the new monetization policy is not there.
Be careful posting shorts on your main channel. UA-cam is pushing shorts heavily, meaning they will push your short form more than your long form. This will lead to more subscribers that have short attention spans. This will lower your watch time and cause your videos to perform poorly.
4:40 exactly! And almost no one agrees with me on this. As bad as the ads may be, UA-cam is hosting so much video. And why breaks their terms of service because you dislike ads? Plus, that takes away money from creators. If you don't have the money, you should be watching the ads or doing something else besides watching UA-cam.
Won't impact me at all as long as the algorithm is as sht as it is now! Last video once again got a boost at the middle of the night while it's targeted at Dutch teaanagers and young adults... So obviously clickrate and AVD crashed and the video is done for. I also constantly run into the issue of near shadow bans because of minors being detected in the video by the algorithm. A huge BUG, which youtube keeps denying for years now.... I will never grow and I do fully, fully blame the algorithm for it. It's awful!

It's bullsh*t that you can't monetise with ads at 500 subs, yet UA-cam will still run ads on those videos and take 100% of the revenue.

I wish UA-cam would work on Streaming things more. We really need enough in the API to compete with twitch

Honestly the only reason I started UA-cam was ad revenue and it seems like they’re slowly removing that all together. What’s the use of even starting UA-cam now?

Telling people to not use AdBlockers is downright harmful as it is the first lime of defense against malware, even FBI recommends adblockers. Sure pay for premium youtube, but don’t tell people to not use adblockers.

Perhaps I'm still getting acquainted with the entire platform, and I might be missing a key feature, but I hope UA-cam could incorporate a feature in the "My Contents" section. Specifically, when selecting visibility filter and opting for only public videos to be displayed, it would be convenient if this preference persisted unless manually changed. Currently, each time I navigate to that area, I find myself having to reset the visibility filter, even if I did so less than ten minutes ago. It automatically reverts to displaying all content, private and unlisted videos. Alternatively, UA-cam could consider implementing tabs for different video categories, such as "Unlisted" or "Private," allowing users to easily access and manage videos based on their chosen visibility settings. While this might be a personal preference, I believe it could enhance user experience.

Are we unable to pick our thumbnail for YTS? When uploading Shorts, I’m able to select mine by scrolling along the bottom where my pic is. Did it change?

I like A/B thumbnail but I would LOVE an option to have different thumbnails for different languages, the same way I can translate my titles and description. Different cultures prefer different thumbnail styles, and in my case it's opposite preference in many ways. For example, EN: no words, simple design, no red text vs JP: many words, complex design, red text is best.
This feature could work the same way as title and description, so depending on your UA-cam language settings you would see a specific thumbnail instead of the same.

Before I found VidIq, I did giveaways, also people in my niche community promoted me. Then after 1K they just slowly roll in. But then over the summer I found VidIQ and went back and fixed a bunch of old thumbnails, titles, descriptions and tags to try and optimize them better. Then use the knowledge to use on new vids to ensure they got good performance. So, then I found what I consider good for myself and am happy with it :)

As a viewer, if there was one feature I could ask for it is that UA-cam should require creators to state at the beginning if ANY profane language is used. There is nothing worse than watching a video in front of my kids just to have an F bomb dropped. I don't swear. I don't even say "crap" so it sure would be nice to not worry about that in UA-cam videos. I don't care if they use the language, that's the beauty of UA-cam is that people get to create what they want. BUT I should be aware that its going to be there.
UA-cam. Would you be so good to please fire the person who put in the update - VIBRATION WHEN SEEKING CHAPTERS ON SEEKBAR? Whenever I scrub through chapters on the video timeline, there is this annoying vibration! There is no UA-cam option to turn it off. Please fire the person who did this. Hence, UA-cam bypass' all disabled vibration options on my device & app permissions so I still get this. Please fire the person who did this.

Finding out what UA-cam considers “AI” would be great. While not likely to count, I use AI for background noise removal and background removal from my camera. Not likely to count, but it’s still there.

Probably better off not even enabling ads you have a solid sales funnel from your videos to whatever off-site means of monetization. And to watermark your vids or at least have a non-intrusive way to track it back to you for the viewers when people repost them in full or part.

I'm glad custom thumbnail on shorts is not a thing. One less thing to stress about and compete with, when it's just a short. This market is hypercometative already. Just let us pick a selection between 5 random frames or something. You don't click on a short because of the thumbnail anyway - you just scroll down to the next one. So don't force me to min-max the thumbnail of shorts just to have that small little edge.

UA-cam should do the A-B testing thing with titles too similar to the way dynamic search ads worked in google ads.
Just click the 'Next' button (to the left of the volume button) to go to the next video, then back to reload the video you want to watch.
UA-cam can't, by law, load another ad for the same video for the same IP address, at the same time.
Skips the ads at the start of videos.
Creators will ALWAYS favor ads, because they make money from wasting your time.

Have these come out already? For me some features are available like the custom thumbnails, links update, new about section, split video data, but the new monetization policy is not there.

Be careful posting shorts on your main channel. UA-cam is pushing shorts heavily, meaning they will push your short form more than your long form. This will lead to more subscribers that have short attention spans. This will lower your watch time and cause your videos to perform poorly.
What do you think will UA-cam increase short videos RPM ? ?
There are rumours that they are working on more innovative ad placements, but no one really knows for sure until there is an official announcement

As bad as the ads may be, UA-cam is hosting so much video. And why breaks their terms of service because you dislike ads? Plus, that takes away money from creators.
If you don't have the money, you should be watching the ads or doing something else besides watching UA-cam.

Last video once again got a boost at the middle of the night while it's targeted at Dutch teaanagers and young adults... So obviously clickrate and AVD crashed and the video is done for. I also constantly run into the issue of near shadow bans because of minors being detected in the video by the algorithm. A huge BUG, which youtube keeps denying for years now.... I will never grow and I do fully, fully blame the algorithm for it. It's awful!
When you upload a short on mobile you CAN choose a custom thumbnail, you can not edit one later but you can choose one when you upload it.
I think that youtube should make new personalities write an essay on how "Rome wasn't built in a day".
Hey, to anyone that sees this, i have a question. ive tried everything but nothing has worked for me. I tried trend following, (it did amazing) but thats not the route I want to go. I cant upload much because i only have a switch and whenever I do upload what I like it just doesnt do well. If anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it. Just want to make creative and funny content to make people laugh. If anyone can help i would appreciate it, if not thats ok, i wish everyone a happy new year and success on their channels!
