Could do that all day, tinkering with old trains. Worked on the old electric cars we had here in the UK, so much more character than what replaced them, and more reliable too given abit of TLC.
If I were rich, would have one of these encircling my entire property and ride it everyday. Would have a sound system put in so I could play the Orange Blossom Special and Wabash Cannonball over the speakers too. Kid at heart here. Lol
Wow that was back when the E. P. Ripley was running historically that was Walt Disney's engine When he first come to the park he would personally drive the EP Ripley Which I thought is pretty cool
It's interesting that i never noticed the disneyland locomotives ran on oil, First i thought they are coal burners but there oil burners, Very interesting!
So incredibly jealous. I've been to the shop at WDW on their "Magic Behind the Steam" tour but I'd sure love to do the same at Disneyland. Thanks for sharing!
Why not spice it up a bit with different whistles? 1) C.K. Holliday should have Sierra Railway #3's Lima 5 Chime whistle 2) E.P. Ripley should have Baltimore & Ohio 6 Chime whistle 3) Ward Kimball should have ATSF 3751's whistle 4) Fred Gurley should have Shay #4's whistle 5) Ernest Marsh should have SP 4449's new whistle.
Because of Walt’s wishes and how he ran the railroad. He selected every whistle. (With the exception of #5) so the run the engines exactly how they were as Walt wished.
@FoolishMortal01 well I was just wondering because it just didn't feel real, the steam felt like something from a fog machine and I have noticed that most places have fake locomotives, but I do like the Disneyland railroad.
They are diesel powered burners (no coal) but everything will kill you just like a "real" train. They do have some safety items, low water alarm and burner cut out are the big one in my book. These guys are awesome and like a 5 year old I always wave to them.
Steam locomotive engineer as Disneyland has got you be one of the best jobs on the planet!
This would be a dream job, to do this every day!!!
It would be for me. I love trains!!!
When I work at Disneyland
I would want to drive to Disneyland Railroad it’s a dream I’ve been hoping for
How does one apply and get hired for the D.R.R?
This video made me smile big, both inside and out. Thank you so much for sharing this experience.
Homer Thompso
Concour!

Tons of Steam Locomotives, not only Black 5s
WHAT! C.K. HOLIDAY HAS LEFT DISNEYLAND! SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ENGINES!
This is amazing!! I've longed wanted like many just to be able to go backstage to see the roundhouse. Thank you so much!!!!
My favorite locomotives are:
#1 C.K.Holliday
#2 E.P. Ripley
#5 Ward Kimball
Ernest S Marsh is where its at
My favorite is Fred Gurley
This is was cool. Wish there was a video like this that covered the monorail. I'd love to see some BTS of monorail operation and maintenance.
I remember the good old times of the Disneyland Railroad
“Whenever my life gets me so down,
I know I can go down,
to where the music and the fun never ends!” 🎵🎶
I'd pay them to work there for a week!
I can't wait for the CK Holliday to come back!!
If I were rich, would have one of these encircling my entire property and ride it everyday. Would have a sound system put in so I could play the Orange Blossom Special and Wabash Cannonball over the speakers too. Kid at heart here. Lol
I had the chance to ride in the cab once when I was younger, best experience of my life. Also, it appears C.K. Holliday needs a bit of paint
This brings back memories.

When Rivers of America reopens, the train will be seen from Pirates Island formerly Tom Sawyers Island.
Wait it’s not Tom sawyers island anymore?
@@odiltm259 they changed the theming of it a bit. The full name is “Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island”
@@caljones I don’t care what they call it, to me it will always be “Tom Sawyer’s Island”.
CK Holliday is out for refurbishment. So is the Lilly Belle steamer at the Walt Disney World Railroad.
Sounds like the valve timing is off on the locomotive. Really noticeable when she is going slow.
My thought exactly
I thought so too, but it’s really because it’s slipping. The track in the asphalt caused it to slip
(Couple years later) ahhhh C.K holiday back up in running
As someone who polished brass in DCA, 3rd shift custodial, I freaked out seeing him polishing the brass without rubber gloves on.
I like all the engines for the disneyland railroad my most favorite one is 1 and 2
Very nicely filmed. A little narration here and there would be nice.
Great video on the train
This is Awesome! :-D
I like all the answers from the Disneyland real but my most favorite one is the 1 and 2
its a bit strage seeing these engines move with out the passenger coaches behind them
Why not spice it up a bit with different whistles?

I know Walt Disney personally owned the railroad when he was alive. I wonder if his family still owns it, or did it go to the corporation?
I like how the firebox is used to illuminate the speedometer.
It's actually not the Firebox, there is a small light out in front of the speedometer and pressure gauge that illuminates them
Also, that's the steam pressure gauge and not the speedometer.
The CK holiday engine 1 is my favorite and also engine 2 the EP
They sure work hard
Should make this the main way of getting around
If you'd like more information about the tours go to www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/steam-trains.htm
Enjoyed that very much!
I imagine they keep the boiler going all night unless there's some work that needs to be done on it?
how did you get in there?
i am probably the biggest disneyland railroad fan in YT and this is incredible. was this before C.K. left?
What's the status on the EP Ripley's rebuild?
Is Casey Junior from Dumbo (1941) like C. K. Holliday, E. P. Ripley, Fred Gurley, Ernest S. Marsh, or Ward Kimball?
Yas
I know how to make the train whistle sound and make the bell sound
What guage is this?? 3 foot??
the boxcars?
the ck will be missed
She's coming back
+Eric Biscuit She's already back, and she's been running real well from what the crews testing her have said
What in blazes is clanking under throttle?
what's up I'm The Train Master
Dude hickok45 works at Disneyland
Improvised fire hose.
How can I apply?
Aren’t holiday and ripely 4-4-0 American locomotives
How many cars do tha trians pull?
I wonder if the locomotive is real because it looks real but it also feels fake.
@FoolishMortal01 well I was just wondering because it just didn't feel real, the steam felt like something from a fog machine and I have noticed that most places have fake locomotives, but I do like the Disneyland railroad.
Oh it’s real Walt went out of his way to get those engines
@@MT-jd8pc that's still pretty cool, I prefer the real thing.
