    Hi Tonya, thanks for the presentation! I'm giving a presentation to my research group on my AFM research this week and this was a great review video to flesh out my uncertainties.

    if we use the contact mode then how do we measure the force between the tip and the sample?
    Because you said with Hooke's Law but in contact mode the x is zero as the tip is in constant contact with the sample.

    Can you explain what is meant by functionality and characterization? Tq !

    • @tonyacoffey5568
      @tonyacoffey5568  7 років тому

      Hi. Do you mean the functionalization of the AFM probe? That just means to chemically bond some sort of coating to it, for different applications that might need a hydrophilic surface, hydrophobic surface, etc. Other than that could you be a bit more specific? Thanks.

    • @anthonyyee7481
      @anthonyyee7481 7 років тому

      Hi Tonya..yes that really helped. Can you explain what is meant by characterization of a sample? Tq.

    • @tonyacoffey5568
      @tonyacoffey5568  7 років тому

      It just means to understand the sample fully, and the sample's properties.
