Years ago I travelled by ferry from Gibraltar to Tangier, and the nanosecond I set foot on Moroccan soil, I was pestered (can't think of another word) by a young lad. I spoke German to confuse him. Nope, he spoke German, and English and a little French. 😞 He said he would walk with me as being annoyed by one mosquito was better than being annoyed by a swarm. Ever had one mosquito constantly bite you? I seeked refuge in my hotel room, chilled etc, and two hours later I stepped out and there he was waiting at the front door for me! Tangier is notoriously bad for the tenacity of it's street urchins. Great video Jason. Bummer about the lost camera.

As a solo female traveler, one of the best decisions I made when traveling to Morocco is to hire a local guide when visiting touristy sites like Fez, Chefchaouen, and Marrakech. I'm usually someone who prefers to explore on my own, but I know Morocco is different. Thankfully, the guides I hired through Airbnb Experience are all so amazing and there was never a time I got hustled. Whenever vendors would try to sell me something, my guide would tell them in the local language that I'm not interested. Also, the maze of alleyways in souqs and medinas is very confusing. I'm hundred percent certain I'd get lost without a guide.

Just came back from Fez. It’s intense and overwhelming. I was followed by two guys until I found my riad and they didn’t want to leave until I gave them a tip (which was not enough in their opinion). Also, my girlfriend was harassed several times (being blond did not help at all). Fascinating city….but local men are a pain
Moroccans do not seem like the nicest people. It doesn't matter if it's a backpacker, journalist, vlogger or even professional documentary crew, almost everyone who goes to this country has some sort of problem with the local people. They are uncivilized. I was watching the World Cup and the Moroccan fans all looked like gangsters. I heard Tunisians are more civilized. Egypt and Morocco seem to be the worst! Morocco was always on my bucket list, but I honestly don't want to go there anymore, after all the horror stories I've heard about the people. I don't think Marrakech is any better. I've heard women travelers say they felt very unsafe in that city, and we were talking to one Mexican lady in Turkey who went there, and she said she asked her HOTEL to arrange a cab to take her to the market, and the driver took her to his buddy's shop. I wouldn't trust ANYONE in that country.
